Yes I use spinning gear for jerkbait fishing, usually 6lb test with a 6-1/2 to 7ft rod. The mono has a little stretch to it, makes hookset's easier too, I use mono also for crankbait fishing too.

I also added new handle knob which has an extra bearing, making it 11bb reel now, super smooth.

Yeah no 2500 for the Exsence

Nice reel, Tackle Monkey got me also, I was going with the same one you have but went with the Exsence Ci4 3000 MHG paired with a Megabass Levante Shaky Head 7ft.

I don't tie my own but use football heads a lot preferably 3/16 up to 1/4oz. I found that they were a little better in rocks and don't get hung up as much as the traditional ball head, also for hair I use Bear, Fox, and Bucktail, usually with a small trailer.
