Dobyns Sierra 704 or 705 SF
Hey there. Looking at getting one of these rods to pair with a daiwa bg 3500 i have lying around. Figured i would use it mainly for pike and pickerel but since I’m mostly bass fishing hoping it could also throw some other stuff. Anyone suggest which I should go for? I have a 703 SF so initially felt like I should go for the 705 but open to persuasion. Thanks!

Deep hooking bass on Senkos
Started using 4” Senkos and more recently 5” since easier to cast and get more distance. I’m fishing from the bank mostly or a kayak.

Deep hooking bass on Senkos
Thankyou. Caught a couple this morning and they were well hooked with the t rigged EWG hook but may pick up some circle / octopus hooks to try them.

Deep hooking bass on Senkos
What size circle hook would you use? Assume something like the Gamakatsu circle octopus hooks would work?? Cheers

Deep hooking bass on Senkos
Thanks all. Going to try and keep a finger on the line tomorrow and maybe reel a little more line in when letting it fall to see if that helps. The water where I’m fishing is pretty shallow with weed on the bottom so finding options fairly limited and the t rigged worm seems to be working well.

Deep hooking bass on Senkos
Hi there. Fairly new fisherman and been catching a lot with soft plastics. Mainly Senkos and yum dingers. I watch the line (braid to mono leader) carefully but have noticed I’ve been deep hooking a few fish. Learned how to remove the hooks through the gills and have been doing that successfully but wanted to ask about semi slack line. My understanding is that you should let the senko fall on semi slack line but what does that really mean? My guess is maybe i still have too much slack? Trying to get better at identifying bites and setting hook quickly. cheers

Fishing after rotator cuff surgery
Had two rotator cuff surgeries. First was just a subacromial decompression. Recovery was easy with no repair and could be fishing again quickly. Second was a full thickness tear with four bone anchors. 6 weeks in sling and the risk of pulling an anchor out and needing a revision surgery was high. So very much depends on what work was done. I will say that if you had a repair and anchors then i would err on the side of caution since a revision surgery has less chance of success than the original surgery.

Help needed - Which rod with which technique
Thanks! So maybe I'll keep throwing the keitechs on the 703c and use the 734 for my swim jigs. What about stuff like crankbaits and jerkbaits? Throw them on the 705 along with my topwaters? Any any suggestions on what techniques the kistler rods would be best for? Waiting on them arriving in the mail so only used Dobyns until now. Thanks again!

Hi there. Have the following rods and trying to figure out which rod would work best for which technique. For the Bank fisherman: What "pushes" your buttons while fishing?
Turtles. Seem To be everywhere i fish. Something will grab my top water, i think it’s a fish and lots of times it’s a turtle.
