  1. Absolutely!
  2. If I could marry "fishing" I would. It gives me thrills and chills more than I'd like to admit. That being said, I fish as much as possible.
  3. Awesome thank you!
  4. People leaving trash bothers me alot. I smoke cigarettes, but I have a pouch i put my cigarette butts into. Casting and getting a irretrievable snag really sucks. I feel your pain. I always keep a bottle of Off! Sportsmens in my carry bag.
  5. I moved to southeast MA 1 1/2 years ago and have been hitting this area of the state hard with bank and wader fishing. Haven't fished since early december when I caught a 3lb pickerel at Orrs pond in Attleboro. I have a inflatable kayak that I've been thinking about trying out for fishing this spring. I would like to get a regular kayak or a jon boat but my current living situation won't allow for it. From what i understand it has something to do with the sound from the bait itself being different than a regular chatter
  6. Thats awesome! I am currently doing bank and wader fishing, unfortunately there is no room for a boat where I live. I don't know if that would impact meeting up and throwing some lines together.
  7. I live in Attleboro right off 95 near RI. I drive all over to fish though so if you ever want to meet up that would be swell!
  8. Definitely true, i use two different rods for both interchangeably. I do find myself pitching more than flipping. I try to go with the strongest but yet still relatively light rod as possible and i definitely do use braid but i also fish in extremely dense milfoil and lilies. For some years now the waters up here have been absolutely choked because of so many nutrients in the water. It makes fishing more of a challenge thats for sure. I use a Dobyns Fury 7' medium heavy and sometimes a St Croix triumph medium heavy 7' with braid and a fluoro leader. We are choked with grass and lily pads up here and I find braid definitely works best. Sometimes with a fluorocarbon leader.
  9. That is a matter of opinion. Different rods for different anglers. Its all about what feels comfortable to you. Specification wise though, you need a medium heavy / heavy rod with a decent action on the tip. Something with enough strength in the blank of the rod to handle serious power pulls and yet still provide good sensitivity. Braided line is also a must because when it comes to flipping and pitching you are going to be in heavy cover whether its vegetation like hydrilla, milfoil, or lilies or submerged structure like trees or boulders. If that fish wraps around that type of stuff you need the line strength to work her out of there without losing the line, lure and fish. # strength of the braid is dependent on all of the above and whether or not your trying to finesse. Use a fluorocarbon leader in that situation. Dobbyns makes a excellent medium heavy and so does St Croix and 13.
  10. It definitely matters what the ratio of baitfish to predator fish there is. A 1 acre pond can only hold 100lbs of fish under natural circumstances, its a natural balancing act. Also whether there is common carp, which wont eat fish. A ton of different variables to consider. Depending on the ratio, the bass might be stunted if there are many with not alot of forage or they might lunkers because of a low bass population and a higher ratio of other species. Plus obviously cover and structure matters as well. Another thing to remember is that depth doesnt always necessarily mean bigger fish. Plankton in the water produce the majority of the oxygen fish breathe, and the oxygen levels drop significantly the deeper you go. Bass are upwards predators that like to be below their prey ( it helps knowing there most likely isnt anything below you when you are hunting). The oxygen and the water temperature is what causes turnover in depth liveability in alot of bodies of water.
  11. Hey man! I fish in little ponds around here for the most part. They have yellow and black bullhead. I would love to catch some channels! Thats awesome man!
  12. Hey everyone! My names Scotty. I fish as much as possible when I'm not working. I target mainly bass, catfish and pickerel ( I love the fight pickerels give), looking to get into pike fishing. Been fishing my whole life, grew up in north central Texas. I recently joined BASS and am excited to try to get into some local tournaments. Looking forward to conversing with all of you! I have been reading these forums for awhile and there is some quality discussions here for sure. Tight lines!!!!
