  1. Hank Parker and Bill Dance were the two I watched as a youngin. Always thought Hank seemed like a real good dude.
  2. I’m sure this has been asked before but maybe there have been new lures developed since….What is everyone’s favorite cold water LM bass lures? we can even split it up and have one that you’re throwing along banks, and ones you’re throwing at the deep stuff?
  3. Thanks! I’m gonna look for some of these OG’s when I run to the sporting store in a bit.
  4. SuperDuty posted a topic in Fishing Tackle
Yesterday after work I swung by this small lake on my way home. It’s a heavily fished lake because it’s right down town. I had been throwing everything in my tackle box snd couldn’t get s hit. Then, I see the brand new Rapala DT6 sitting in its box. I bought it last summer on a suggestion from my boss who is a tournament bass fisherman. I tie the lure on and make a cast and BAM, I’m pulling in a 4lb bass. I repeat this over all down the bank pulling in 1lbers until it finally snagged and I lost it. I’m absolutely hooked on this lure now. Swinging by the store on lunch and buying several more. Lol
  5. It has shrunk. It’s one of those stores I will avoid at any cost if possible. After the stance they took on guns, I changed how I felt about doing business with them.
  6. It has an electric tilt/trim jack plate with controls by the back seat.
  7. I’ve got a 109 acre public lake two miles from my office on campus. I definitely plan to start hitting it up before work soon, and already do after work. There in also a pond on the golf course behind my office bldg that I’ve heard holds massive bass, but not sure we can fish it as it’s owned by the University.
  8. Yup it’s ridiculous. It should be part of your registration fees here, too. And to think I even paid a lot extra to have wildlife plates on my Jeep that goes to help fund the DNR equipment they used to ticket me. ?‍♂️ But, it is only my fault. They were doing their job and were nice guys….
  9. Yeah it’s a $20 sticker that allows you to launch on DNR managed properties.
  10. Well today was the first time out on my “new to me” boat. I got a ticket from DNR because I completely spaced getting my launch permit. Lol anyways, The older Humminbird 788 ci HD DI left a lot to be desired. So, I just took advantage of the BP shops sale and ordered the Garmin ECHOMAP UHD 93sv. Hopefully I won’t regret buying it.
  11. Nah, I don’t get jealous. My gal has had a thing for me for 26 years. I couldn’t get rid of her if I wanted to. I agree, the pickens was slim! I can remember when I started going there 35 years ago with my dad, tackle town was enormous. that stand was the best one there and had a good selection. I was at Dicks Sporting goods today after the lake snd they had Okuma and Ark rods there.
  12. Thanks for all the info guys. This was one of the largest stands at the show yesterday and the guy was super knowledgeable. He told me about the new diawa models coming out and he was offering me deals on the ones he had in stock. He was knocking 30% off the tatula elites and Rebellions. I should have bought more but I am really wanting to try out different rods to find what I like. I still need to pickup one or two more. any suggestions on what to look at in the. 1-200 range?
  13. It’s a Rebellion model 701MLRB. It feels amazing but I was seriously disappointed when I got home and read “Made in China” on it. Kevhead, you’ve got a nice arsenal there! Glad to hear good things about them.
  14. Went to the Indianapolis boat sport and travel show today. I needed a couple new rods and a fish finder. The deals just weren’t there for a fish finder. But I scored what seems to be an amazing rod. I handled every rod there was from all the big name companies. Finally one of the stand owners handed me one and said try this one. It was without a doubt the best feeling rod Ive ever held. It was a Diawa Tatula Rebellion. I know absolutely nothing about these rods but I had to have it so I brought it home with me. So, what are y’all’s experiences with this rod? on a side note, I was standing there in the boat isle a d happen to look over and about 10 feet away stands Brantley Gilbert with a couple other dudes. No big group of body guards or anything else, he’s just checking stuff out like any other dude. My sister snd my girlfriend start getting all excited and walk up to and ask if they could snap a pic with him and he happily did. He seemed so relaxed snd normal. Unfortunately, a few minutes later we came across him again snd he was being mobbed by people. Pretty cool dude he was….
  15. Thanks! I’ve put one on every boat I’ve ever owned and it always made them plane and handle better. I could only imagine it would this one, too. Good point on trailer maintenance. I won’t be traveling far but it definitely deserves my attention none the less. I’ll snap some pics as soon as I get it in there. Thank you, definitely been well taken care of and very low hours use. Yes, electric start, electric tilt/trim on the jack plate with the switches next to the back chair for the tilt/trim, as well as live well and bilge switches. It seems to be a well made boat. I certainly hope to enjoy many years of use from it.
  16. Thanks guys! I’m pretty excited about it and can’t wait to get to fishing. Plan to chase the wipers and LM a lot this year.
  17. Picked up a boat last weekend to fish the lake and rivers. The old man who owned it barely ever used it and he kept every receipt since it was new. so far, I’ve changed engine and drive oils, new plugs, installed side guide bunks on the trailer, put a hydro foil on the 30 HP Honda. the Humminbird 788ci HD Di is pretty ancient snd probably won’t produce good results so I’m considering the Garmin Echomap 93sv. I also need to install some lights inside and probably pick up to new marine batteries. heading to the Indianapolis Boat Sport & Travel show today where I may pick up some goodies. Can’t wait to get this thing out on the water tomorrow. 4.7 out of 5 st
  18. I hope it’s as nice as the parigee. It’s a great rod and this one was s few bucks more. I ordered it to pair with the tatula Type-R i just ordered
  19. I ordered this rod just because I really liked the parigee rod so much. Just curious who here has used one and if ya like it.
  20. As human beings, we have emotions and we don’t always appreciate what is truly important. We’re critical, we expect life to always be a certain way, and often times, think people should always know better. If you’ve got a family to go home to, consider yourself a lucky man. At the end of the day, having a loving family is all the really matters in this life.
  21. I really wanna try a curado! Hopefully i can fish with my son in law soon and give his a go.
  22. Yeah that definitely wasn’t the case. I spooled it accordingly when I bought it. And then suffered some serious backlashes and took many yards off. But it did make me wonder if it got louder because I had 3/4 of the line is was supposed to have. But still, who wants a reel that’s gonna be noisey when underspooled!? I’ved moved on. For what it’s worth, it was pretty clear this was a reel amazon had sold, returned, and sold again. I clearly wasn’t the first owner of it. That may have played a part. I’m not one of them suckers who feels you gotta spend the most money fo get quality stuff. Never will be! I’ve got big money in my family that I constantly see needlessly wasted. But I do wanna maximize my money for QUALITY stuff. I work for everything I own.
  23. I’ve just purchased a Tatula SV103HSL. But i fish a lot and can’t play around with waiting. Maybe I’ll like this one better. I’m learning still and I’m an impatient man haha. I do read and research a lot before I make purchases so hopefully the type R won’t be too much of a pain the the arse. The SXL XT was actually a very small reel, my hands swallowed it up, but it still felt comfortable to palm. I supposed size is relatively debatable. Or so the wifey says... Worst part was I had to pay $194 for the Sv so I could use the $140 credit I had at Amazon.
  24. How would you guys compare tbe lews tournament to the Tatula SV? Something is drawing me to an SV even though i wanna go with a different brand fkr the next reel.
  25. No the sound was when retrieving the line in and seemed to get worse once the lure was closer to the reel, oddly. I just want a good sub $200 reel that’s different than a Daiwa. I want to try different brands. I loved the slx xt. But my son in law saying he lives his lews more than his curados makes me seriously look at lews. hard decision on what to get. I could press it to $250 on a reel but I really need to slow down, I’ve dropped Way too much on fishing stuff in the past few weeks.
