  1. I also would pass on both halo and favorite just because I have no personal experience with them. Their are a lot of quality rods that are in the 150 dollar price point that I would rather focus on Abu Garcia makes very good rods and it would pair up great with your new revo. I personally am not brand specific but I have experience with Abu Garcia rods and they never gave me any issues and they are very sensitive Also depends on what your going to use the rod for, something you should consider also when buying a new rod.
  2. My experience with shimano sub 100 dollar spinning reels in this day in age is that they are just not worth buying they feel smooth but do have issues eventually and don’t last very long. I don’t bother with them this is just my personal experience with them. When dealing with shimano spinning reels you want to go Stradic or go home.
  3. I was thinking about trying the wicked wacky hook by gamakatsu looks funny but looks like I can get a good hook set on casting gear?
  4. Yeah I still have a few packs of these the green ones? Good but not good enough:) I just feel like I don’t get that good hook set.??‍♂️
  5. That’s a pretty heavy hook for wacky rigging if that is what your using it for?
  6. I have used many different brands and styles of Hooks for wacky rigging but have yet to really settle on the best hook. What do any of you think on what is the absolute best wacky rig hook and size?
  7. Retracted
  8. I have no experience with dobyns so I would say Powell no doubt I would get a Powell great sensitivity and I have never had an issue with them.

Congrats!!that is awesome! Fish of a lifetime!
  10. Why don’t you call shimano and tell them what happened? They should fix your issues.
  11. I prefer a light wire hook over a heavy hook any day however a heavy wire straight shank flipping hook Has it’s applications. I have switched to the heavy hammer flipping hooks that were designed by Steve parks for those applications. I get better penetration with an owner light wire extra wide gap for thicker plastics or an owner offset shank worm hook for thinner plastics. You get better penetration with a light wire but if you’re doing flipping and pitching which requires short distance pitches and a heavy action rod a heavy hook is optimal.
  12. The plastic worm gear won’t effect the performance of the reel.
  13. More and more people are starting to crank with braid to a leader because cranking rods nowadays are so forgiving that braid is not a bad idea. The curado k can throw light lures easy once you get used to it I have thrown 3/16 ounce spinnerbaits on it very well in good conditions. The k is a great crankbait reel 3/8 and up probably one of the best workhorse reels. I also still really like the curado i and is a good reel to consider for crankbaits.
  14. Shad rap of course or the DT6
