Hello from Port Perry, Ontario, Canada
Wicked! I live on the water, if you remember the nonquon river? I'm just at the bend where it starts to empty into the main lakes. Caught my PB's on the dock!

Hello from Port Perry, Ontario, Canada
Not sure if I ever posted on this particular page yet but I'm in my upper 30's, a long drink of water at about 6'8. My dad always took me fishing at the cottage as a kid, I liked it but kinda lost touch with it in my teens until late 20's. Now I'm addicted. When I signed up on this forum I swear I had a user name and now it appears I have a random computer generated one? Anyone know how I can fix that? Thanks Greg

Whats Europe's most popular sport fish?
I've watched some perch fishing videos from the Netherlands. They are huge! Like LMB size. I thought that was cool. Definitely seen lots of pike fishing too.

All Around gear ratio 6:1 vs 7:1
It's so awesome and interesting reading topics like this, helps me to understand there isn't ONE right or wrong answer. Everyone has their own way of doing things which may work for them and not others! But at the very least it's cool to learn from everyone's personal fishing styles! I generally use a 7 for almost everything, I've used my 6 and definitely got owned by a few fish I couldn't catch up too but at the end of the day I do this for fun and when that happens I get to tell everyone it was like a 5lber that got away! ?

The Frog Fishing Thread
Thanks dude! What you've listed is legit going on my TW order lol. I've done some research, which is basically me watching too many YouTube froggin videos! Be interesting to see if this scum frog lives up to the hype, the bully wa was lights out for me. It's a bigger frog and the plastic is actually pretty firm but I didn't miss many. But it does have a decent sized keel on the bottom so it's not very good for slop, matt's or lilly pads. I find it kinda rolled over onto its side then you'd snag with your hook on that side. The new Bobby's perfect sounds like it should take care of that problem perfectly!

Frog'n Reel Recommendations
Getting back to my OP any of you frog masters care to provide a suggestion for a reel for me? Or more unrelated statements? Maybe my original post was confusing. I know what speed I want, I know what kind of braid I'm throwing. I'm purely looking for a make/model of reel. Thanks!

Bling or no bling
I'd love to say cosmetics don't matter to me but I can't. I'm a weekend warrior and as such when I have the ability to get a new combo I can't help but take appearance into consideration. That being said I own a BPS rod that has a red colouring to it, a megabass Levante, the SLX rod that has cool blue parts so unknowingly I have to admit some of my gear has some flash to it. However I just brought home my new baby girl, an Expride B and she's gotta be the prettiest piece of fishing gear I own! And it's all black with a cord handle. So beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess. I generally find tho if less time and money is spent on making it look nice, that time and money is spent making it work right and lasting longer. Which ultimately is what everyone wants. Sometimes you just have to go the ugly route, the uncool, unpopular choice.

Yea I don't usually make massive BOMB casts and the Curado DC is both over budget and out of stock always in my area. Curado K I think has been and is currently the top runner for sure. All that being said I don't know why but I'm in the mood to try another brand. All I own are shimanos and I like them but the way I see it how will I ever know if I like something else better without trying it. Also been interested in trying a Tatula, got any recommendations in that line? And I can't explain this at all but for some reason I really want to try a Lews reel. I have no idea why, maybe cause in my area no one carries them but all the YouTube videos I watch alot of people use them so I'm interested! I'm actually super interested in trying a Lews out! My only question to your recommendation is I don't plan to be using this to skip much, and this reel will be for standard to larger sized frogs for fishing heavy junk/weeds/Lilly and slop! I don't need it to cast miles but I'd like to be able to send it 120-150yards on 50lb braid.

Thank you for replying! Definitely take at look at that Lew's. I don't know why I can't explain it but I really want to try a Lews reel. Thanks for the frog tips! You know what's hilarious, the Launch Series Scum frog and the new Bobby's perfect are #2 and #3 on my list to try this year. Hearing great things about that scum frog. What's the deal with the trophy series?

Frog'n Reel Recommendations
Im very familiar with the SLX line I own 2 or 3 already. Which is kind of why I was thinking of something else. With so many different options why not try something new. Plus I haven't been BLOWN away with the SLX line, for me it's just a money thing, they are good for the price. This is why the Lew's interests me so much. Just annoying no shop within an hour's drive carries Lew's!

Frog'n Reel Recommendations
Well I pulled the trigger on an Expride B for my new frog rod. I've never spent that much on a rod before so I'm still feeling a bit guilty but everytime I look at it I smile so that's gotta be a good sign lol. Next step is the reel. My head is telling me to go with a more budget friendly reel to compensate for the price of the rod but then the little devil on my shoulder says why the hell would you cheap out on the reel for such a nice rod. HELP! I have watched hours of YouTube videos on frog fishing and just about everyone uses a different reel so it's not really helping, actually making it tougher cause it gives too many options. I've looked into the Curado 200K, SLX, Lews super duty 300, 13 fishing concept A. Hopefully you fine people can help me out yet again. I live in Canada so again prices for me are much different then anyone is the US, as well as product availability. Lews products in specific I find are difficult to get locally. What I do know is I want something strong, light and fast. I think the absolute top end of my budget would be in the $280 price point. Again that's Canadian dollars. Obviously cheaper would be better. What would y'all suggest? Thanks Greg

new expride b in the house
I just grabbed the 7'3 XH. Had the 7'2H in my hands as well. For me this is for my frog rod and well as flipping a jig in the grass this summer. It was a tough tough choice for me, but the guys at Tacticalbassin swear by the 7'3 XH for froggin so I went that way. This is my first real "nice" rod and oh my gosh it sure is purdy! I can't even really believe it's an XH with how light it is. I'm absolutely dying to try it out but where I live the season doesn't open until mid June. Not really sure how I'm going to last that long!

Expride B or Expride A?
I just picked up the Expride B, 7'3 XH for exactly the same reason as you want one. I had the 7'2H in my hand as well. The tip of the H was much softer but I went for the XH almost purely based on the recommendation of Matt and Tim from Tacticalbassin. I can't comment on what the A's were like but I can tell you the B's are absolutely beautiful and I can't wait to use it! Not sure where you'd even be able to find the A's anymore. They were basically sold.out everywhere and no longer in production.

Frog Combo - should I go Heavy or Extra Heavy
I think this wins for me. Cause I really want to try flip heavy weeds with a big jig this summer so although sounds like the H would be good, I went XH for the theory of I don't need to be worried about how gnarly the cover is AND I can also pitch that jig in thick grass this summer.
-
Frog Combo - should I go Heavy or Extra Heavy
Yea as long as they still have it left in-stock! But with the XH I can also use it to flip heavy matt's and grass. That was my thinking. The two lakes I fish are weeds from shore to shore.

Frog Combo - should I go Heavy or Extra Heavy
Crap I went for the XH. Yea I definitely don't have BIG BIG bass in my area. Heck I'm still chasing my PB of a 5lber. I just figured I'd go XH cause better to be stronger then weaker? I also follow and take alot of advice from Matt and Tim of Tacticalbassin and for years their favorite frog rod is the Expride XH but in all honesty I didn't really think about the size of fish they catch compared to mine. Should I try going back to exchange it for the H?

Frog Combo - should I go Heavy or Extra Heavy
Got notified yesterday my local shop just got a handful of the new Exprides in. I was looking to get a new frog rod and the timing is perfect. I had them but the 7'2H and the 7'3XH aside for me to come in today and feel them. This is going to primarily be my frog rod but was also wondering if it could be a pitching stick too, maybe jig rod. But primarily it's for froggin. Which model do people think would best suit my needs?
