I use a Lews 6.4.1 gear ration on a Bass Pro 7'4" heavy Action with 40lbs Kast King Braid. The entire package is less than $120.00

I consider myself a decent shallow water fisherman, but I have never purchased a shallow anchor setup, like Talons or Power Poles. I usually just position my boat well and it seems to workout, but I have been looking at some of the manual shallow water anchors (Stick It, Stay Put and Panther). Does anyone have any personal experience with any of those? Any input would be appreciated.

Hailie, With such lite lures, it will depend on the size of the bait casting reel you purchased and the line size you will be using. Once you do tune it in to your casting ability (adjusting the spool speed and magnetic brake) Just practice, practice and more practice. In the conditions you described you should be ok with lite line (no more than 10-12 lbs test) Good Luck

Not an answer to your question, but does TW really save you money on purchases or is it that they carry lures that others don't. Just curious since I have never used them, but do go to their website and look at gear all the time.

The key to consistency is to work at your craft and try to keep it as simple as possible. Patience is a very big part of it, the right tools for the job is another. Some think technology plays a part, but all the Marine Electronics under the sun can not help, if you don't understand the Bass itself and its surroundings and behavior. Just my 2 cents.

I have a Pirana 4 that I removed from the console and now want to hook it to the front of my boat and use on the trolling motor, but wish to experiment by mounting it sideways up front and see what happens. Has anyone ever tried anything like this before? If it doesn't work I will just remove it. On my console I installed a Garmin with DV, SV and GPS. Garmin Echoplus Maps 73SV.
