  1. I hate diesels and wouldn't own one if I didn't need it. Although that new Ford 7.3 gasser sure looks appealing for my needs.
  2. I hear ya man and wish you the best! The ss127 is one of the nicest yaks on the market. I'm sure it'll serve you well
  3. You can always put a trolling motor if it's too much! I agree, I want a paddle yak for the exercise and the quietness.
  4. Thanks! I really like the ss127 but no way would my 47 year old body manage to paddle around that big boat. I've read they're like paddling a full size boat around. Lol After all of the research I've done lately, it's steered me in another direction. I'm probably gonna go with the Kaku wahoo. Plenty stable to stand up in and a dream to paddle. I wanted a really super stable kayak but finally realized that you don't get super stability AND a yak that is enjoyable to paddle. Has got to be a tradeoff somewhere whether it be stability or capability. I would hate to spend big bucks on a yak for massive stability only to discover I hated to paddle it and rarely ever take it out. I've fished a bunch out of kayaks that are 30" wide and felt more than comfortable so the wahoo will be amazing I think. But hey good luck with whatever you choose!
  5. Everything is going that way these days. All these manufacturers do is figure out a way to make things cheaper. Nothing is built to last anymore, it's built to replace in a few years. Ever wonder why you see lawn mowers from the 70's still being used but mowers from 2010 are broken down in someone's back yard? One of my duties in the corporate world was to figure out how to save money via process improvements (lean manufacturing). Things like measuring how many steps it would take to perform a task and how to reduce it. It's not just Ford, it's every single one of them....I can give you a comparable story for Dodge, Chevy, Toyota, Nissan etc.
  6. There are around 600 F150's in my company's fleet, the majority with the EcoBoost. We have ran them for several years now and they have been top notch with hardly any issues. I, too, would like to know why he feels they should be avoided. Before the EcoBoost got pushed into our fleet, everyone had either the 4.6 or 5.0 and we've all liked the EcoBoost much better.
  7. I have a 10x10 climate controlled storage unit that I rent to have all my sensitive electronics I use for my job, delivered to. It works very well for any deliveries I don't want people nosing in to. Lol
  8. I thought the fuego and tatula ct were the exact same reel?
  9. I love my superduty,it's a pulling machine with the diesel.
  10. Those new Chevy z71 sure are one sharp truck! I tried talking the wifey into one but we just bought her a new 4runner offroad premium. And ofcourse, within 10 days of buying it, I had to put a 3.5" lift kit and 33" tires on it. She's always gotta stand out lol. The Toyota is rated to pull 5500# And her sister's off road beast is pushing around 600HP. That thing is wicked!!
  11. Yeah an excellent site for sure! Last I checked I had over 5k posts in that site. At one time, I breathed rimfires.
  12. Your "really happy" and others may vary quite a bit. When you're talking rimfires, my "really happy" is one hole groups lol
  13. Several of the makes of kayaks will allow you to buy the kayak now and later down the road buy a pedal drive. But I agree, big heavy wide barges are definitely not meant for much paddling.
  14. The CZ 511 is a highly accurate rifle. Cz new offerings is nowhere near the same as the older BRNO stuff.
  15. Towing 4k pounds with a 1/2 ton is a cake walk. You'll get mid 20's mpg with a Ford EcoBoost. My son's friend haukef6a 12k lbs trailer with his EcoBoost. That thing is a pulling beast But a 3/4 ton is built much heavier and made for towing. I use to pull 9k lbs daily with a Ford f150.
  16. It's insane that a 6" swimbait in $60!
  17. It just seems like going from forward to reverse is such a pain with the hobies and I'm constantly seeing fisherman complaining about that. It's definitely not hands free reverse and if you're fighting a fish and need reverse, a hand has to come off the reel or rod to go to reverse. In every other aspect, I think the mirage drive wins hands down, just not for hands free fishing. If I was fishing salt, I wouldn't pick anything but a Hobie PA
  18. I've done quite a bit of kayak fishing and one thing I've realized is bass fishing with a paddle kayak can be tough at times. You're constantly having to lay your rod down to adjust the kayak, or being pulled into something when fighting a fish. And it doesn't take a very big fish to pull ya around. If you aren't laying your rod in your lap, then you're laying your paddle there. Just constantly fidgeting back and forth which can be aggravating. The pedal kayaks just really frees you up to concentrate and enjoy the fishing. Reverse is so important on pedal kayaks. Just imagine fighting a fish and being able to just peddle backwards without a second thought. I have read enough and watched enough videos now to know that the instant reverse without having to pull any cords makes life soooooo much easier when fishing. A guy really needs to decide his budget and what type of fishing he will do the most, and that would decide which yaks to look at. If I was buying a pedal kayak today for fishing, it would be the slayer propel max hands down. If it was this spring, I'd have to test ride the kaku zulu and compare it to the slayer before I bit the bullet. I watched a video just yesterday of a pro kayak bass fisherman who has fished out of a hobie for years. He could fish any kayak he wanted to and recently switched over to the slayer and gave a 14 video on why the slayer was such an amazing fishing machine.
  19. Hey Sam, thanks very much for taking the time to share all of this information!! It all makes great sense and I will most definitely apply this when we get our new BC reels.
  20. You can fish year round pretty much everywhere lol
  21. If you aren't in a hurry, I'd seriously wait until the kaku zulu is released in March and check it out. The stability and comfort will be 2nd to none. It is a brand new peddle system but with the owners prior professional history in bikes, I would imagine that peddle system will be top notch. And its a sub 2k boat so very affordable. Kaku is well known for quality and customer service. It's a very sharp boat, too.
  22. For me choosing a peddle yak, it'd be a hard choice between the slayer propel max and the Hobie Outback. But if extreme stability is a major concern, the Native Titan ,feel free Durado, or Hobie PRo Angler. Or the new Kaku Zulu would be a contender as well.
  23. Paddle kayak or peddle? What are ya gonna fish mostly, ocean, lakes, rivers? If it's a paddle kayak, are you going to mostly paddle or plan to put a trolling motor on it? Will you paddle long distances or mainly in one general area where you launched at? Do you want to stand and fish too? Lots of variables to decide before you can narrow it down.
  24. You're quoting the wrong guy. I wasn't the one who stated they had flimsy hulls. I've never seen a vibe in person or have any experience with how thick or thin their plastic is. I've read a few things about them and some have stated they weren't as thick as other kayaks. Ive also read reviews saying the buckled if left in direct sunlight for an extended period of time. But again, it's only what I've read and that's the extent of my knowledge about them.
