  1. Idahosmb started following 6 baits and Swimbait Setup
  2. Looking for a good swimbait rod. Don't need anything crazy heavy duty, I'm throwing anywhere from 1/2 oz baby bull shad to 1 5/8 oz s waver 168. More worried about handling that s waver than anything as I can throw some of the lighter swimbaits on my other rods if needed. Thinking I will go with the dobyns 735c. What rod would you all suggest? And what reel would be a good pair up for this? Will probably use 15 to 20 lb flouro. Also in this size range any other swim baits I should take a look at?

Well, what I have realized so far from your posts, and already knew but still haven't done is I need to figure out the jerk bait and get on that train. I use sinking rapalas quite often but more like a crank on a cast and wind retrieve.

You only get three soft plastics and three hard baits for all year. What are you choosing and why? I'm saying terminal tackle is included. I'm going with zoom lizard, rage menace, and yamamoto senkos. I chose these because I feel it covers reaction, finesse, shallow, and deep fishing. Hard baits I'm choosing a sixth sense curve 55, I love it's action and have had luck on smallies with this crank. A dirty jigs 3/8 finesse swim jig. Last, I'm going with a loon whopper plopper. Of course again I feel that I can fish most conditions and seasons with this set up. Of course this list is playing off of my strengths. I can't wait to see what you all say.
  5. So how do you retrieve your Whopper ploppers?
  6. Ya well this pond is really big actually practically a small lake. So which walking baits do you prefer?

  8. Hey guys. First time posting but love reading the forum. I live in Idaho and have a pond near my house with some killer small mouth fishing. No one around here has been able to show me anything though because it is a big area for trout and most people don't even know we have smb around. (So luckily I basically have an awesome smb fishery all to myself) I have been self taught from the internet and this last year had lots of success on jerkbaits, in line spinners, and crank baits. I want to get into topwaters with hopes to find some bigger bass this next year however. What will be my best topwater types, colors, brands, and what retrieves are best on them?
