  1. So you jerk it a few times and pause, in the pause it waits a second and shimmys down a foot or so? That sounds killer!!!! That would be great for shallow, grassy ponds.
  2. A special shout out to the 13 that were the last to fall fighting for innocent lives in Afghanistan. Until Valhalla brothers.
  3. Like some techniques are best at dawn, like topwater and such. Some work all day like a ned rig.
  4. I guess one caveat is I don't wake up early so im not out at optimal feeding time. So I always figured they were actively feeding when I go and use them so I need more of a reaction strike but thats why I'm asking. I dont know. To me swimbaits are as close to what they actually feed on and if they arent hungry may pass it up. Does your recommendations work all day @A-Jay? Are big swimbaits most effective when they are feeding and chasing bait fish? Basically when is best to throw them?
  5. I got to thinking about paddletails in particular. I have never had luck with paddletails other than as a trailer. Ive rigged them on an underspin, weedless underspin, belly weighted weedless and on a T Rig with very little success. I mean like maybe three fish in three years. When on a swim jig or chatterbait it seems like it acts more wounded and not just a little fishy swimming along minding its own business. So should I be imparting more action with my rod? I only have one bigger soft plastic swimbait and ive never thrown it. Its an Optimum Boom Boom line through. Would that need more of a jerky retrieve? Ive thrown small hard jointed swimbaits with decent success but I'm pretty sure I was swimming it right through beds and they were attacking it not feeding on it. Thoughts on paddletails and what I can do for more success would be greatly appreciated.
  6. I run a swimon on a fire craw jackhammer and so far I like it. Kind of a weird erratic action and I like that.
  7. Rage Bug on a chatterbait? Rigged vertical or horizontal and do you keep the little arms or rip them off and just go with the main flappers?
  8. Wow it does really sound like you figured that body of water out to a T. I keep meaning to try tubes at the local ponds because I would bet money no one else throws them around where I live.
  9. I need to get some clear JJs. That stuff is potent and lasts. Interesting. The maxscent worms seem wet but worth a try for sure.
  10. I use a wacky tool but never thought about a lube. I have a can of Bang I carry with me so I will try that. Also Gambler makes Bang??
  11. They still have great action and are really soft so they move good but they don't last super long. I think my o-rings are too small though.
  12. Alot of times when I try new ponds thats all I go off of. Google maps and weather. Fishing the same few ponds definitely has taught me a bunch and is a good test for new lures. Next time I go in either going somewhere new with the ol trusty lures or the regular pond with new lures to test out. I always try to learn something when I fish.
  13. Ive never heard of that for striper. It makes me want to put on a heavy sinker and fish below the dam that holds tons of striper.
  14. Stripers will take chicken livers??? I know a prime place for them and always heard bait with shad but i love learning new ways to fish. I have like 12 rod and reel setups and only 7 are dedicated to Bass so I have a wide variety to use.
  15. Seems the same result here as asking Berkley on Facebook. No one says anything. Is it because the scent washes off after a while and you have just regular lures and dont want to tarnish the maxscent image?
  16. You sound very much like me some of the times. Last year I always set a catfish setup or two on rod holders with bells and would walk and bass fish. Only did it once this year and it was for cats and casting my fly rod with some small poppers. I want to catch a carp for the first time but I dont know where to go and chum and make a batch of pack bait for carp that I know for sure has carp in it. I have no idea if the ponds I fish have any carp.
  17. That's an awesome score!! I would love to try them but never wanted to spend the money so finding one would be amazing!!
  18. Zoom Z Craw Jr in black and blue flake. It's always been a consistent bait in dirtier water.
  19. Is that a glide bait in the upper left corner?
  20. Do you completely change it up to keep it fresh or stick to what works?
  21. Is there anyone who solely fishes the bank that fishes 3 or more days a week? If so do you drive farther and farther to go to new spots or hit the same spots every few days? If you hit the same couple of spots do you still catch fish most of the time? I have two ponds I really like but sometimes I think I go to them too much and either way over think it and skunk or I fished it too much and the fish are more wary. Like I fish for the same fish over and over that they may be wise to me. If the fish are truly on to me should I just pick new spots out of my comfort zone or change up lures to something completely different? I think it may be a mental thing that my mind assumes I'm pressuring the fish the more I fish the pond, even if once a week, that they aren't going to bite as good. Its crazy how so much of bass fishing is confidence. Either in ponds, lakes, or rivers or confidence in lures or colors.
  22. After about an hour using a maxscent general it seems to me all the scent is gone and its just a standard, non durable stick bait after that. Am I wrong? Gulp you can throw back in the juice and it recharges it but once the scent is washed off the maxscent stuff is it basically a non scented lure? Ive left them on a hook for a few days and they didn't dry out and shrivel up like Gulp does thankfully!
  23. Is Yoga Pants straight black?
  24. So one day fishing a tiny and I mean tiny pond that all the fish ive caught there have been on the ned rig, I found a pack of Ol Monsters. This was about 3 years ago. I just dug them out of the closet and they are Magnum Ol Monsters!!! They are HUGE!!! Granted this is the first time ive really looked at big worms in hand but they were heavy and so much plastic!!! So I think I'll make the 1 mile trip to Bass Pro and look at the 10" Power Worms soon! I'm a big believer in Powerbait so I'll definitely try them out over the humongous pythons that are these Mag ol monsters!
  25. I was thinking that. When I get a new style of lure I get two packs. One for clear to stained water and one stained to muddy water. Junebug will be one for sure then something more natural. I think it will be a good time to pick up some tungsten worm weights while I'm at it because ive been wanting tungsten bullet weights anyways.
