  1. I'm not the best expert, but this is what I'm seeing, In the last few days (including yesterday) I've seen multiple larger SM cruising parallel to the shore in 3-8 ft. of water. I've not seen much on the fishfinder at drop-offs. My best to date (3.7) was caught on a swimmn caffeine shad. What part of western Maine are you from? Jim
  2. I sized the pics to half of what they were, still no joy. Any other thoughts?
  3. I think I'm getting confused. My understanding is post image will auto resize to whatever size you pick. My pics are 640 x 480 because that's the size I picked. This size was working for multiple pics. until recently.
  4. Thanks, What size are your pics. at ? maybe that's my issue?
  5. I am using postimage and have been for some time. Lately though I have trouble posting more than 1 picture. I'm just trying to understand why.
  6. Saw the first sign of the spawn yesterday. A few fresh beds and males in the shallows. However the weather is calling for lows in the mid 30's the next couple of nights. That isn't going to help.
  7. I'll give it a try. Any idea what changed on the site ? If it's happening to both of us I don't think it could be our computers.
  8. pics are 640X480, same size they have always been.
  9. Sorry to put this here but I put this in "everything else" a few days ago and no one answered. I used to be able to post multiple pictures here, but the last few times I tried to everything went screwy. Did something change on the forums so we can't do that any more? Thanks Jim
  10. Take my wife. She is disabled and can't do a lot of things, but she loves being on the water. I won't go with out her. There are days she out fishes me.
  11. At one time I would have said tubes, but my new favorite has to be the swimmn caffeine shad. You can't fish it wrong. Caught the last LM on one last fall, stayed on my rod all winter, cast it out this spring and it still works. First one on a swimmn, caffeine shad this spring. 3.7
  12. Thanks everyone, I'm headed back up tomorrow. I'll be curious to see if they have started towards the beds yet.
  13. thanks for the response everyone. I think I'll start simple and try some spray Teflon. Jim
  14. Hi all, Can anyone recommend anything to make the carpet in trailer bunks more slicker? To keep my boat centered on the trailer when loading I can't have the bunks too far in the water, so winching it up takes some effort. Also the hull on my Lund is all painted and I'm worried about wearing thru the paint. I already dunk the trailer in water and pull it up some, so the bunks are wet, but it doesn't help much. I heard about a product called liquid roller. Anyone try that? Thanks Jim
  15. Your issue sounds strange. The only thing I can think of is maybe what they are eating is only about 2" this time of year. I would be curious to see if larger baits work later on as their food source grows.
  16. Throw a paddle tail swim bait beyond the bed. Swim it to the bed and let it drop in the bed. If bass think it's something trying to disturb the bed they will pick it up and move it out of the bed. Works with tubes too.
  17. Thanks I appreciate it.
  18. I'm not going to say I bullied them for a replacement, but I was kind of persistent. Swapping it out was easy, and I really put it thru the wringer yesterday. Now that it's working, I couldn't be happier. I consider it money well spent. thanks again Jim
  19. I was at a good SM lake yesterday. I fish this quite often and am very familiar with it. Up to now there is no sign of fresh beds. ( during the spawn it's not unusual to see 50 or so beds in my travels). I checked a few drop offs , points, and there wasn't much on the fish finder. What I did see was a lot of SM cruising parallel to the shore in about 3-6 ft. of water. Some times just one, some times three or four, both small and a few really good size ones. I've seen this before and have always taken this to be the last pre spawn behavior. ( kind of like musical chairs, moving around just before the last mad dash). The water temp. has been moving up the last few days. Last week it was in the mid to upper 40's. Yesterday it was 51 early in the A.M. and up to 55 when we left. My gut tells me the spawn is coming real soon, within days. So my question is : Is my interpretation of what I am seeing accurate? I have always assumed this is what is happening, but it would be nice to get confirmation. Thanks Jim
  20. UPDATE-- Got a new I pilot control head from Minn Kota. Installed it and tried it out. TM ran perfectly!!. Ran it for over 6 hrs. and not a single hiccup. Think we're good to go. Jim
  21. This may sound overly simplistic, but it sounds like you've fished every where you think they should be, try fishing all the areas you think they couldn't be. More than once I've run down a bank or drop off, doing everything right with no joy. My wife will lob a Senko out in the middle of nowhere and hook a nice one. I have no idea what it was doing out there, but there it was.
  22. Getting longer fish is easy, just pick up the " Stretch-O-Matic " fish stretcher from Ronco?
