I hadn't heard anything about the safety It would surprise me if they did.

CZ grand finale
Well looks like CZ pulled out the last of their 452 actions and is making a special run of the famous CZ 452 rifles they've called the Grand Finale. I've collected CZ rifles every since they started getting imported into the US in the early 90's. They are just some of the most accurate rifles at very reasonable prices. And you always had a great chance of getting gorgeous Turkish walnut with them, too. I opened the box on one of mine once to see double fiddle back grain just swirling all over that it looked like a marble finish. It was just too pretty to even use so I ended up selling it a week later for 2.5 times what I paid for it. This new grand finale has some cool features not found on any of the other models so it's gonna have to absolutely go into my collection. What a gorgeous rifle!

Ohhh, what to do
If the rust is only on the inside of the barrel and it still shoots good, leave it alone for now. Neutralize the rust and just keep your eye on it. If it shoots as good as you're saying, you very well may be disappointed with a new barrel.

My $160 Marlin 60 22LR
@CountryboyinDC you'd be better off honoring that rifle for what it is and buying a different rifle for target shooting. If you like to tinker with rifles, maybe look at Ruger 10-22. You can pick them up for $200 new and occasionally find them for 150 used. They are extremely easy to modify and they have the largest aftermarket support than probably any other firearm on earth. The barrels come off in less than a minute and trigger assemblies are easily swappable too. You can even buy used parts for them because guys are always changing them up. They are really a lot of fun to tinker with. If you just want to buy a rifle that will already be a great shooter, I'd suggest a CZ 452, the accuracy is simply amazing out of the box.

OUCH! (Reminder for Kayakers/Boaters
Honestly I think pushing the tip through and cutting it off seems better than what this looks lol I hope it never happens to me again but I'm sure it will.

My $160 Marlin 60 22LR
Yeah the golden boys are sharp guns but man you can't touch them without leaving fingerprints everywhere lol. When I unboxed my Henry, I discovered a rub mark through the bluing that obviously came from the factory. I emailed Henry and got a call from the owner himself. We discussed it a little and he said he'd call me back. A couple days later he called and said they had discovered that one of the cats they use to transport the rifles from one line to another had the protective felt rubbed through causing the guns to rest on metal. He told me I could either send it back for a replacement or he would send me a free Henry gun case. I took the case but later thought I should returned it because I may have gotten back gorgeous wood on the new rifle. Anyways, while talking with the owner, Anthony, I explained that the trigger on it was horrible. He had his gunsmith polish up a whole new trigger assy for me and mailed it with the gun case. That new trigger was amazing. Henry's customer service is top notch.

OUCH! (Reminder for Kayakers/Boaters
Yeah no doubt! It reminded me of the time I was fishing in the Florida gulf and got stabbed in the hand by a sail cat. Had to use fingernail clippers and gnaw at the barb for a while until it broke free. Then had to shove the barb through the other side of my hand and yank it out with my teeth. Ugh it made me sick to my stomach.

My $160 Marlin 60 22LR
@CountryboyinDC that was very nice of your friends to do for you. And I'd never sell it either. Value isn't always a material thing. That memory is priceless!

OUCH! (Reminder for Kayakers/Boaters
I got a treble hooked stuck deep in my hand this summer when I was out in nowhere. No matter how hard I yanked, it wouldn't come out. Thankfully a kayaker came by and loaned me some pliers so was able to cut the hook and push it through. Wasn't any fun at all.

My $160 Marlin 60 22LR
Tikka! Next to CZ, Tikka is my favorite rifle platform. They're very good shooters straight outta the box. Sounds like you're doing all the right things to get the Marlin to shoot well. It's unfortunate though that all this money and time is going into a Marlin 60. They're almost unsellable used unless you practially give them away. But I certainly understand the challenge and a feller has to have something he enjoys to do even if it costs ya a little money. I went through the same thing on a Henry lever action a few years ago. Cool little rifles but they're not meant to be accurate. Once you get use to shooting a real CZ or anschutz rimfire, it's hard to shoot anything else. I also built many 10-22's in the day that would leave one ragged hole.

My $160 Marlin 60 22LR
Yup I've owned a few marlin rimfires and it definitely says that in the manual which really shocked me. But I've seen countless barrels that shoot better dirty than clean because of loose rifling. Have you looked at the barrels crown? I've seen firsthand of minor flaws causing big issues.

My $160 Marlin 60 22LR
I'm sure you know by now but for a few $ more, a Ruger 10-22 would have been a better starting point with a massive aftermarket list to choose from. Marlin 60's make for a decent squirrel gun but that out it.

Mercury ProXS 115 4S CT
I just can't fathom the thought that 12" and maybe a couple more mph would be even remotely worth 8k.

Another tragedy, another reminder....
Oh man that sucks!! I bet some hard lessons were learned that day though. Lol What yak was it?

Another tragedy, another reminder....
I did a mile and half in the ocean in aircrew survival school. Guess that's why a 1/4 mile seems easily doable to me. But the real cold water may play a huge part. So let's hear the story how you flipped your yak on dead calm water ?

Another tragedy, another reminder....
I've never been in very cold water like that so didn't/don't know how it effects you, or how quickly. I was just thinking how easy 600 yards would be to swim in a few minutes.

Downsizing the rig’s tow vehicle
I've got brand new coil springs and shocks, front and rear that only have 100 miles on them before I put her lift kit on. They're just sitting in the shop collecting dust. I probably should sell it all. They're for the TRD offroad premium

Downsizing the rig’s tow vehicle
Lol I hear ya. in 30 years of driving, I've owned well over 100 different vehicles, probably much more than 100. I use to get bored with them very quickly and sell or trade them off. I've owned everything with the exception of exotics. I was a jeep and toyota fan back in the days of being an offroader. Owned many Tacoma's in those times and other than the serious rust issues, they were bullet proof. Once we bought the wife's new 4runner, I started hanging out in the Toyota forums a lot reading and learning. I was very surprised to see all the guys there complaining about the reliability of the toyota trucks the past few years. Definitely wasn't the norm for Toyotas products. The 4runners, unlike the Tacoma's sre still manufactured in Japan so they don't share the same issues. My uncle was VP of the toyota manufacturing plant in Southern Indiana until he passed a few years ago so it was always a topic in the family. Toyotas definitely hold their resale. My dad has owned two new Tacoma's in the past 5 years. The last one, a 2018 model, he sold it for $1500 less than what he paid for it off the lot. Granted, he's old and doesn't drive much. But only lost $1500 on a sale of a 1 year old truck. I'm hoping we get the same deal when we trade in the wifeys 4runner next summer. My son in law drives a 2020 Chevy 2500 with 3k miles on it. this morning on the way to work it started knocking very bad and a CEL came on. He got it to the chevy dealer and I picked him up. They called him this afternoon and informed him that it had a broken rocker arm. Surprisingly, they fixed it rather quickly and I took him to get it at 5:30 this evening. I was impressed with how fast they fixed it and it wasn't even the dealership that sold it. Hopefully it was just a fluke thing.

Kayak bowfishing
Thanks for the info. I won't be shooting from. Seated position and the yak I'm buying will be stable enough for standing shots. I actually thank it's gonna make an outstanding new way to bowfish

Get me in a kayak- Big boy kayak?
I think you should look at one of a minimum of 12' as far as the other dimensions go, I don't think they're as important. Reason being, you can have 33" wide kayaks that can have very different stability due to the hull shape (flat, cathedral, V). But I think the real stability starts in the 34" area and goes up. I think the most important thing you can do is narrow down a few yaks your interested In and research them in great deal. And obviously test rides are the best way to decide.

Another tragedy, another reminder....
Very sad indeed. No sense in not having a pdf with you at all times. 600 yards is easily swimable too.

Tough fox
I've owned nearly every predator caliber known to man for coyote/fox hunting but I always return to the .223. My normal hunting is under 300 yards so it's fine for that, the ammo is everywhere and cheap, and the accuracy is there. The 6.5 creedmoor is a lot of fun to shoot.

Downsizing the rig’s tow vehicle
Yeah for the past several years, the Tacoma's have had significant issues to the point many diehard yotam fans were jumping ship. Thankfully, the toyota 4runner is made in Japan and shares none of the issues the Tacoma has. Otherwise I wouldn't have just bought the new 4runner for the wifey. For her, it was between the 4runner or an F150. She's a speed demon and was blown away when she drove the EcoBoost. Man that thing is FAST! And that Ford 7.3 gasser is looking to be one nice engine. I think it'll prove to be just as reliable as the 6.2 and will have towing capabilities close to the diesels. That may be my next truck as I'm sick of the constant costly repairs and maintenance of the diesels. One oil change costs me $140 doing it myself. Back in the day I was a huge jeep head and have built many sweet jeeps in my time. The Jeep 4.0 was an amazing engine. They were soooooo stupid to stop making it.
