  1. I love my Tatula CT, and I’m still paying on my SV. I really want to try a Tat 100 because I love smaller reels, but I may just go with fuegos for the remainder of my lineup due to the value/cost ratio.
  2. It’s MSRP is $159, so I would imagine it’s in their Korean tier, but I haven’t seen a list of which reels are manufactured in which country. Just speculation.
  3. This was my first experience with Lew’s and I’ve been underwhelmed. They not bad by any means, but I wish I wouldn’t have bought 2. I’d still have enough cash to get my Tatula SV.
  4. I’ve had no issues with uneven spooling on my tatula either. That being said, I’m not convinced there is any significant gain in casting distance, at least from my personal experience. I’m far more impressed with the magforce Z brakes. But with the Fuego sharing the same braking system and same frame, I began to wonder if the price difference was worth it. Either way, I’m thrilled with my tatula for the price I paid. Worth every penny.
  5. That’s my thinking, too. I much prefer an aluminum frame. But this also makes me wonder why the LFS is $99 compared to the graphite Mach crush being like $160. I have two new mach crush’s I decided I want to sell as soon as I tried the tatula. Yeah I was kind of surprised when Daiwa had graphite reel with standard mag breaks directly competing with the fuegos magforce Z and aluminum frame.
  6. Oh, I see. I typically run faster gear ratios and just slow down my retrieve so my reels will be more versatile if I decide I don’t want to crank with it anymore. Ok, here’s another question. Would you rather fish with a Fuego or a much more expensive Lew’s Mach Crush and why?
  7. Can you elaborate? From my understanding, the Fuego ct and the tatula CT are the same reel other than the t-wing. Why would you gear swap?
  8. This is what I figured. I may get some Fuegos next once I can sell one of my Lew’s. I am excited about the SV once I pay it off, though.
  9. I recently bought my first Daiwa (Tatula CT). I loved it so much I put a Tatula SV on lay-away today. From what I’ve been reading, the Fuego CT is just a Tatula CT without the TWS. Is the tatula worth the extra cash over the Fuego? Is the tatula 100 worth it over the CT? Is the SV worth the increased cost over the tat 100?
  10. I won’t hide them from my wife, but I won’t fight over it either. I make the money, so I also have to be considerate that she doesn’t have money to play with. When I buy myself something, I typically buy her something equal value.
  11. The more I get used to it, the less issues I have with the J Braid. I had to adjust my brakes slightly higher than I would normally, but haven’t noticed any loss in casting distance. All of my spools and brakes are loose by most people’s standards anyway.
  12. InvizX is what I used as well. I’ve now spooled up 16lb Sunline Sniper on my new Tatula CT and I have to say I love it. Low memory, supple, very thin diameter, and good knot strength so far. Still have the vicious spooled up on another reel but I haven’t even casted with it yet due to my satisfaction with the sunline.
  13. I haven’t had too many issues with fluoro other than memory. I liked Seaguar but it stretches as much as mono. I like trilene 100% but it has more memory. Shop Karl’s sent me a free spool of Googan fluoro and 50% off another. Everyone hates vicious but I just spooled it on one of my casting reels to try it out for myself, so we’ll see.
  14. ?? By all means, fish whatever you like. I’m not even suggesting it’s bad, just wanted to see if anyone has had a similar experience with it. I’ve been going through and trying several brands of fluoro and braid to determine what I like and what I don’t.
  15. I mentioned in the original post that I’m using 40 lb and 50 lb braids, J Braid X8 being 50. I’ve used other brands in these sizes with no issues. Just picked up some 50 lb 832 today actually. Thanks.
  16. As I mentioned, it’s not actually backlashing/bird-nest. I have plenty of thumb control. It’s more like the line may be slipping or digging down into the spool, causing it to catch. I thought I was saving money, but I’ve already lost the equivalent cost in baits just flying off the end of the line.
  17. I’m wondering if braids that have a coating on them may be less susceptible to slipping down into the spool. Any thoughts? I just wanted to give the J Braid a chance because of the price tag but if this continues, I’ll be switching before spring. Most likely to 832, I’ve heard great things.
  18. I’ve been wanting to try 832. Other than this I’ve had absolutely no issues with braid. I love my fluoro too, but the memory and cost can drive me crazy, and braid lasts longer.
  19. Hey guys, I use braid to leader for most of my applications. I’ve used original power pro and kastking super power braid (both 4 carrier) with no issues. Well I got a new rod/reel and decided I wanted to try an 8 carrier, in hopes that it would be smoother and quieter coming through the guides. I purchased Daiwa J braid X8 when I saw how low the price was. I have found that it IS quiet, but sometimes during a cast the spool will stop quickly like a backlash, but there is no overrun on the spool. Has anyone else had this issue with 8 carrier braids? Is it just the J braid? Or is it a coincidence as I have never seen this before. Thanks in advance. All lines in question are 40 and 50 lb test.
  20. Thank you all for the replies. Got one today from said pond but still want to give it a rest. Just hard to make myself not fish and the wife doesn’t want me running all over the county finding spots. (She does not share the same enthusiasm)
  21. Water temp has gotten cooler but not drastically. I have switched through just about every bait I own to get the fish I successfully caught. Now they’ve seen chatterbaits, lipless cranks, TX rigs, shaky heads, weightless senkos, and jigs/finesse jigs. As the bite got tougher, I began downsizing and throwing finesse style baits. Even those no longer work so I’m just going to give it time and find a new honey hole.
  22. I have a neighbor with a very small pond in his yard that I have been given permission to fish. The first day I caught 7 on various lures, and since then I’ve gone maybe 3-4 times a week for the past month or so. Over time the fishing has gotten drastically tougher and I even got skunked the last 2 outings. I’m beginning to think I overfished the pond and the bass have become hook shy. Does anyone else have a similar experience or some input? I plan to let it breathe for the next couple months and see what happens.
  23. Thanks I may try it as a leader with the fg knot. I can’t imagine filling a spool with it due to manageability. I only own 1 glide bait and honestly never throw it so I can’t justify dedicating a reel to it.
  24. Recently ordered some gear from and they included a free spool of 25lb fluoro with my order. I use 10 lb and 15 lb fluoro for most applications, with the exception of 50 lb braid for my frogging, and pitching into heavy cover. My question is what should I use the 25 lb for? Maybe a leader on my flipping/pitching set up? Seems like it’d be a bit too big for anything else. Do any of you have experience using fluoro that heavy?
