  1. I just criss cross two o-rings. Same effect.
  2. I don't know that we have any locally. Those are some stiff fees. Though, with the state of a lot of the public fisheries local to me, it doesn't seem as crazy if it means landing some quality fish and not getting skunked as much. Especially if the lake and the fish populations are healthy and well cared for.
  3. Dumb question. How would you describe this style of jig and what trailer (if any) would you fish it with? The weight(?) on the shank of the hook doesn't look to be a bait keeper, though I suppose I could thread it into a creature trailer.
  4. Curly tail grub. Ive gotten trout, bluegill, crappie, perch, bass and carp all on a grub.
  5. I rock these bad boys for both summer and winter. They don't actually get too hot in the summer, long as you're spending regular intervals in water higher than your knees. Just dress appropriately. They're a god send if you do any winter trout fishing like I do, very toasty. https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/cabelas-supermag-chest-waders-for-men Only complaint is the boots are rather heavy for being uninsulated. With two pairs of thick wool socks though, I can do about 8 hours at 20 degrees before my toes are numb. Up here thats most of the daylight you have anyway. A note about the felt bottom wading boots. Check your local laws, some states are starting to ban them on public water ways because of the concern of the transfer of invasive and non-native species between bodies of water.
  6. I only repack them if the original packages don't seal.
  7. What are you gonna throw that bad boy on? 5’6” Light Fast for that extra sensitivity??
  8. I use a lefty bait caster. Same rod and reel hands as my spinning set up
  9. These are the sort of rules of thumb I'm still experimenting with and figuring out for myself. I'm recently into bait casters and have similar experience. Saving them mostly for the heavier tackle with roughly the same cut off as you. Thank you!
  10. Just curious if any of you have had luck when downsizing, throwing a light Texas rig on a spinning set up. I was digging through some of my soft plastics and found some 2.5 and 3" paddle tail grubs meant for walleye that look like they would do well paired with say a 1/0 hook and a 1/32nd or 1/16th bullet weight. Seems like this would make a another nice wedless combo for a M or ML spinning set up if you're trying for a lighter more finesse-y presentation with the option of a pinned or unpinned weight. Anyone try this? Pic for reference
  11. Don't worry, I'm originally from Chicago. They just haven't caught me yet
  12. Hello everyone! Long time reader of the forum, finally decided to join the party. I've been fishing most of my life for multi-species but have just recently started to get into the finer points of fishing (how to work different presentations, matching lures to rod and reel combos, etc.) so I figured I'd join up. Currently working on mastering a new bait caster and getting ready for an Arkansas trip to Norfork in May. Thank you for all you've passively taught me over the year and hopefully I can start contributing!
  13. I flat pack all my hooks, swivels, bobber stops, etc. in a plastic bait wallet I was given for free. Tucks nicely into one of the pockets in my tackle backpack.
