I have a number of Shimano reels, and favour Shimano, but I agree with the above post. I own the TD Advantage (HST) model and for the money it costs, I think it might be one of the very best reels on the market.

Shimano gives you extra parts right inside the reel !!!! Hope you're not a Surgeon or car mechanic. ;D

Braid and Fluorocarbon lines share a lot of the same performance charecteristics such as low strech (not all fluoros have low stretch) and both sink to name a few. Gameover: Braid floats

The ABU C3 is not the best reel for 1/4 oz baits. That reel's "sweet spot" starts at 1/2 oz. C3's are commonly used for Muskie baits weighing 1 to 3 ounces (sometimes more).

Whoa guys. It depends on the model of rod. Granted the Ugly stick is not going to make a jig rod AND it's not a rod I would personally use for my Bass fishing. But I know some guys who swear by them (most use braid) for: Muskie trolling Salt water fishing Catfish Cranking It really does depend on the rod model, the fish, and the application.

I used spinning gear for Jerk baits almost exclusively for many years, but since buying a lot of new baitcasting gear over the past 6 months will give Baitcasters a good try this season.

I use a St. Croix Premier 7' MHF. Good price and a very versatile stick.

After reading the board for about 2 or so years, thought I would finally join. Should have joined much earlier. I especially like the info on tactics and lures and smallmouth: some really good info. Look forward to learning more as I go along.
