  1. Sooooo, im goin out tomorrow morning and its supposed to be raining and about 50 degrees i think. 1. is fishing in the rain even worth it? Maybe more challenging? 2. Do you guys have go to methods in the rain? Im thinking it might be a perfect time to step away from the senko for the day. Lol
  2. I havent had a chance to breath from work let alone get my new poles lol...... I am looking up the things you mentioned and I was wondering about ratio. My current is a 7.1.1 Does it matter THAT much on what I get?
  3. Can you get that on amazon?
  4. I think its supposed to be raining here but I will be out regardless at least for a few hours before everyone comes out! I havent tried bass fishing in the rain so I'm excited to see how that turns out
  5. Ya, I was slow trolling around the lake. He did mention that he saw me reel in a few on his way to that spot and when he got there he was stationary. lol...yaaaaa.... well, I was in a good mood. Like I mentioned in another post I was having the single best day bass fishing I ever had so I felt like sharing As a trucker I wish I could thumbs up this about 1,000,000 TIMES!!! I am noticing a few people talking about fishing behind/following other boats... Granted I have no idea, I was under the impression that if you fish a spot you would spook the bass or if one is caught in an area that would pretty much be it for the area? Obviously, I am wrong...lol
  6. Yaaaaaaa, I honestly thought about saying something while talking and I thought to myself….. what if he takes it the wrong way and it turns sour and then i have to push his kayak over!!!!! Lol. Then again how would he learn and to honest, I wasn’t sure at the time what he did was wrong or not and then I’m the A hole lol. I just new it irritated me. I’m a truck driver and it was like being cut off in my truck! Loll. If I ever make it a shirt I’ll personally send u one! Lol glad to hear it seems like I did the right thing I guess even tho it was hard. Thanks guys!
  7. Lol oh ya I’ve had tons of those days. I will say I switching to 12lb mono felt sooooo much better. When I get my new rod I’m gonna try ur route with braid and see how that is :)
  8. Ya, he was bass fishing but he was using a spinner at the time. I guess he could of been lying to me as well...lol
  9. This weekend I went out in my Bass raider. I was first on the lake and I took off to the right. I made it to the end of the red line about an hour and a half later. While I was reeling in a bass I look over and saw that a kyak had left the launch, shot straight over and started fishing about 50 yards-ish in front of me. I thought it was pretty d**n close considering out big the lake was!!! Soooo, I release my bass and started to go around him. He looks at me and we get to talking *about fishing* and he told me he didnt knwo what a Senko was. So I ended up actually giving the guy a few senkos, showed him how to rig it and continued around him even though I was annoyed as all hell! lol In this situation....should I of not gone around him and just continued to follow fishing behind him right after he just fished a spot or? I was just really caught off guard. *side note* Lake drawing is not to scale!! hahahahahaha
  10. Hey all! I wanted to update this post with what happened on Saturday. I went out to Island Lake in Shelton, WA at 5am with a COMPLETELY different mind set of when I normally go out. I took everything that was said in this thread and used it all I think...lol I had a spool of 12lb mono, so I put that on my rod, I kept an open mind and really focused on every cast with my finger under my line. If I felt ANYTHING diff I set the hook. I feel like I set the hook 200 times that morning lol. I watched for any movement in my line, I watched to see if my line stopped dropping short when in deeper water and so on. Just a complete overhaul from the way I normally go about bass fishing and I wanted to give you guys a huge THANK YOU! All and all on Saturday morning from 5am-9am I caught 23 bass. I dont know whats considered decent here in western washington but I caught ***.07lbs, three around 2.75 lbs and about seven 2.5lbs. All the rest were in the 1lb range. But I literally had the single best fishing expercience of my life! this weekend. I couldnt go out today but I mean......I thought I loved bass fishing before and now that I have fresh knowledge, I feel like I want to go out every day I can and try to perfect everything Ive heard. Hope you all had a great weekend and thanks again!!!
  11. NO!!!! I just didnt have the time because of work and errands on friday so I just used my normal rod, went out and got er done!!! lol VERY thankful for all the posts. I will have to do some research based on the suggestions and figure it out. I do like the idea from James of getting a couple set ups Vs. one setup for my budget! I will for sure update the post when I get some breathing time from work! lol
  12. Id say maybe $600 or less for the combo if possible Copy that.... its just a preference. If its a good rod and reel id be open to getting it where ever Also, I was trying to get one by the weekend IF POSSIBLE. So if anyone knows something good at Cabelas/Bass pro or something that would be awesome also.
  13. Hey all! So....I have been using one bass rod for about 2 years now and I want to add a new bait caster! Some of the posts I read on rod and reels seemed kind old unless I missed something but just seeing what reccomendations you guys might have? I have been looking at googan squad set ups but I dont know if they are any good. Money is not a huge deal. Preferably something I can buy off Amazon. My current pole is a 7' Lamiglas XP703C. 10-17lb, 1/4-3/4oz rod. My current reel is a Abu garcia Pro max 7.1:1 I almost always use plastics but I want to start expanding to diff types of lures.
  14. OK......I think I may have been doing something wrong. When I am fishing plastics, I cast, let the lure drop to the ground, and i will immediately reel in the slack because I thought I wouldnt Feel the bass unless my line was tight? Then I will twitch twitch, reel line tight and so on. Am I supposed to be keeping more slack in my line?
  15. I made a post above this one but it says its hidden and its in a purple highlight. Did I do something wrong? lol
  16. WOW!!! Very grateful for all the responses and to see all the different point of views and I dont think I got flamed once? hahahaha So....I gave incorrect info in the beginning. I use a 7' Lamiglas XP703C. 10-17lb, 1/4-3/4oz rod. Not sure if its any good but the local store guy set me up with it. My reel is a Abu garcia Pro max 7.1:1 I am looking to get a nicer rod and reel if anyone has any suggestions. I was looking at Googan squad rods? OK...seems like the biggest seperation in everyone is what line you like to use. I was told to try Braid and at the same time people say mono over braid and so on. I am getting the feeling I should just try everything and end up using what I like the most? I will be watching these vids tonight!!! Thanks for the source. Again, I dont have a lot of exp. I DO tend to stick to Senkos, rubber crawfish stuff like that because its all I catch anything on. I have tried spinners, crankbaits, diff top waters and I have only ever caught one bass on a top water and zero on everything else. So, I tend to shy away from the other baits which yes, I understand is dumb lol. You mentioned my setup isnt helping for plastics. Are you talking my line or? Out of all the adivice I love closing the eyes or fishing at night to really get the feel of things without seeing them. Because honestly, I throw the line in, move it around and if I get a fish awesome. Im not focusing on any techniques, feelings and so on. I definitely need to slow down and put more focus into it other than trying to get as many bass as I can as fast as I can lol. I will be trying this! I live in Western Washington. I dont see many bass fisherman here. Seems most people love the rivers or saltwater here. None of my friends fish and I have zero connection with any fisherman over here...lol. I dont even know IF there is a bass club here but I will check. I figured to be in a club you would need a bass boat and do tourneys? I roll around in my 2 man Bass raider lol. Again, Thanks for alllllll the feedback. Sorry if I didnt respond to all the questions! I'm getting what you guys are putting down! Now I just need to learn it lol.
  17. I have to go to work but I will read all the replies later on today!! Thanks for the all feed back guys!
  18. Ummm, I just went and put together a baitcaster, I think 6'9 medium heavy rod with 20lb mono. I havent got into all the rod and line switching part of the sport yet.
  19. actually sound advice lol....i will def start doing that!
  20. OK, I have caught inbetween 100-200 bass i would say since i started bass fishing not that long ago. I missed all of last year due to a shoulder injury but I am back this year. I went out for the first time yesterday and caught 5 decent ones I would say. I am always watching videos and I get frustrated because I literally STILLLLL cant tell when I have a bass on. In fact, Ive probably missed a ton of bass that I had on but didnt know it. Minus the obvious signs like top water explosions or my line taking off like a bad out of hell I just cant tell!! Ill be reeling in and Ill think i have a snag and its because I am reelin in a bass....lol. So I never really set the hook. I just get lucky that the bass really took my lure. I want to be able to sit there and KNOW i have one on.....reel in the slack and SET THE d**n HOOK!!! lol.... Do I need to maybe make some friends in my area and see if they can maybe teach me something? hahahaha Signed....... FRUSTRATED!!!
  21. Hey man, I picked up mine at the sportco in Fife....they had one more identical to mine left and they had one 360 there which I was going to buy but it doesnt have a seat or drive for it yet and I didnt want to wait cause I'm a "I want it NOW" guy....lol My parents live on deep lake and that's why I went there first....I've caught a couple decent bass in the past and tons of trout. The most annoying part of deep lake is the algae/seawead or whatever basically goes to the top of the lake.....drives me nuts!
  22. Not gonna lie its pretty nice....depending on what I was doing I ended up using both controls today. Here is my first fish on the new Hobie......skunked on the bass though Deep lake Washington
