Shimano Reel for Jig Rod
I posted a poll in one of the Shimano Facebook pages asking what most folks preferred as a jig rod reel. Overwhelmingly the answer was the bantam MGL ( I thought the 20 Metanium MGL would run away with it). For those of you that have fished both the Bantam MGL and 20 Metanium MGL, which do you feel is best suited for a jig rod and why ( in my case the Dobyns DX745). Thanks guys

Spotsylvania County
Anyone fish Hunting Run this past week? Wondering how the temple drop has effected things. I'll be there tomorrow (9/20/20) for the first time. Lake looks beautiful, can't wait to get out there.

It was a ROUGH day haha. The rains brought the water level up considerably and turned everything chocolate milk, but by the time I got there they were already receding, so the action on the back wasn't there... Most of the fish backed out to structure on 15' but getting them in the boat was another story. Winner caught 2 fish in 8 hours ... I made a mistake I think by going up lake, and should have adjusted. Winner went down lake. TM = Trolling Motor only

Anyone have a good source for monitoring the water temp at the Rez? I can only find water levels.

Good call. Thanks

Occoquan Reservoir
First launch, 3:30pm weight in. This particular Tournament series is a jonboat/kayak/canoe series so I'm TM only... I've mapped spots I want to check out all the way from Fountainhead to Red House Point. Some more up lake where it splits but not sure I'll have enough juice/time to make it there and back. Thanks for the help, yeah I've heard that about the Rez. I've actually been through that thread but noticed it was a few years old. Know a body of water can change drastically in that time.

Occoquan Reservoir
Hey guys, This upcoming Sunday (8/30) I'll be fishing in my first Tournament at the Rez. I've never fished there and was hoping someone would be willing to give me a little insight. I was hoping to make it out this week to scout it out but can't. From what I hear the visibility is usually on the lower side, is that correct? Lots of ledges from what I can see on Navionics. Is there a lot of grass, chunk rock, silt flats, all of the above? I'll be launching from the Fountainhead ramp. Any info you have would be helpful so I can start putting together a plan. Thanks all!

Everyone's 5 rod setup
It varies between the lineups. There is a video of Gary Dobyns describing the differences between the fast actions in all the lineups. From what I remember the Fury Fast is closest to fast/XF, the Sierra fast is on the ModFast side.

Rod Recommendation
Thanks for the input, what characteristics make a ride better at one over the other?

Rod Recommendation
I'm really liking the ALX IKOS 7'3" MH Promise and the Dobyns Sierra 734c. Both seem like they'd fit nicely in the lineup. They are fairly similarly priced, I'm wondering which would have the edge in sensitivity.

Rod Recommendation
Hey guys, looking to make an upgrade in my lineup and wanted to hear some recommendations. I'm looking for a new all purpose work horse (mostly light jigging, Texas rigs, swim jigs, worming). Budget is sub $200 and I'd like to stay at or under 7'3". I'm envisioning a MH/F but open to discussion. Some rods I'm considering: Diawa Tatula, Shimano Zodius, Dobyns Fury, G. Loomis E6X, St. Croix Bass-X. Looking for a MH/F with a really good parabolic. Anyone with experience with any of these, some insight would be greatly appreciated. The rest of the rod lineup in below. Thanks! Ready...GO! ? - St. Croix Mojo 7'1" M/F (Finesse, Ned, Dropshot) - Dobyns Fury 7'0" MH/MF (Reaction, Jerk, Lipless, Shallow Crank, Squarebill) - ??? - Okuma TCS 7'3" H/F (Heavy Jig, Flipping, Frog, Small Swimbait) - Lew's TP-1 7'3" MH/M (Deep Crank)

Lew's LFS drag replacement
Spoke with Lew's today. Great customer service. They are sending me out a new drag and drag spring so I can take care of it. I asked about a carbon fiber drag for the LFSs, to which he said it can be done, but would require a new main gear (with notches for the drag) and a new drag stack. I didn't ask about the cost but assume it wouldn't be worth it. New Rulon drag should be here next week.

Lew's LFS drag replacement
I have a Lew's LFS SSG1SHL that has a drag issue currently. I left the drag tightened down unintentionally and the washer has become fused to the main gear. I discovered this when I broke it down this weekend for a detailed cleaning. I've been looking online for carbon fiber drag replacements for this reel and the newer LFSs that I have. Does anyone have any experience in this area? I've contacted Lew's about obtaining a replacement rulon drag but haven't heard back from them.
