  1. I appreciate y'all's responses. I figured that even cash sales are traceable somehow I just don't understand how. But now based on some of the answers here I'm actually more nervous. If they dispute the value I'm kinda screwed because the boat is worth more than double the sale price. The trailer and motor are both brand new(new Yamaha 90 horse and new 22ft tandem axle pontoon trailer), they alone are probably worth $13k. The hull alone is worth $9-10k. I was just in the right place at the right time. For those still following, this is the story of how a guy goes looking for a bass boat and ends up with a friggin pontoon boat.....FML
  2. What blank do you guys like for 1/2oz to 3/4 FB jigs with a rage craw trailer?
  3. What do you guys like for 1/2oz to 3/4 FB jigs with a rage craw trailer?
  4. Just bought a boat from a private party for $10k and paid by wire, so essentially like cash. All 3 titles are clear and boat is still registered to original owner for a few months. They did write up a BOS outlining the three titles and priced the boat at $10k, motor and trailer at $0. Now let me preface this by saying I know this is sketchy but I'm not into giving the government more than I already do so.... Since Texas allows have written or none at all bills of sale, what would preclude me from claiming the sales price was $1 to avoid almost $700 in taxes? Anyone else have experience with a private party sale in Texas?
  5. With all that being said.... Am I better off mix and matching? I kinda liked the idea of a matching set but if I'm only going to have 5 or 6 total bass rods and have no hopes of tournament fishing I don't mind different brands.
  6. Any suggestions on within the mojo line what rods I should be starting with?
  7. I'm looking to start my collection of casting rods so I'm looking to grab probably 3 rods. I currently just have a Dobyns champion XP spinning rod. I could probably use some advice on what 3 rods would be the best/most versatile. For reference I'll be fishing almost exclusively lake Fork tx(my house almost backs up to it). So I'm assuming it'll be a lot of top water, plastic worm/creatures, some spinnerbaits, frogs, and crankbaits. Not really sure if any of those can be handled by the same rods.... I'm still too new to fully get it. With the original Mojo Bass line on closeout for $120ish I'm wondering if there's a better rod around for equal or less. I've seen the Dobyns Fury line and I'm not at all impressed.
  8. Haha no LensCrafters. They were fine until VSP made new lenses using their in house lab with their in house polarized lenses which are crap.
  9. I'm sure I'll get all sorts of answers here but I'm looking for suggestions of affordable options for prescription sunglasses. My insurance benefits will only cover one pair of glasses per year so priority goes to regular glasses and I'm left paying out of pocket for sunglasses. Even if I did use insurance VSP requires you to use their labs and their lenses which is sub par to premium brands. I currently have ray ban aviators with polarized lenses but they're honestly horrible for cutting through water glare. I know there's tons of decent options for non prescription sunglasses but just wondering what y'all recommend.
  10. I said box out of general expression. I should clarify I did pick up a bag that holds 4 3600 trays I'll definitely consider a baitcaster. I've used them a few times fishing for striper up north off long Island and had terrible success lol but I might give it a try again.
  11. Super new to bass fishing. A lot is foreign trip me since I grew up fly fishing for trout. Moved to Texas and live a few miles from lake fork and after constantly hearing how great it is for bass it got me intrigued. So now I'm wondering what are some specific things to stock my boxes with? I'll have to ease into it because I only get to spend quarterly bonus money(wife has regular paychecks on lockdown). We were considering getting kayaks anyway so a good chunk is going to those. I'm sure I'll need a 7' medium rod, spinning reel, 10lb? Fc? What are some suggestions for say $100 give or take of tackle to get me started. Obviously more rods, reels and tackle will come with time but I'm so lost on where to even start....
  12. Not sure if you're still considering a move. I live dead smack between lake tawakoni and lake fork so it's about 20 minutes either way. I've lived as far west as Mesquite, lived in Forney for a while and now out here for 3 years. I would HIGHLY recommend not moving anywhere near the metroplex. I'm a truck driver so there's not an area of Texas I'm not familiar with. Until you get an hour outside the city you're gonna be limited to subdivisions with small(honestly downright tiny) plots of land and relatively high taxes. Take a look at Van Zandt or Rains county, you'll get some land and pay low taxes, get a small town feel, the crime is lower, no HOAs telling you what to do to your property.... But expect to drive a little more. If you're looking to be near lake fork, look into Edgewood, Emory, Alba, Golden. Coming from Cali you can probably get double or triple what you're moving out of for less money and some acreage.
