  1. Fished this morning first light 6-830, greasy calm. Water is 64. Fishing was fast - lost count of how many bass I landed. Most fish came on topwater. Casts in between pockets of healthy pads or weeds near deeper water seemed to get the most strikes. Once the sun got higher, I switched to 1/4 oz swimbait and did well on outside weed lines in 10ft. Most fish hit on the initial drop. The water is very low on my pond -3-4ft down from normal levels and the weeds are still fairly healthy.
  2. Water has fluxed from 83-87 on my pond depending on the day and rain. I've been out with my 4yr old son most days so it allot of teaching moments but we have caught fish every time out on a variety of baits - swimbaits, jigs, topwater, worms etc. He has been having a blast and is addicted to fishing now. Most of the bigger fish have come on 1/2 football jig and craw trailer fished in 8-10ft where the outer weed line edges are. The amount of dragon flies is unreal some days and bass have been skying trying to eat them, and that's when topwater has worked well. Not sure why the pic is sideways.
  3. I live on a small 75-acre pond in central mass and was out on Monday mid-morning. Water is up to 55 and allot of bass have pushed shallow where pads are starting to come up. Caught a half dozen bass on a zoom fluke - all smaller around 1.5-2lbs. Went out to the same shallow flat last night throwing big wakes and swim baits and got a skunk. Had one blow up on a rat but didn't connect. Fish were there and rising occasionally just couldn't get them to commit.
  4. My pond melted out on Saturday night so I went out for a few hours sunday in the yak. Should have checked my fish finder battery prior because it was dead when I got on the water. I was able to find some bass on the bottom in green weeds about 15-20 ft of water. Got 8 bass and 2 Perch on a 1/4 oz blade bait. Whenever my blade bait got snagged in grass I would rip it to clear the grass and that's when most hits came. Did see a few fish up top but I think they were perch rising. Woke up this morning to 12 degrees and a skim of ice across the whole pond. It was nice to get out in January and catch some bass. Felt like fall conditions.

  6. I was out last night with a buddy in central MA and all we threw was big wakes - ND180 and MS Slammer 9". Caught over a dozen bass between the 2 of us but none over 3 lbs. The key was finding the warmer water. The North West edge of the lake was 54 degrees and lifeless. A cove with an outflow/current on the the Eastern side was 59 and loaded with bass. Slow retrieve with pauses worked best.
