  1. Well crap, I’ve only had the boat a couple months and I’m already pulling it out. Probably a little less than 5200% chance I’ll need to do that again...
  2. It sits a bit above the usual waterline, but I’ve no doubt it gets plenty wet.
  3. Picked up a new HB unit today because the side imaging unit i ordered with my boat was mistakenly replaced with a regular 2D sonar unit. I need to run the cable for the new transducer. This screw in the pic that holds the cable....should I just squirt some silicone in that hole before re-tightening when I run the new cable? Or is there something else I should use? Thanks!
  4. I bet you’re right. I’m a total and complete rookie at this. Most of the lakes here I’ll fish are no wake so most of the time it won’t matter....but I do need to learn. I’m looking for someone local who can come out with me and show me what I don’t know and need to know. It’d be a plus if they could teach me to read my Humminbird!
  5. The plug worked, no more spray in the boat, thanks for the advice. As far as leaning to port, it does it at idle and underway, but less so at speed on plane. Didn’t really have a chance to play with weight distribution today so will have to try that out next time.
  6. Sssshhhhhhh!!! My 11 year old boy and I are about to take the boat and go fish. Wife thinks he shouldn’t miss school (he’s “sick”, so far as the school knows!) but I say boating and fishing is likely a better life skill than anything he’d learn in school today.
  7. I was thinking of just sealing it with some silicone
  8. So I picked up a plug today. Did yours fit a bit loose/sloppy? Mine won’t fall off but it sure isn’t a tight fit or really a tight seal. Guess I’ll find out tomorrow if it fixes the problem!
  9. I’ll let her know you said that!
  10. I’ve only had her out once, but I believe it was noticeable while underway for sure, not necessarily at faster speeds. Don’t remember if it was that way at idle. Going back out tomorrow so will pay attention to that. But it was definitely very obvious while moving at least at slower speeds. As long as you guys are helping to educate me, explain the trim to me. I get you start out all the way down. I’d do this, then get up on plane quickly. But I didn’t really feel like the position of the boat would change much with small adjustments—only would start slapping a bit of I trimmed too much. Big thing I noticed—small trim adjustments up while on plane would increase mph by 3-5 mph. On plane, I should be running basically parallel to the water, yes?
  11. Just doubled checked and it sits just a bit lower than the bottom of the hull
  12. Do you have a plug in your transducer mount? I’ve heard now that the plug can remedy this. Maybe I should try that first.... this is what my mount looks like.... I guess the plug fits in the slot between the screws and the cylinder part of the bracket?
  13. The transducer is on that side...I’ll look into the plug, thanks!
  14. First time boat owner, took my Lund Rebel XL 1650 out for the first time today. I’m a total noob, so maybe I have unrealistic ideas about what should happen, but I have a couple of questions about my experience. 1. The boat rides heavy on the port side—meaning it noticeably leans that way. Normal? It was me and another person in the boat, very little gear and a full tank of gas. 2. The rear jump seats get WET. There is a decent spray that come up on the starboard side of the motor, hits the motor and then sprays/redirects right into the back of the boat. That seems.....not ok? It’s like a steady spray. Maybe it’s from how I was driving as a rookie? I admittedly have little idea how to efficiently use the trim. Thanks for any advice/help!
  15. So I did it. Only took 2 minutes because I dropped a screw and had to fish it out. I’d feel dumb driving my boat 2+ hours to my dealer for that...
  16. That looked super hard. Two nuts and a push connector? I’m no mechanic....
  17. My new boat was hit by the Mercury recall for the IAC valve. My dealer just sent me the part, said it was super easy to swap out, not worth a long drive for a 2 minute job. Anybody here replaced an IAC valve on their engine? Is it really that easy? I’ve read on other forums where guys wanted to do it themselves but the dealer said it could cause warranty problems. Should that worry me before I do it?
  18. Brought home my first ever boat yesterday. Super excited. Only took me about 6 tries to get her backed into the driveway! It’s exciting and a bit overwhelming at the same time.
  19. I use this map a lot. Shows what the ponds are stocked with and other info.... https://www.iowadnr.gov/Fishing/Fish-Local
  20. Charge guy money to park in your own driveway....INSANE! I’m not totally against covenants—keeps your neighbors from painting their house orange and having a junkyard on their property....but things like parking a normal vehicle in the driveway cost you money just seems crazy. I wasn’t allowed to build a shed on my property, so I built a “kids playhouse” instead! I’m probably gonna risk parking it in my driveway during fishing season...but all’s it takes is one Karen to throw a fit...
  21. It’s a blizzard here in Iowa today. I’m in no hurry to get it home and have to figure out storage. I have a 3 car garage, but it’s about 1/2 occupied by my woodworking tools. Wife’s car takes up the rest. Gonna need to do some serious rearranging before I bring it home. Just realized yesterday that my development has covenants that restrict boats or rv’s from parking on the street or in your driveway for more than 7 cumulative days in a year. Luckily that covenant sunsets in 4 years as Iowa has a law setting covenant limits to 21 years. Until then I have to cram her in the garage!
  22. It felt great...paid for the cost of the electronics and trolling motor!
  23. Thanks....I’m not so sure they made a mistake though.....they probably would have been happy to have me pay $3600 more....
  24. Update: Dealer told me they rig it. I asked about just purchasing the cheaper boat and was told a few hours later that they made a mistake on my boat price, that it should be roughly the same as the in stock model, so I signed a new purchase agreement with the new lower price.
