  1. I prefer a Mod fast action. Im actually looking fir a rod that can handle 3/8-1/2oz chatterbaits and topwater trebles in the 1/4-5/8oz range. Mainly the heavier side of this spectrum. Was thinking the P5 Super Destroyer but haven’t used one before. Would be nice to have something versatile enough to go dock fish with which is what I heard this rod is made for.
  2. I had a DS then sold it and bought the Daemos. DS feels more like the overall standard MH in the lineup. Daemos bends a little bit more
  3. Now that you mention NRX+, it’s got me thinking, could I use the 873C CRR for the applications I listed above? I use it primarily as a dragging rod but never explored its full potential. I know it’s super versatile as well. A little softer than the Daemos, but do you know how it stacks up against the MBV?
  4. How would you compare the Daemos to MBV? I like how I can snap baits out of grass easier with the Daemos with chatterbaits. Definitely dont like glass rods. Is the MVB super parabolic compared to the Daemos? I’d be okay with a little more bend than the Daemos but not a lot. I would run braid with the MVB if that helps too
  5. I’d run 3/8-1/2 oz more but the 1/4oz baits would just be something I’d throw in a pinch type of deal.
  6. Anyone know how the P5 Daemos compares to the Steez AGS Moving Bait Versatile? I have the P5 Daemos and like it so far for ripping chatterbaits through grass edges but wondering if the MBV is similar but more versatile as the name suggests compared to the Daemos? I do like how the Daemos allows me to snap baits out of grass easily. Looking for something to throw the following: Primary: 1/4-1/2oz bladed jig, Spinnerbait, Swimjigs Secondary: 1/4-3/4oz Popper, Spook, Shallow/Mid diving Crankbaits If there’s another rod that sticks out let me know. Thanks!
  7. What’s the best 1/4-3/4oz topwater treble rod in the NRX+, Steez AGS, and P5 lines? Mainly throwing Pop Xs and Showerblows 105s Reason I’m asking is because I’m thinking of selling my OneTen Stick. I throw topwater a whole lot more than jerkbaits and I have a P5 Windbuster which I’m totally pumped to use for jerkbaits.
  8. Love my Daemos. Great single hook moving bait. Mainly a bladed jig rod for me ripping 3/8-1/2oz baits through milfoil
  9. The P5’s are gorgeous but I’ve been slowly shifting away from them. Just broke an Addermine which I absolutely loved. As I was retying an FG knot I put slight pressure on the line to keep it tight and the rod snapped near the tip. Couldn’t explain how that even happened since I baby all my rods and have had fish pull a LOT harder on the rod. I’ve heard numerous stories of people having other P5s blow up on them or snap over nothing as well. Thankfully it’s covered in the Megabass warranty but I’d be out almost $500 if it happened any later. Not saying that every P5 blank is eventually going to break this way but I wish Megabass had a better warranty. There’s a reason you pay more for NRX+. The warranty is worth every penny. Plus, the NRX+ rods are built like tanks. Put my 852 through the trenches and it still looks brand new. Just have to clean/seal the cork every offseason or so just as I do with all my other rods.
  10. Hey other reviews on the Steez AGS Finesse Game Special spinning rod? Just picked one up for texas-rigged dropshots primarily, but for nose hook and other finesse techniques as well. Was looking for a rod that could replace my P5 Addermine and fit between my NRX+ 842S SJR and 852S JWR. Mostly throw 1/4-3/8oz weights on a dropshot using 10lb suffix 832 braid to 7lb sniper fc. Thinking of pairing it with a 2023 Vanquish 3000. Have an Exist but saving that for my 842 since thats also my minnow rod.
  11. Ended up finding a good deal on a steez AGS 7’1 ML. Excited to try it out this season
  12. I’m only getting rid of the 7’2 ML Expride so that I can upgrade to something in the P5, NRX+, or Steez AGS lines. Otherwise I’m rocking with it till I find a replacement. I’m still narrowing it down to these three: - P5 Addermine - Steez AGS Finesse Game Special - NRX+ 822S DSR Some people have told me the 822 is a little softer than the 7’2 ML Expride but ‘m looking something equivalent in action to the Expride. Anyone know how the Addermine and Finesse Game Special compare? I have no idea how the Steez rod compares since Ive never fished with it. I would be 110% okay with another Addermine. I’m just hesitant on the P5s now after breaking one and hearing a lot of others break theirs too. Havent heard the same about the Steez AGS or NRX+ lines as often.
  13. I bought it used so not really much I can do anymore. Don’t want to get it rebuilt wither because it wont have the same action as before. I’m going to use my expride in the meanwhile like you said, until I get a replacement Addermine or another rod
  14. Looking for something similar to an Expride B 7’2 ML. More of a ML+ style but super sensitive. NRX+ 852S is too stiff. P5 Addermine was nice but not the best casting distance-wise. Something 7’0+ would be nice but not longer than 7’4. I heard great things about the Steez AGS 7’1 ML Finesse Game Special. Don’t see any used ones for sale at the moment. Open to other suggestions
  15. I have the 852 and I agree it’s too powerful for lighter line applications IMO. i’ve fet the 872 and I think its just a smidge too powerful for what I’m looking for. Looking for a ML+ essentially
  16. What’s an equivalent of the 7’2 ML B Spinning Expride in the NRX+, P5, and Daiwa Steez AGS lines? I love the 7’2 ML I own it and have it listed for sale but might need it until I find a replacement.
  17. I’m going to use it as my popx rod. I throw showerblows 105s and popmaxs a lot as well. Hoping they arent out of the weight range for the 110 stick. Used to throw that on a 6’10 M Expride B comfortably but I know the 110 stick is slightly more parabolic through the midsection than the Expride. Casting distance also is a little more limited due to the length.
  18. 3/16-3/8oz. Open water and through some grass
  19. Looking to replace a P5 Addermine that just snapped on me. Probably going to go with something in the used market to save a couple extra bucks. Here are some options I’m looking into: - Just get the same P5 Addermine again - NRX+ 822S DSR - NRX+ 822S SYR (have no idea how to this compares to the DSR as I haven’t used either) - Daiwa Steez AGS 7’1 ML Finesse Game Special Heard the X10 Jade Python is great too. I’m open to any other suggestions in the high-end price range. If anyone’s had experience with the P5 Addermine and can compare other rods that would be a plus!!
  20. I just bought the windbuster after a lot of contemplation. Glad I did. It’s a unique rod for sure. Not your typical 7’2 M spinning rod. Bought it mainly for free rigging and bottom contact but excited to throw some hardbaits on it. Would love to throw topwater on it but using braid to fc leader wont be ideal and that’s what living on the reel. I did notice that you don’t want to pair it with a super light reel. Makes the rod feel tip-heavy. To balance it out better I paired it with a 3000 sized Twin Power FE and it’s perfectly balanced right where you lay your index finger ok the blank. I did take it out for the first time and tossed a free rig around. 1/4 oz weight with a 4” dolive beaver. Casting with it felt a little awkward to me. I’ve gotten used to casting with my P5 Addermine so I’m okay with the shorter butt section (that’s my only negative about the P5s). When I was casting the windbuster I kept the shorter butt section into account but man that 1/4oz weight with a 4” do live beaver felt super heavy. Not sure if this is just a normal feeling that’s new for me and I gotta get used to. I know people even throw 3/8oz sinkers on it but I cant imagine how much bulkier that would feel casting. I think I also need to step down my leader lb test. Was running it on 15lb braid to 14lb fc sniper (only leader line I had on me at the time). I think stepping down to 10 or 12 lb fc sniper could help. Castinf didnt feel smooth at all and I was surprised how difficult it was to get decent distance with such a heavy feeing rig at the end. Any tips? I’m still happy that I picked up the Windbuster. I think it’s a rod that I need to learn and Im actually excited about that
  21. This is definitely a great point. I will say I just picked up a windbuster and it’s supposed to be THE free rig rod which is basically similar terminal to a texas rig. Heard the sweet spot for that rod is 1/4-3/8oz. Will be running braid to leader and see how that works out
  22. 873 is my dragging rod that can do lighter pitching BC2 is my pitching rod that can do dragging. I’m smitten over the 873. With a Bantam MGL it’s a dream. The BC2 definitely feels thicker in my hand but it’s also a little longer. I have it paired with a 21 zillion and it balances well. You’re kinda splitting hairs comparing sensitivity between the two. I use both rods for different applications. I’ll tel you that the 873 is more sensitive only because I drag with it more so it’s in constant bottom contact. Dragging will transmit sensitivity more obviously. I will say that I can feel the slightest ticks through milfoil with the BC2 when I’m pitching. Between the two rods, I’d first figure out what you want to use it for. I think the 873 is more versatile. BC2 has a little more power
  23. I’m sure most people will agree that casting is a lot more accurate when it comes to bottom contact baits such as a texas rig or a jig but I want to hear from others about using a spinning rod for bottom contact. I know that there’s nuisances to “bottom contact” but let’s stick with 1/4-3/8oz jig texas rig with a 3/0 EWG hook and finesse jigs just for this conversation. I’m debating between a P5 X Bites or just keeping my NRX+ 803S JWR. Here’s some scenarios: - shorter pitches to the bank/targets - skipping docks - dragging/hopping Main scenario I see a spinning rod excelling between the X Bites and 803S is skipping docks. Don’t have to worry about backlashing. Also I feel a little more connected with my baits on spinning but that might be a personal preference. What do you guys think?
  24. Hey which two rods are you talking about? I listed a handful in this
  25. How do you feel about wacky rigs with the 803S in docks? What else would you use it for? I know we spoke about this in another post but your comment reminded me about it. I have an 852, 842, and P5 Addermine trying to figure out if it’s worth it to keep the 803S in my lineup or not.
