I am no jig expert by any means, but just over the past few years, fishing every chance I get from sun up to sun down. I’ve come to the realization that nothing beats time on the water. If I could give you any advice I would suggest getting an all purpose type jig that can somewhat do it all, 3/8-7/16oz ball head jig with a couple different style of trailers. Something like a Santone Lures Texas Finesse jig, some speed craws, and some super chunks is what I’d recommend and just get on the water and cast/flip/pitch that jig until your hands are raw. When you start developing patterns and catching fish you’re confidence will go up and before you know it that jig setup will be glued to your hand.

? I’ve had a couple Falcon Bucoo rods, actually broke one in two pieces so I kinda started to shy away from Falcon altogether. I’ve never used the LowRider, Expert, or Cara series unfortunately but I’ve heard nothing but good things about them. I’ve pretty much narrowed it down to 3 brands so far Falcon, Dobyns, and Castaway. Just wanna put a few in my hand before I pull the trigger. Thank you all for sharing your thoughts

Yeah I wish they had that rod in the low rider series, that rod sounds a lot like what I’m lookin for. 6’10 to 7’2 I think would be ideal. Just can’t stand pitchin my jig and hittin tree limbs overhead or having my line get tangled in them lol

Not looking to spend more than $175 on the rod, being that I’m gonna end up getting a reel for this setup as well. And I typically don’t throw anything over a 1/2 oz since it’s usually pretty shallow where I’m fishing. 8ft or less

Also, any recommendations on a reel for pitchin light baits, have heard the Shimano Curado 70 is good for this but haven’t had a chance to use one. Thanks. This will mainly be a setup for pitchin to lay downs and light cover.

So I particularly fish shallow a lot, mainly pitchin light jigs and Texas rigged soft plastics around cover. The rivers and bayous I fish mainly are narrow and have a lot of over hanging cover and the 7’6 Flippin stick I have is not cuttin it. Looking to buy a shorter rod with decent backbone to get the job done. What do you guys use/or have in mind?
