  1. Hey Jim. We're headed to Cayuga in a couple of weeks. Got a pontoon and plan to do some fishing. Any advice? Plan to head out into the open water (not fish as much by the shore) between 9-3 each day. Not the best fishing time/place I know but any insights are appreciated.
  2. Heading up to the Fingerlakes and planning to get a boat on Cayuga. Anyone been recently and have an insights? What's biting most mid-day and tips on how to fish up there? Nothing urgent and we'll use trial and error but having never been to a lake this size wasn't sure what to expect.
  3. Thanks folks for not bashing the noob!!!
  4. Hello all. Something of a noob here so sorry for what is probably a dumb question. Just picked up an Ugly Stik and the Daiwa Regal LT Spinning Reel. I put 10lb test on the reel easily but could not figure out why after I tightened the line and the arm was down the reel would slip backwards and let line out. I finally figured out there's a switch of some sort on the front of the reel to "lock" it so it does not loosen once tightened (unless the arm us up). My question is, when would you ever want the arm down but the switch unlocked to let line out? Didn't understand the purpose of this given I have never had a reel that had a switch.
