Lure company seconds???
You can contact some of the soft plastics bait companies for off colored baits. They often have to adjust the colors when starting the production runs of specific colors. You can get a worm and dip it four or five times in Spike It Worm Dye and put it in a bag of off color baits and pour in some worm oil and let it set. Shake the bag up and mix it every once in a while. The Spike It will bleed off into the bag of worms and change the colors.

Need Sunglasses after Lasik
Maybe you should go to the WalMart optometrist shop. You can buy the sport frames and have them add the polarization tints to the lenses and you can get a two pairs for one price. Ill bet they wouldnt cost half the price as what you would find in the BPS Stores. Really you need to wear eye protection at all times while fishing whether it is noontime or midnight. My cousin works in a emergency room and told me about a guy with a 3/16 oz bullet weight lodged into his forehead. It had actually penetrated his skull so that fluid was coming out the hole where the line goes through.

What hook to use in monster worms...
My problem is not finding a large enough hook for a 12 inch worm but rather finding a worm with a thicker head. Ive never understood why a bait company would make a 12 inch worm with the same head diameter as a 8 inch worm.

Manmade offshore structure locations
You can place brush piles all day long and some places will be hits and some places will be misses. You cant simply place a brush pile in hopes of getting lucky in that it will hold fish because that wont happen. Your best bet is to find a place that already has a tendency to holds fish and plant structure that will reinforce or improve its fish holding capabilities. Look for a place that already consistently holds fish "primary cover" and look at the bottom contour. What is the bottom contour leading up to that "primary cover" in other words what "roadway" are the fish using to travel to that place. When you take a look at that roadway you will find non-typical places such as rock piles and small humps and ridges that hold fish as they move towards the primary cover. Those non-typical places are called "secondary cover" and that is where you want to plant your brush piles.

Best Christmas tree for fish attractor?
We used to cut small cedar trees and dig six inch deep holes (post hole digger) and pour cement and stick the trees in the holes. We would then wait until the freeze and use a pole to push the trees out on the ice. This works good if you are bank fishing a place that you cant launch a boat into.

Odd Bass Behavior?
I think everyones seen times when there was a huge bass sitting there and no matter how many times you cast or how many different baits you throw hes simply not interested. But there is a possibility you can still make him bite. I remember one fish i had cast to probably twenty times and he would sit there motionless. I was casting and reeling a tube right across maybe two inches off the tip of his nose and he sit there like it didnt exist. I finally made a cast and pulled the tube right up next to him and as hard as i could i slammed it into the side of his head. Then that fish came alive on me. That fish ended up weighing a little less than six pounds.

Need Somewhere to Go
If travelling distance isnt a problem you can come up to Kentucky & Barkely Lakes. You can fish either days or nights. During the day you can fish the main lake ledges but your success will depend on whether or not the Corp of Engineers is pulling water. If its a good pull you should do well but if its a weak pull it can be a long slow day. Best bit of advice is to fish at night. Concentrate on the primary lake points and bluff corners and gradually work back to the secondary points and then on to the rip rap areas and docks. Always remember if you are night fishing during the big name tour events you want to make sure to have the boat back on the trailer before the hordes show up to launch. And its always fun to show your fish off to these guys cause it really gets them pumped. And believe me they will be pumped cause you can flat catch more than a few nice sized fish on these lakes at night.

Old baits from the 80s and 90s
The Bill Norman Snatrix was probably one of the best plastic worms I ever threw and it was the first plastic jig trailer I ever used. I would throw a 1/4 oz. arkie with a solid black living rubber skirt and a 5 in. Snatrix for a trailer. I remember one day it was sleeting and I caught three five to six pound strip pit bass in a row on that bait. Ill never forget that day or those three fish. It was a good bait and there is one made now but it has a dead tail action compared to the originals. I once heard someone say the original Snatrix had a bad tendency to twist line but i fished hundreds of them without experiencing any kind of line twist. Mister Twister made a soft plastic Hawg Frog in the early eighties and it was a good bait. It was made of a different type of plastic than the ones made more recently. The older Hawg Frogs were made of a softer more sponge-like plastic than the newer ones and had a better floating action.

What is a must for every tackle box?
The worse mistake a beginer can make is to go out and buy a couple of the largest tackle boxes he can find and start walking the tackle section and filling them with baits. Thats the best way to end up with tons of baits and colors you will never use. And you dont want to walk two miles up and down hills to a farm pond with a ten pound tackle box in your hand. I would advise you to buy a handfull of baits that can be used under various conditions and to buy just a few basic colors that should allow you to cover the entire spectrum. Type "Beetle Spin" "Tube Bait" "Curl Tail Grub" and "Texas Rig" into one of the search engines. You will quickly figure out a beetle spin type bait can be rigged with tube Jigs and tube bodies and round head jigs with curl tail grub bodies. And the tube bodies and curl tail grub bodies can be rigged with a bullet worm weight and worm hook for a texas rig bait. There you have a small handfull of baits and combinations that will perform head to head with brush hoggs, beavers and toad baits. Keep in mind the fish arent down on the bottom reading The latest issue of Wide World of Baits and having discussions about what baits they should and should not be caught on.

Tackle for Stripers
Try throwing jigs rigged with shadd bodies suspended below a float. Not many people use this technique and it will give good results where surface action is going on near main river channels. You will want the jig suspended below the surface action due to the larger fish being a bit deeper and picking off injured baitfish that tend to drop after being nailed in the feeding action.

PETA at it again!!
I once saw a television interview in which a couple of PETA activist were proclaiming the need to put a end to sport fishing. One of their solutions was to stage demonstrations where the organizers would run up to anglers and quote "Use short thick clubs to strike and break the fragile fishing rods of anglers". My first thought was "All Star 7"6 Heavy Action Casting Rod" and your going to attack me with a short stubby club...lol. ;D

What kind of lure is this?
Zara Spook was originally called a Zaragosa Special because a comment was made it wiggled like the prostitutes in a certain red light district called Zaragosa Street. I think Zaragosa Street was in new Oreans. Later large eyes were painted on the bait and comment was made it looked "spooked" when the name was shortened down to the "Zara Spook".

Working with lead
I had been melting a lot of old lead pipe and some of it was out from under old toilets. So its got some kind of rope, cardboard or cotton material stuck between what looks like the lead pipe and some kind of lead collar or connection band. It gives off a brown rusty looking smoke and the flames will flare up six to eight inches above the pot 8-) Its some of the softest shiniest lead ive come across other than stained glass window material which is a pain because you have to use cutters to snip off the tin joints. All that snipping and theres not a lot of lead there but it gives you something to do when snow is on the ground.

How to Custom Color Soft Plastics After Buying?
Im not too sure about adding lines to soft plastics after they are poured because this is usually done during the pouring process. But i do know a couple of guys who uses a needle to thread flashabou down the sides of tube baits. But if you were to have black and pearl laminated shadd bodies and want to change them to black and chartreuse laminated it can be done. It can also be done with a minimum waste of the Spike It. You should get a piece of clear or pearl soft plastic and dip it several times into chartreuse Spike It. Then place it in the bag of shadd bodies and add some worm oil. Over a period of two to three days the chartreuse will leech out of the dyed worm and onto the shadd bodies. Remember to squeeze the bag and move the baits around every once in a while. This way you can check the bag daily and remove the dipped piece of plastic when you get the right shade of color. You cant adjust the shades of color by dipping straight into the bottle of Spike It...when dipping directly into the bottle you are stuck with what you get.

looking for discontinued color
Was this particular Culprit color made back in the early eighties??? The reason im asking is Culprit made a 7.5 inch sickle tail worm that was a transparent blue/pearl laminate color. The sun light would penetrate the blue and bounce back off the pearl and it looked like the whole worm was lit up. That was one of the best worm colors i have ever used and its nearly impossible to find now.

Suggestions for first real deal tackle box?
I use the RubberMade plastic file storage boxes. You can attach a nylon shoulder strap to them and they will look like a box specifically designed to hold fishing tackle. The ones i have now can hold six of the 3700 utility boxes and twelve of the 3705 utility boxes. If you get one that is deeper you should be able to lay either one more 3700 or two more 3705 on top of the other boxes and have plenty of room left to close the lid. You can get them at WalMart. Then you can go over to the sporting goods section and check to see what size of utility boxes work best.

1oz rattle trap
There are way more little fish than there are trophy sized fish. Sometimes with the smaller baits a little fish will run in and grab it before the big ones have a chance to zero in on it. So if you use a bigger bait a lot of time the little ones will leave it alone which will give the bigger fish a chance to take it.
