  1. That guy has a bunch of videos of the river from the different parks you can go to along the river. There’s literally endless places to wade, bank fish or find some rocks or island to set up at. There’s parts of the James River that are like that as well. I don’t fish there often but I know there’s a place called the Pony Pasture and Belle Isle that look similar. The James River is about a 40 minute drive from the Appomattox so it would be possible to hit up both in the same day. I like the Appomattox because it’s not so crowded as the James being in a bigger city.
  2. As many times I’ve been bass fishing I’ve yet tried the james. Every time I’ve attempted to there’s always so many people around or can’t find parking. Always stuck with ponds and creeks in the area. Or gone to the Appomattox river.
  3. Look at the Appomattox river located south of Richmond. A lot of information about where you can go can be found here: https://folar-va.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/105844-Map-Guide_web-final.pdf Not many people are down there during the week day. Weekends are more crowded obviously. I go on a week day at any time and I feel like I have the whole place to myself. I don’t typically wade fish. I do wear a old pair of shoes and make my way around the river to rocks and small islands. To get a better visual of how the river is and the trail that runs miles and miles down it there’s quite a bit of videos on YouTube. Look up Appomattox river trail. Heres a random video I found.
  4. I’ve had decent luck on the bigger of the two ponds that split Nuckols road. I’ve only been able to catch bass in a small area of the pond. There were a few other people spread out around the pond and they weren’t catching anything.
  5. I was also told about some kind of park on Ridgefield Parkway, but I didn’t see a name. When you look on the map there’s a dock on a creek. But I’ve never gone so I can’t say for sure. i also found a place near 288 and Patterson Avenue. West Creek Parkway. Not far from Ridgefield. I think someone on here mentioned it in another thread.
  6. I was actually in your neck of the woods this past Sunday. Get your map app up and look over at Nuckols road near Wyndham Forest Drive. There’s 2 ponds there. I didn’t stay long because I was scoping out the area for more ponds to fish. Also look on Cox road. Behind Innsbrook after hours there’s a pond there. There’s also 2 more ponds as you make your way down Cox road towards Broad Street. All of above ponds are very close in distance so you have a few choices without driving very far.
  7. I live between Sandston and New Kent. I’m looking for something close by that I can go to after work before it gets dark. I know of a few spots where I can fish the Chickahominy river but none of them seem ideal for bass. I know people don’t like giving out their spots but I’m ok if you need to put a burlap sack over my head and drop me off where the bass are haha. I’ve never caught a bass before. This is my first year using artificial lures. Caught a few small pan fish, bluegill and crappie but no bass yet.
