  1. Thanks bud. I haven't been tying hair for very long and feel like I'm just starting to get the hang of it. ? I know what you mean about the spinnerbaits pic. I don't know why it's appears all squished down and distorted like that. When I click on it, it opens in a new window and looks normal then. ?
  2. During early Spring with cold water in the local Rivers I'll be using jerkbaits, slow-rolled swimbaits, jignpigs on bottom, and ned or tube or damiki drifted close to bottom. 3. I'm new here and just put up an introduction post a couple days ago in which 'Ol Crickety asked me to post my fish here so I can get some attaboys. Unfortunately I haven't been out yet this year. It was looking good around here for a bit last week and the week before when water temps were hitting upper 40s, but I missed out. Now we're back to Winter and water temps crashed back down to mid 30s the past couple days. I am chompin at the bit to get after them when water warms back up. Best I can do for now is show a nice 21.5" I got last year right about this time.
  4. Cool, OC! I miss the north country sometimes. It's a special place and I have lots of good memories from time spent up there. You ever make down this way and want to get a float in on one of the Rivers around here, hit me up.
  5. Some stuff I been working on this winter: Mini spinnerbaits built on 3/16oz frame lpo calls "finesse c-spin" with fine cut silicon skirts tied war eagle style. These look real good in the water and can be burned without rolling over. Can't wait to try them when the water warms up. Hybrid bucktail/silicon/fine rubber finesse jigs Hair jigs tied with locally procured coyote tail
  6. I just started fooling with wakebaits during late Summer/early Fall last year on the advice of a buddy who fishes treble hook baits more than anything. I like the Yozuri 3DS Series Wakebait. Caught some fish first time testing it -- burning it through shallow rocks in pretty swift water during bright sunny day with low, clear water. It runs about a foot and half down max and works well at high speed when it has an occasional erratic, but subtle sort of kickout.
  7. I am fortunate for sure. I think you have it good up your way too from what I've heard. ? I've haven't fished that far north yet. Only as far as the Cheat once out of St. George and one of its tributaries closer to Elkins.
  8. Thank you all! ? Thanks Steveo. That made me laugh. I know how intense the Bears v Packers rivalry is.
  9. Hi everyone. I'm 55 years old and grew up in Chicagoland about 20 miles west of the city. In my youth, I spent most of my fishing time chasing largemouths on local ponds within walking and biking distance from the house. Then I caught smallmouth fever after exploring the Kankakee River via wading and canoeing. From there I got into boat fishing and focused mainly on Lake Michigan salmon, perch, walleye, and smallmouths from SW Indiana up through the western shore to the Bay de Noc area at the north end of Green Bay. I moved to east-central West Virginia going on 14 years ago where I've been fishing almost exclusively for smallmouths in area rivers like the New, Greenbrier, Elk, and Gauley. During the past few years, I've gotten a little familiar with parts of the Upper James in east Virginia, too. I wade and bank fish some, but spend more time in my kayak or raft. I joined Bass Resource to keep up with the evolution of our sport and contribute to the community wherever I might be helpful. I'm also interested in trading trips. I can offer float fishing trips for smallmouths to anyone interested in experiencing the rivers named above in return for whatever kind of bass fishing you're doing in our southeastern region. Good fishin to all !
