  1. Ive been practicing with my spinning combo just to cut down on the bird nests lol. It helps me get the motion down. I also got a tip from someone on this forum to practice in the driveway. Thats also helped me a ton. I go out and cast my Texas rig set up on the driveway and practice my thumb control. Next time I was out on the water my practice definitely helped but ill be completely honest I still screw it up. Just keep practicing!
  2. Good easy way to keep an eye on it. Thank you! Great thank you! I got a couple new combos and just wanted to make sure im taking proper care because I want these things to perform like new as long as possible!
  3. Ok thank you! Ill give this a go. I appreciate the info!
  4. Is there a easy way to check what pound your drag is set to?
  5. Thats great information. Thank you!
  6. Sorry I hate to be the guy who asks questions others have asked. I just wanted some info specifically on why to loosen the drag after fishing. I went through a few topics and only found people saying to do it but not saying why to do it
  7. Intresting. Ill have to do some research and see if my reel has carbontex washers. Thanks for the info on that. I had no idea Just looked and it says carbon fiber drag system. Id assume that's the same or close enough to carbontex
  8. Ive always had my drag set pretty firm. When I set the hook and bring the fish in I don't like any slip. Is there anything damaging or risky having it set up that way? I use 15lb fluro and 50lb braid. Both baitcasters. Is there a rule of thumb on how tight it should be or is it personal preference? I also read on here that some people loosen the drag after your done fishing. Ive never heard of this so ive never done it. Ive recently bought 2 new combos and want to make sure im taking proper care of them. Whats the benefit to putting the poles away with the drag set loose? Is it necessary?
  9. Exactly what I noticed using reel magic too.

  11. What does it do for braid? Ive never heard of anyone treating braided line
  12. First time using KVD line and lure after reading some good things about it here on the forum. I re-spooled with some 15lb P-Line Tactical on a bait cast reel and gave a couple sprays every so often while spooling. A couple more covering the whole spool of line once it was full. Whats the best approach for maintaining the new line? A couple strays here and there throughout the season? The night before going out fishing? Or is that overkill? I was using a different line "conditioner" the night before each outing and I swear it was drying out my line. Making it feel more stiff and almost brittle. I didn't have any line break offs and it still seemed to cast normal it just made me uneasy. I don't have much experience with line conditioner and want to make sure I don't screw something up and ruin my new line.
  13. Ive read that about the 1100 too and funny enough I never checked mine until this winter. I had the gun completely apart for a deep clean and found that the rubber ring was dry as can be and even starting to crack. I need to order a replacement ring for it. It runs perfect and always has but that cracked ring is probably going to start causing some issues. Thank for the tip about silicone lubricant. Once I get the replacement ill make sure to keep that in mind.
  14. Great to know they are that reliable! Ive only ran a couple boxes through mine and it functioned flawlessly. Its incredibly smooth and I hope to take proper care and keep it functioning perfectly.
  15. Awesome thank you for all the info! Thank you!
