  1. Hmmmm No it is not EFI Sports the old Carb. Then again, so does the 9.9 I have, even tho it's a 4 stroke, they dont come EFI below 25HP. This is what the dealer is told me. So if this is an issue, I hope it doesn't mean both motors may be a problem. I have not heard any talk of Carbs being not allowed > Till now. But I will check into it! Thanx
  2. Hiyas, just joined up on the prompting of a friend > sup Chuck K I have a Triton1650SC that I bought in Feb. 2005 boat and trailer with an 2004 9.9 Mrec Four Stroke Big Foot on trim. : Guy bought it last year new then traded it this year. Kept his motor and they put on this 9.9 to sell. Price was affordable and I figured I could upgrade the engine later > I was on the water and that was the idea. So I'm putting along slowly but PUTTING ALONG So now I'm in a position to buy up. I am hearing that 2 stroke engines by far run faster then the 4 strokes. My dealer tends to agree, so I am considering a 2007 Merc 2 stroke 50 with oil injection so there would be no probs on using my built in tank and NO MIX on both motors (I'm having the 9.9 converted to an extended arm kicker for HP limit lakes and to have access to the Strip Pits at Pyramid State Park and Peabody Coal.(Must be under 10HP) Can some of you provide some feedback on this please. My boat is rated to 60HP, but I fish several lakes that have 50HP limits. The 2 stroke I am considering is like $2000+ cheaper then a 4 stroke. They also only have a yr of warranty as oppossed to 2 or 3 yrs on a 4 stroke :-[ But my dealer (Nameoki Marine) insist they are rock solid motors BTW I am in Illinois just east of the river from St Louis. Any info would help, I want to get a bigger motor on asap so I can go out safley on bigger lakes and the river as well. Thanx
  3. I know you are a happy camper! I just got my first boat in Feb this year, course we are fishing the power plant lakes (Coffeen and Baldwin) so we been at it for a bit now. I bought a 2005 Triton 1650SC, 9.9 Fourstroke Bigfoot. I LOVE IT! Takin her in Monday for a New Motor > 50HP Merc. Gonna cost a bit but I wanna be able to go farther thn I feel comfy rt now on the big lakes!!! Gonna spend a few dollars and have the 9.9 > It's a 2004 motor, very nice > gonna have it converted over for a kicker motor. Coffeen as well as many other lakes limit us to 25HP, but you can only access the Strip Pits if you are under 10hp, so I am skipping the 25 and guess I'll just be slow if I ever tourney lakes with 25hp limits > NO BIGGIE, I am throwing bait INTO the bank now!!! 8-) Good Luck with your new boat
