  1. I find myself having more and more plastics from big bite baits these days.....
  2. I've been using the FG for two seasons now. It's proven itself to be strong enough for any fishing I do and I've also proven to myself if you don't take the time to learn it properly and tie it properly everytime and not just "good enough" it can come undone/slip. That being said I seem to always always have not a super clean finish to it. I usually tie 1 regular overhand knot to secure the FG then I tie two or three more to really lock it down but then I usually end up with a not so streamlined FG in the end that has a small tag end sticking out that it so gosh darn sharp! Once you've done your wraps and your ready to finish the knot how do y'all do that?
  3. I picked up a sun perch coloured zman custom chatterbait. Probably going to throw a GP and pearl white zako. Im trying to key in on the perch bite. So I may even try using a real yellow perch printed Largo shad paddle tail
  4. GP is the winner. But if we're talking a Yamamoto senko, light green pumpkin red flake is hands down the best.
  5. Googan bandit bug, rage craw
  6. I'd love to share some local tips, sadly I have no idea what fly streamers are lol are you talking about fly fishing in a stream?
  7. I just bought an Expride B, extra Heavy for the number 1 task of throwing hollow body frogs on. But I also want to try flipping a big jig in thick grass on it. That's my plan this summer.
  8. Yea I'm in Canada mate, prices are always higher here. But you are right they seem to be more in the $400 price range from competitors. So my hunch was probably correct, I think he's just trying to make it seem like a crazy deal when it's more of just a deal type of situation.
  9. Just curious if anyone has first hand experience with this reel? My local shop is having there big sale and I was looking for a reel, all reels across the board are no tax but the 13 fishing line has been marked down considerably. The best deal is on that concept z reel. Regular price was close to $500, and he is blowing them out for $250. I feel like he just has way too much stock on them and no one's buying them. But at the discounted price I am tempted but can't find much about em. They are pretty hideous looking IMO.
  10. Update Still in the market for this reel but I happened to check a local stores website this morning and they have a Tatula 150, on sale for 167.99 plus tax. Regular price for me on this reel is $199 plus tax. Should I jump on this one or wait? My more favorited local shop is having their annual fishing sale end of April. On a reel I'm most likely only going to save tax, and only what they have available at the time. The only thing that seems odd is in the picture it shows the 6:3 speed model but there's only the 7:3 model left R or L retrieve. The site literally does t mention any other speeds, all the models they have which is 4 or 6 are all 7:3:1 so I'm not really sure what's going on there.
  11. For what it's worth I think I'm going to try the Tatula Elite or the Curado 150 mgl. Mines focus is for frog fishing tho. That Okuma Haika (pretty sure I didn't get the name right) looks pretty neat too.
  12. Braid I can do no problem. But fluro, big problem. Jacob wheeler has a good video on his YouTube how he ties it and a little trick he says makes it or breaks it but I can't seem do do it. So frustrating cause it's so fast and simple with braid!
  13. So past year was my first real go with fluro. I fish heavy junk almost exclusively so I'm usually on braid all day. But Im trying to better my skills and started playing around with fluro. Ive watched countless videos on YouTube, tried several different knots. Found one I liked actually but I love the Palomar knot for how easy it is. I know some of the pros use a Palomar on fluro but when I try I get broke off way too often. I wet my line, keep for burn or and damage, if it's twisted or just not right I'll retie but for some reason I have zero confidence with this knot on fluro. What am I doing wrong? Or what knot should I look into?
  14. I do one lap on the spool with electrical tape, tie my line to the spool then one small piece of tape over the knot and then spool it all the way up. I totally get why people put mono backings on I'm just too lazy. Never had an issue but I'm also just fishing for fun so I don't need to be as detailed as some.
  15. Interested in hearing your choice! I'm also looking for a reel for my Expride B. But mines for froggn so we have different needs out of the reels. That being said Im thinking about going with the Tatula Elite. But when the time comes for me to pull the trigger I may be tempted by that Curado 150 mgl or the Lew's Super Duty G. I'm in Canada and unfortunately I don't really have any shops around me that carry Lew's so I will probably end up with the Tatula or Curado.
  16. The boat we bought last year came with a Lowrance Elite 7 hdi unit. Seems to work fine except it did not come with a mapping card or program. Does anyone know if I can use any mapping card? On the Lowrance site it just says it's compatible with Navionics Hotmaps, gold and premium. I can't seem to find these exact cards anywhere locally. Kinda scared to buy a card online incase it doesn't work. My local shop has the Navionics Hotmaps platinum tho, can I use that? If I can use it, that card is $309 plus tax. I can get a brand new hummingbird helix with a mapping card included for $399. Seems like my unit isn't really worth investing a new card into?
  17. Ahhhh, thanks mate! I actually don't like the colour of the scorpion, it's what's holding me back lol. I like a black reel. No colour or flashiness. It's starting to look like I'm going with a Tatula. Just because they are so available to me locally. I'm thinking the Elite. But with spring sales about to happen and used reels always being an option you never know!
  18. Is the new Curado MGL any different from the JDM Scorpion? There's a scorpion forsale online, used so I'm just wondering aside from colour I thought the Scorpion had the MGL spool which was the only difference. But now that they made one for our market why bother with the JDM version?
  19. Consider me subscribed, as that new Curado MGL is on my list. So was a Lews reel, heck and a Tatula. To see how you ranked your list is very shocking to me. I will say I have just recently spoke to someone else who was not as impressed by the new Curado MGL as the rest of the internet is. So it's made for very interesting reading.
  20. Best thing to do is look at the specs sheet on each site. Just compare the specs and that should tell you the truth!
  21. My first bait cast setup was a Fenwick HMG with an Abu Garcia Silver Max. It did the trick and taught me how to use a bait caster.
  22. Nice, I'll never use maxcuatro again tho. Never broken off as much as I have with that ****. Hated it.
  23. Yea I've been looking at that. Big enough spool, holds enough braid for you?
  24. Thanks! I'm not so much worried about how to frog fish, more so just looking for suggestions on a good reel for frog fishing. But thanks for the feedback!
