Daiwa baitcasting reel advice needed
Thanks, wasn’t sure. I pulled the trigger and they matched the price of $118.17 delivered. I’ve never purchased anything from Tackle Direct but they were great!

Daiwa baitcasting reel advice needed
Ok, I am planning on buying another Tatula 100 for another Team Daiwa (TD-S) rod that's been sitting inactive for years. I have found a local retailer that will match the Amazon Japan price. Will this reel be exactly the same as the one I rec'd from Japan? Are there slight differences? It is advertised as the 2023 model 100H and the one I purchase from Japan is advertised as the 2024 model.

Ok, so shallower spool and shorter casting distance than the Tatula 100……

Daiwa baitcasting reel advice needed
I'm just getting my feet wet w/ the Daiwa line of baitcasting reels as I been using Shimano reels for many years. So, I have been told the TW stand for T-Wing but I have no idea what SV means. I'm guessing something w/ the spool?

Cracked open the Tatula and I was surprised on how dry it was from the factory. I added some Shimano ACE drag grease to the drag washers and main/pinion gears. Also a drop of thin oil on the bearings. No doubt the drag is smoother and now has virtually no startup inertia. A little goes a long way.

Ok, thanks…… I wonder if it’s really that big of an upgrade over the standard drive. From what I read, it’s a dual bearing supported pinion gear? As apposed to a single bearing in the non-Hyperdrive?

Any idea if Daiwa will be adding the Hyperdrive feature on future 150 size Tatula reels? I’m in no hurry to buy and just might wait and see if this happens.

Lol, I guess I’m confused as I’m not very knowledgeable w/ Daiwa casting reels….. Excuse my ignorance. Does Daiwa offer a 2024 Tatula 150 with the Hyperdrive? I was told this is a new edition to the 2024 100 series. Does it make much of a difference?

Wonder if Daiwa will offer a Tatula 150 TW in the future?

Daiwa baitcasting reel advice needed
Seems like a solid little reel and it will pair up nicely with an old Team Daiwa (Gen1) Larry Nixon 6’0” Wormin/Jiggin rod. On to the next…… I have an old Team Daiwa LT 6’6” rod that I’d like to pop on another Daiwa reel. Do they make a Tatula (or whatever model) that is slightly larger than the 100 TW? Larger meaning something that’s the size of the Shimano 200 series?

Ordered on 5/10 and received on 5/18……. Let’s call it 1 week ordered from Amazon. The domestic stage of delivery had no tracking associated with it, only out for delivery and delivered notifications.

New technology reels vs older
I started using baitcasters back in the late 80's and still own a couple Chronarch's (100A, 100SF), Curado 200E7 and 200B (Green) that have been outstanding reels and still perform great. Just the other day I ordered a Tatula 100 TW from Amazon/Japan and have high hopes for it even though it's a sub $125 reel. I'm not sure it be built as well as the old Shimano made in Japan reels. Hopefully I'm pleasantly surprised.

Tracking says; “local carrier has accepted package for final delivery. (Carson, US)” I assume it’s in FedEx’s hands in Carson CA? If so, will I get a FedEx tracking number through Amazon?

Braid on baitcaster?
I read about 4 strand and 8 strand along with hollow core vs round braid…….. There are so many choices!! Is there much difference between the lesser expensive offerings on Amazon vs name brand premium priced braid?

Braid on baitcaster?
I have been running mono on all of my casting reels as I tried braid back in the mid-90’s and didn’t care for it. Fast forward, I have a new reel coming my way from Japan and was wondering if I should give braid another try? I’m certain the technology of braided lines have made leaps and bounds since the last time I tried it. Currently, I run 20lb Diamond braid on all my saltwater spinning reels but not sure how the new braid performs on casting reels.

Sensitivity
Or was it the IMX????
-
Sensitivity
Lots of factors when it comes to sensitive. Within the blank, a graphite scrim will create a more sensitive blank than that of a fiberglass scrim. Sorry, scrim is the material that is applied to bottom side (mandrel side) of the graphite sheet. The scrim holds together the graphite fibers so they do not separate when rolled under pressure. Gary Loomis was the first to introduce graphite scrim in the GLX series of rods.

Shimano spinning reel folks -help selecting new reel model
I'll toss a vote for the Stradic. I have a few of the 3000FL and a 3000FK that I use for saltwater (Snook, Redfish) and they have worked flawlessly as all the previous Stradic versions I have owned. Not sure about the reels you mentioned but I really appreciate the line lay that the worm gear oscillation offers in the Stradic.

Ok, I pulled the trigger and ordered the Tatula 100H TW (RH) from Amazon for a total of $118.17 (free delivery). They are saying it is to be delivered on 5/24.......... I guess free shipping = slow shipping....

Peacedivision, perfect! I think I'll be going w/ the 100 as the 80 just might be too small. I really appreciate everybody's help!

How would the size compare to the Curado 200HGK? Looking for something this size or maybe a tad smaller. I'm 6'3" (large hands) so maybe the 80 might be a bit too small. I'll be putting it on an old Team Daiwa pistol grip rod for Pop-R/Topwater fishing..... I'm going to go with the Tatula but trying to determine what size to get. Sorry w/ all the questions!

What about the Tatula 80? Is it much smaller (size) than the 100?

Daiwa baitcasting reel advice needed
By no means did I imply that Shimano makes the best baitcasting reels........ I own plenty of Daiwa spinning reels along with Shimano spinning reels and they both make a quality product. That being said, I have an old Chronarch 100A, Chronarch 100SF and a Curado 200E7 that I wouldn't trade for anything new on the market. These have served me well for many years and are still silky smooth and cast great. My son's HGK is a nice reel but built nothing like the ones I just mentioned.

Never ordered from Amazon/Japan. Are there any additional costs? How much is shipping to the US? Any chance of sending a direct link?
