  1. Basically long vs short rod versions of the same thing. DM me if you want a good deal on the TB, I found that I just don’t really enjoy big bait fishing as much and I’m looking to sell. I’ve handled the Mark and used the TB, both are quite impressive rods but the key difference is the length. The mark will bomb, the TB can frog.
  2. Hope you find it helpful! The collection is definitely coming along, I sold my St Croix Legends and NRX+ because the P5s just suit me better and I don’t mind selling off what doesn’t quite do it in favor of the thing that nails my tastes. I’m basically all Megabass from multiple lineups with one of the new Steez AGS in the mix for fun. If he likes shorter rods, definitely hard to go wrong with the Super Destroyer. I’ve played with it, definitely want one. Perfect Pitch seems to also have its own cult following. And I really love my X-bites, in its wheelhouse I don’t have anything that comes close. Sold my NRX+ 853c to get it.
  3. I would base your rod choice on the preferred weight range you have in mind for the rod. X-bites is awesome but I don’t go above a 3/8 oz jig with a smaller trailer. It’s AWESOME for light texas rigs and 1/4-3/8 oz jigs. You can get by rolling with 1/2 oz jigs but it’s not my favorite. Super destroyer is shorter and slightly stouter and bonus for being extremely versatile. I’ve heard of folks throwing big squarebills on it then pitching jigs under docks (the new p5 model not the older destroyer if it’s still floating around). Everyone I know who has this rod just raves about it. FMJ picks up where the X-bites leaves off. It does fine with 3/8 oz + trailer but can go up to about 3/4 oz + trailer. It’s definitely beefier and stouter, think the ubiquitous NRX 873 but a tad faster. I love this thing but I’m still learning its range. I feel very confident saying I really enjoy for jigs, heavier texas rigs, pitching, and 1/2+ oz dark sleepers. BMG is even bigger than the FMJ but bends much deeper, so if you like a slower rod that does awesome with deep bottom contact but also has tons of junk applications, this is supposedly the one. Haven’t tried this one yet but I’ve heard great reports. It’s on my shortlist of next rods, along with the Super Destroyer.
  4. that’s the one and it’s far from the only video. There are even videos you may not expect it to feature, such as when he used it to skip 6” magdrafts under docks.
  5. Sensitivity is absolutely there, even on 3/8 oz. It can throw 3/8 but really likes 1/2+. It’s awesome for spinnerbaits. 3/8 spinnerbait with a very small trailer is perfectly fine, same with chatterbaits. I’ve thrown 3/8 oz squarebills around it, and casting it definitely feels like more power than I would like but she gets the job done. I would note that if you are leaning more towards a single hook moving bait rod, the other super versatile moving bait rod in the lineup is the Dark Sleeper. I do not own this rod, but as I understand it it’s not as great with trebles while being superior with single hooks. That being said, I’m extremely happy with both the treble and single hook moving bait capabilities of my Madbull.
  6. Mad bull is amazing. I know which YouTube videos to send you to but I can’t share that enthusiast information with you on this discussion forum without having my comment deleted again. Suffice to say there is a YouTube channel that heavily features that rod. It’s an insanely good, all purpose moving bait rod between 1/2-1 oz. I throw the iLoud, larger squarebills, buzzbaits, chatterbaits, 5” magdrafts, whatever really so long as it’s in the weight range and moves. When I just want to bring one rod do a ton of stuff, I’ll even throw a little bottom contact on there with surprisingly good results.
  7. I feel like the longer or lifetime warranties are baked into the price. I prefer the P5 to an NRX+, which is $125 more so basically the price difference to me comes down to a $125 insurance policy. I’d rather have the cost savings and roll the dice but that’s just me. As for a matter of taste, the only reason I can tell the difference is because I tried a bunch of different ones and was more than willing to trade in if it didn’t suit my preferences 100%. As my tastes changed over time, the P5 just felt like exactly what I was looking for. And they aren’t popular in my area so I often get a great deal on them at the local shops.
  8. I have full blown Megabassitis. I sold all of my NRX+ and Legend X/Elite rods to switch to all P5s and I am so very happy with them. NRX+ is SLIGHTLY more sensitive in my hands but I much prefer the P5s for how they fish, how they cast, and that almost secondary action of flex into the blank. Go into this without any illusion that you may be tempted to keep going once you get one, even if it feels unreasonable right now.
  9. 60-70 lb for everything including moving baits. I listened again, I think the idea is that the minor dig-in from the lighter <55 lb braid causes loss of distance or influences the casting even if you don’t see it catching and causing the bait to stop midair. Since the heavier lays better on the spool, maybe he feels like it comes off the spool more easily. That’s what I think he’s getting at but not sure.
  10. The video where he says he picked the info up from Japanese angler Kenta Kimura? I just wish he gave more specifics than “he explained to me the physics of it”. Either way, I wanted to hear some second opinions but I’m probably going to just buy some heavy and see what I think personally too.
  11. I really didn’t think it made sense, sounded paradoxical to me when I heard it.
  12. Heard on the YouTube an interesting idea. The presenter suggested that heavier braid actually casts further than lighter braid on a baitcaster. Obviously it’s less prone to digging in but have you seen evidence to that statement? Said nothing below 50 lbs belongs on a baitcaster because that and up casts further. I’ve cast 40 and thought it did fine with distance without being afraid of digging. I believe he proposed that there was a physics reason but didn’t explain further. Seems paradoxical to me, but I haven’t really tried bombing lighter lures on bigger braid for example. More of a fluoro/mono guy for most baitcast stuff so not a lot of experience with it. Thoughts?
  13. My Megabassitis has gotten pretty severe. Docs don’t think I’ll ever recover. If you or a loved one sells off their collection of St Croix, Loomis, or Shimano rods in order to buy more, know that there is no cure. Sold my 853c NRX+ because the X-bites was my clear preference. And it just kept going.
  14. Anyone tried Z-crank 1 and 2 sized baits on the last gen or new gen? Trying to figure out if it can pull double duty for light cranks as well as the smaller jerk baits.
  15. So I’ve seen the Oneten Special out in the wild and know some folks have had the chance to try it out. How does the new Oneten Special work out? Is it that different than the Oneten Stick? On an aside, I am looking into this to figure out which multipurpose light moving bait rod I want to keep for the kayak. Jerkbait focused but adept with small cranks (3/8 more and less) would be ideal. Also considering: -Oneten Stick -Cyclone -ZCrank Elseil -6’9” Valkyrie M+ -6’9” Steez AGS M Universal Light But mostly just wanting to hear user experience with the Oneten Special. Maybe a bit about how it compares to the others.
  16. I love my Madbull. The sweet spot is definitely 1/2 oz and 3/4 oz, but it can throw a 3/8. I use my Windbuster or Ronin for smaller cranks anyway.
  17. You like Megabass so why not step down to an Orochi or Levanta? Diablo Spec-R is pretty close to the mad bull for power etc. EMTF works too.
  18. What’s your thoughts on that Super Destroyer? Is it the new p5 one or the older USA Destroyer version (I understand there is a difference of action).
  19. Ya I am very very interested in a Valkyrie. I’ve heard great things about 3 baitcast models in particular, the medium+, the mh, and the h you mentioned.
  20. I was wondering about the sensitivity on those since they have fiberglass built in. The moveable handles are very appealing for sure. The P5 rods just super do it for me, I guess it’s the woven graphite but I find they are much more versatile than other rods I’ve had. Ended up trading in an 853c NRX+ for an x-bites because I just flat out preferred how it fished.
  21. That’s the gist of what I’ve heard too, and I agree sounds perfect. But it seems pretty rare here for some reason. Was hoping someone had personal experience with it too, but you nailed exactly why I’m considering it.
  22. Looking for a versatile medium baitcast rod and prefer the Megabass lineup. The only thing I found out about this rod is from a YouTube video saying it does everything the 110 stick does just as well plus many other things much better. Sounds about like what I’m looking for, since as a kayak guy versatility is a big plus. Thoughts on that statement and that rod? thanks!
  23. You should seriously check out the Whippet, unless you want the extra length from the Baby Plugging. I use it for those techniques you listed, and would prefer the added length of the baby plugging for throwing those super finesse swim baits but for the rest I think the Whippet excels. Especially love it for the Nanahan and 110 JR, as well as light drop shot.
  24. The whole point of spending money on a rod is enjoyment in using it and thus excitement about fishing. When I love something I just love it. Why do I need a reason more than that to spend on enjoyment?
  25. what is it you don’t like? I’ve heard the Randy Blaukat anti-braid thing and it makes sense to me but I really, really hate wind knots and saw value in the versatility. But I could maybe force myself to keep fluoro on a ronin I just got in the mail today and keep trying it. Also tried backreeling and just made a tangled mess lol.
