  1. I just saw that too. Need to jump on the teckel train. Their topwaters are pricey but look 👌🏼in the water. I’m sure their rods will be meticulously designed for topwaters too.
  2. Wouldn’t ever use fluoro for a frog. Only straight braid. I meant to say fluoro for the buzzbait since I’m already running 20lb for my chatterbaits on the Daemos. Appreciate the advice!
  3. That’s my issue with the kaera frog too. I use the 7’3 XH Expride B to launch heavier frogs into the back of pad and slop fields. Most bites come from the end-middle of the retrieve from what I’ve noticed. I think the Daemos will have to be the one for my buzzbaits. Usually buzzbaits through tighter spaces with sparser grass. Thinking 20lb sniper fluoro since buzzbaits are constantly moving anyways. That’s what I’m running with my chatterbaits too esp since we have a lot of pesky zebra mussels up here that fray up the line. Would consider 40lb braid to a 16lb fluoro leader if I absolutely wanted the braid setup instead.
  4. Was thinking shorter accurate pitches in between docks, reeds, and sparse grass mainly. Would probably end up using the 7’3 XH Expride B I already have for the super thick stuff. Was thinking more about the smaller frogs and 3/8-1/2oz buzzbaits. I currently have a P5 Daemos as well. I know that’s longer than 7’0 but does anyone have any input on how that would be for this application?
  5. Any suggestions on a boujie frog/buzzbait rod under 7’0? Currently have the Expride B 7’3 XH but just curious to see if there’s something shorter for throwing frogs and buzzbaits. Was thinking P5 Super Destroyer but haven’t fished with that rod yet.
  6. No when you buy JDM or used the warranty is out of the picture. Not like it’s that great of a warranty anyways lol.
  7. The P5 Dark Sleeper is sick. Obviously other than the sleeper baits, I’m using it for spinnerbaits and swimjigs but it can do SO much more than that. Probably the most versatile rod in the casting lineup. If you wanted one rod to be able to do most things in that 1/4-1/2oz range in the P5 lineup it’s hard to beat.
  8. I’ve learned more about acquiring these JDM pieces than I’d like to admit at this point lol. Ended up going with the Daemos. In the hand it has the exact bend profile I was looking for but what really intrigues me is the action in the midsection. Can’t wait to see how it performs with a fish on the other end of it. The rod is whispering hookup to land ratio in my ear when I bend it towards the middle. It’s got that unique P5 bend to it which I love. I’m starting to think I made the right choice on this one. Time will tell… Umair
  9. Thinking of running this on a 6’10 M Expride B for my jerkbait setup with 10lb sniper fc. How do you guys think it feels compared to the previous gen metanium 100 dc? Always felt like it was a heavy reel. Thanks, Umair
  10. I had mine paired with a 21 zillion and felt super compact in my hands. A 70 sized reel would go great on it too. It’s mainly a finesse bottom contact rod so you don’t need a tank of a reel on it.
  11. Yeah idk I think I’ll keep the xbites as my shallow cover lighter t rig and free rig rod. Still trying to find other uses for it. Seems like a limited use rod which is surprising from the P5 line. I found a really good deal on a Daemos and snagged it. Looking forward to putting it to good use and haul some chatterbait fish in!
  12. Hey read through this thread and it’s got some great points. I’m also looking for a versatile chatterbait rod that I can rip 3/8 and 1/2 chatterbaits through grass. My initial impression in the P5 line is the Madbull, Daemos, or Javelin. Any input on those? Coming from throwing chatterbaits on a Dobyns Champ XP 734C but I get super fatigued using that rod after an hour or two. Looking to the P5 lineup since I know how light and versatile those rods are. For context, I currently have the Dark Sleeper and XBites. Still trying to find a reason to keep my XBites since I have a steez ags bc2 for jigs/texas rigs. Everyone I ask basically says that all these 5 power P5 rods can do chatterbaits but Im looking for something with 70% backbone, and 30% bend in the tip so that I have enough backbone to rip baits out of tops of submerged grass, and also not pull out the bait from a fish’s mouth so it gives it a chance to suck it in with the negative pressure on hooksets. Any input would be great! Thanks, Umair
  13. Between the P5 dark sleeper, daemos, and javelin, which would be best for ripping 3/8-1/2oz chatterbaits through submerged grass? A lot of people have directed me to glass rods but I strongly dislike that heavy feeling glass rods have. Something that bends maybe 25-30% of the rod and then goes into a somewhat giving midsection and then a quick transition to straight backbone all the way down maybe 50% of the rod. Currently have the Xbites and Dark Sleeper seeing if there’s a better rod for chatterbaits in the P5 lineup. For launching across grass flats and slipping through tight lanes. Have a similar post going on but thought I could get some additional input here since the OP seems to have listed a couple techniques I’m looking to throw in a rod as well.
  14. Update: Ended up grabbing a Daiwa Steez AGS Bottom Contact 2 and the NRX+ 873CRR. Got to take the 873 out once and caught some fish on it. Man it’s a dream to fish. Really looking forward to the BC2 next season to throw jigs and texas rigs in submerged grass. Going to trade my xbites for the daemos. Chatterbaits is a confidence bait of mine and it inly makes sense for me to have a rod that’s more geared for that technique. Plus it covers a lot of other moving baits. Picked up the dark sleeper too since that’s another versatile rod for a lot of baits I like to throw. Going to still sell the champ xp 734. Don’t think I’ll be buying another Dobyns rod although I will say their customer service has always been a pleasure to work with.
  15. Yeah that’s exactly how I feel about the dark sleeper. I got to fish it a couple times now and it feels like it could do pretty much everything the xbites can do. Xbites just seems a tad more stiff. Xbites is advertised as THE 1/4-3/8 jig and light texas rig rod but I prefer the BC2 for my jigs/ texas rigs in grass and 873CRR for dragging anything and both of those could double for each other. Im fine with those 2 having similar uses because I like throwing those techniques a lot more. I do like how accurate the xbites is for a 7’2. Not sure if it’s worth it to keep in my lineup since I like the Dark Sleeper better. Tough decision for me haha. On the 6’10 expride, I was throwing showerblows 105s out on the ozarks this fall for spotted bass and it handled them great. Was worried about the showerblows being too heavy but I was slinging it out there on that rod with straight 30lb braid no issues. Havent tried single hook baits on it as much although, it’s a very accurate rod. It’s been primarily my treble hook topwater rod. Jerkbaits is a technique I want to focus on next season so don’t have a lot of experience with it but I have caught some on jerkbaits with the Expride. Why do you think I should keep the expride 6’10 and have the one ten stick alongside? The Champ XP 734 was my dedicated Chatterbait rod. I just didnt like how it felt in my hands after ripping 3/8 and 1/2 oz chatterbaits through grass all day. I had it paired with the metanium dc 100 which is “heavier” than some of my other reels so could it be that? Not sure between the dark sleeper and 873 CRR if I can use either of those as my chatterbait rod. I heard the dark sleeper is a great single hook moving bait rod but specifically for swimjigs and spinner baits. Not sure if it’s got the right load in it to absorb the negative pressure a bass had when sucking in a chatterbait. That 873CRR has a little bend through the top (mainly for dragging) but @TNBankFishing and @TheBaitMonkey I know you guys helped me pick the 873 CRR in another post so maybe you guys could weigh in here? Don’t want to let go of any “gem” rods either but can’t find a spot for the xbites yet. Thanks, Umair
  16. What do you guys use your X-Bites for? I’m having a hard time justifying keeping it in my lineup which is why I put it up for sale. Here’s my current casting lineup: - Dobyn’s Fury 705 CB (I throw cranks and lipless maybe 5-7% of the year lol) - Expride B 6’10 M - P5 Dark Sleeper - Dobyn’s Champ XP 734 (trying to sell this too) - NRX+ 873C CRR - Daiwa Steez AGS Bottom Contact 2 - Expride B 7’3 XH You guys see any gaps here that the X-Bites (or another rod) could fill? Also how do you guys feel about the dark sleeper or 873 CRR for throwing chatterbaits through grass? You guys think it’s worth trading the X Bites for a P5 One Ten Stick and selling the Expride 6’10M? Would use it for topwater and jerkbaits.
  17. Would you recommend the curado 200M for glidebaits/swimbaits? Anyone have experience with it? Was looking at the tranx but it think the new curado has the mgl3 spool which Ive been a fan of. Reason Im asking is because Im thinking to sell my 2023 lexa 300. Wayyy too big for my hands. Makes me not want to throw big baits tbh. If anyone’s interested in the reel btw reach out to me.
  18. If I wanted to have a spinning setup to throw BFS lures instead of a baitcasting setup, would the NRX+ 902S SJR work? Anyone have experience with that rod? Was thinking 10lb braid to 7lb leader. What weights/lures would be best? Thanks, Umair
  19. Say the bait monkey made me grab the NRX+ 873C CRR AND the Steez BC2… since I already have both, how should I designate techniques to each? Like on a day I brought both with me. One paired with a zillion and the other a bantam. Also need some line recs. Thanks! Umair
  20. Hey guys! Just posted review of the 2022 Daiwa Exist LT. Was going to write out my review on here but figured it deserved its own video on my YouTube channel. (Jadoobassin) Hope you guys enjoy it. Would love to hear your thoughts about the reel too! Thanks for the support! - Umair
  21. @speakingofjared any update on how the rods perform? Any new additions since then?
  22. Update: unfortunately I didn’t get to use this setup as much this season as I wanted to. I fish as a co-angler and got super busy with my tournament schedule. A big bait rod is not the most ideal to bring on the back of someone’s boat! 😂 I did spend some time chucking baits from shore throughout the year. I do regret getting a 300 sized reel. I feel like it’s majority of the reason I don’t enjoy casting this setup. Something like a Tranx 200 would feel way better. Don’t have the largest hands in the world so palming that 300 sized reel feels cumbersome to me. Will see if I can trade someone the 2023 Lexa 300 with a Tranx A 200. As far as the rod goes, Dobyn’s rating system just always seemed out of whack to me. I know there’s a huge following for it, but I’ve owned a few of them and started to shift over to other brands. Before I get any hate, I used the heck out of my Champ XP 734C and loved it for chatterbaits. Their customer support is great and really back their product and provide helpful advice. That being said, considering Dobyn’s power rating are a little ambitious to me, I think the 794.5 was the right choice for the treble hook baits I’m throwing. It has a good amount of give in the tip and a solid backbone. I still have to catch a fish on it but have casted it a good amount to say this. Hopeful to see how to rod performs with a fish on next season and I can provide a complete update after that. Definitely need to lock this one rod in my hand all day next year (and get a fish on the other end of it somehow lol). I see so many people catching largemouth on these big baits from shore. Always fascinated me but I have no idea how to differentiate my approach from throwing the usual baits in the arsenal. I know how to work my glides and swimbaits, just don’t know where to target fish especially from shore yet. Any help would be appreciated! Umair
  23. Anyone know where I can find a 2021 Daiwa Steez AGS “The One” used?
  24. Took it out on its first bank mission today and it did not disappoint! Threw a 7/16 oz football jig and man is it sensitive. Not that I expected anything less but I was counting every rock and twig it touched. As far as the action while under load, it’s interesting how this rod bends under load at the first 30ish% of the rod. Didn’t catch any giants on it, but hooksets (with dragging techniques) are a little different with this type of action. The rod kind of absorbs the initial bite and screams at you to set the hook, all while keeping the fish pinned in the process. I’m definitely curious to see how it performs with flipping grass jigs and moving baits like chatterbaits due to the action. Will need some more time with it to speak to it more next season. Going to 100% post a review video on my channel (YT: JadooBassin) next season. Thanks, Umair
