Hello all. Something of a noob here so sorry for what is probably a dumb question. Just picked up an Ugly Stik and the Daiwa Regal LT Spinning Reel. I put 10lb test on the reel easily but could not figure out why after I tightened the line and the arm was down the reel would slip backwards and let line out. I finally figured out there's a switch of some sort on the front of the reel to "lock" it so it does not loosen once tightened (unless the arm us up). My question is, when would you ever want the arm down but the switch unlocked to let line out? Didn't understand the purpose of this given I have never had a reel that had a switch.
