  1. Where I am in Texas, some have frozen over. Where they aren't frozen, you couldn't buy a bite for a long while. Since I made the post, I have been able to get some walleye, so I won't fish in my kids fish tank.
  2. Thank you for your service! Growing a garden in my nose, of course! Seriously though, I do fish in the winter, but as earlier stated, I am a pansy with cold weather.
  3. That's some serious dedication! We do still go out in the winter, doesn't get quite that cold here. We just can't seem to find the hungry ones. Agreed! They handle far worse conditions in the cold and still get out in it, I don't have that kind of nerve. It hurts, lol.
  4. Wow!!! He must be strong willed to keep trying! I hope he's glad he kept going. Skunkmaster, I tried that once. Needless to say, it doesn't work very well. That wind can be a bear to deal with! That's awesome! I don't have luck like that until spring. Though, I've never got a 15lb cat. Good job! People are completely insane. I agree with you about winter being a better time for fishing, without all the loud, obnoxious folks crowding the place up. My preferred time to fish is when the water temps are still cool enough that no one (around here, at least) chooses to be in it, or skiing on it, but the fish are hunting. I like it before it's 1,000° outside but not below freezing.... Yes, I'm a pansy, lol.
  5. Funny stuff! At one point, having 4 boys, we did have that magnetic fishing game. Kinda wish we still did. Lol. I get what you're saying about getting skunked so switching species. Our lake stocks trout in the cold months and we fish for them, with that being said, the last few times I've been out, I couldn't buy a bite.
  6. I like the way you think! I could go along with this!
  7. Maybe I misunderstood, you came off a little rude so I figured my attitude was appropriate. My apologies
  8. At least your ice is thick enough to stand/sit on. And who said I'm sitting at home wanting to fish. Looks to me like you can't read very well, I never said I haven't been fishing, they're just not biting. I do a lot of other things, I was just thinking that I'd sure like to feel a tug Good for you. I never said it was too cold, never implied I haven't been fishing. I was merely stating that the bite sucks right now. You people are far too serious
  9. If you do, please, record and post!!!
  10. Wanna try it and let me know if it works? We may find a solution to winter fishing blues, lol Got any extra room in your trunk for some uh... Extra luggage???
  11. Has anyone else been so desperate to feel even a little tug, that you've considered tossing a line (maybe tiny sewing thread) into your kids fish tank??? I NEED spring! I need to be on the boat with my fishing buddy, hunting for some action! Anyone else?
  12. Try changing your tactics. Maybe they're biting, but it's too soft. Maybe, they are used to what you've been throwing. There are several different routes you could go, just experiment. You may find something you really like, in trying something new.
  13. I think it matters, as stated, every application has a tool that is best for the job. Just depends on what you're doing. Best of luck
  14. Hi Luke, the choice is yours. If you want to go throw a bait around, get after it. Shouldn't matter what others think. As fishermen, we can't help ourselves when we get the opportunity to to. As far as the weather, you won't know unless you give it a shot. For me, I don't have much luck with catfish in cold snaps but that's not to say you won't. Anyhoo, go fishing if you want to and enjoy it. Spring's coming! (Though I do wish it would come a little faster) We love him too! We learn a lot from him and we get entertained
  15. I feel better now, having read that you weren't coming at me personally. I have been known to take things a bit personal from time to time, but how could you know that. Thank you for your reply to my response to your post.
  16. Ok, islandbass... I'm not sure who peed in your post toasties. I know it wasn't me, I have better manners than that, though it sounds like maybe your manners are questionable. To call me out for being a newbie and not doing my research shows your lack of patience and maybe a bit of arrogance. If you can't say something helpful to an honest question, don't reply to my post. It's plain and simple.
  17. Thanks for the welcoming words. As far as "swatting the next"... Good grief, you ain't kidding. But, there's been a lot of good info and decent arguments for both sides.
  18. I'm in, but we've got to have really good gloves!
  19. A delicious wet sock!
  20. Walleye is one, tasty, toothy predator!
  21. Not great in the way of largemouth or small. Really well with sand bass. Didn't get out on the water as much as I woulda liked, but I'll take what I can get.
  22. I appreciate all the help and advice on my thread, but this one takes it! Haha
  23. I'm new to this forum stuff and was just wondering what's the big fuss about fluoro. I prefer mono, can you change my mind? Or at least justify spending so much more on fluoro?
