  1. I also run mono (12 & 14) on my casting reels but have 1 reel with Daiwa J-Braid 50# for the heavy stuff. I prefer mono over braid but I’m old school….. However, I run 20# braid on my fleet of Stradic saltwater reels.
  2. Well, I was at Wally World and couldn’t resist grabbing another EVO (and my last). I’ve bought the following: 6’6” Med—Chronarch 200E6 6’8” M/H—Chronarch 200E7 7’0” M/H—Citica 200E 7’3” H—-Curado 200E7
  3. Scan the UPC label with your phone through the Walmart app. Two of mine had no indication of the discounted price on the hang tag but reflected the $32 when scanned…..
  4. I picked up a 7’3” Heavy today to go with my 6’6” and 6’8” EVO. Can’t be beat for $32/ea.
  5. I run a Shimano Sahara 500FJ on my old Loomis S661-IM6 UL .......
  6. I believe that incorrect information is often spread to steer potential buyers away from large chain stores such as Walmart because the smaller retailers just can't compete w/ pricing. That being said, I would rather give my business and pay a slight premium to a mom/pop shop as long as I am getting the service.
  7. No on-water experience as of yet but they look to be built very well. I've been building spinning, casting and fly rods for the past 30 years and the thread work, guide placement/alignment, finish and cork seem to be decent quality w/ some filler. Also, they use the Fuji #ECSM reel seats (casting) which is a nice, blank exposed reel seat.
  8. Would like to find a 7'0" EVO spinning rod but both of my local Walmart stores are out of stock on this model.....
  9. Agreed, the TD-S 6’3” is a very nice rod with the perfect length handle. Many top water rods have too long of a handle. Sounds like you’re a hardcore Pop-R guy with a handle like Zell-Pop1. Many people here are too young to know who Zell Rowland is……. The master of the Rebel Pop-R!! Was at my local Wally and picked up a 6’8” Falcon EVO. It’ll compliment my old Team Daiwa LT 6’6” Wormin’/Jiggin’ rod.
  10. The (2) '24 Tatula reels I purchased were pretty dry from the factory. One was a domestic and the other was a JDM.
  11. I picked up a Falcon EVO VFC-4-166 (6'6") Med action for $32 this past weekend at Walmart. Looks to make a nice popper/jerkbait rod. I'm still using an old Team Daiwa-S 6'3" for my topwater and this seems to have more of a parabolic flex to it.......
  12. I own both Shimano and Daiwa reels. However, I prefer Shimano baitcasting reels to Daiwa and split between Shimano and Daiwa when it comes to spinning reels.
  13. I was thinking it stood for Old Geiser or Oldie but Goodie......
  14. Can I ask a question without getting ridiculed? What does OG stand for? If it has to do with older reels then I qualify: (2) Chronarch 100 (pearl white) (2) Chronarch 200E (1-E7, 1-E6) (1) Curado 200E7 (1) Citica 200E (1) Curado 100B (1) Calcutta 150 (1) Calcutta 50
  15. Still one of the most ergonomic reels ever made. I have a Curado & Chronarch 200E7 along w/ a Citica 200E..........
  16. That’s a nice looking setup!
  17. Yes, I’ve used these on multiple occasions. I coat mine with Shimano drag grease or Cal’s grease which definitely helps with startup inertia. Prices, including shipping, are much better going directly through Smooth Drag.
  18. Absolutely this website is not responsible for the actions of certain people..... I guess I'm a fairly trustworthy person and with that comes a risk. It's all resolved and I'm just out the cost of shipping back to seller. That's why I always do my transactions through Paypal as you have protection if the money is not sent via "Friends & Family".
  19. PayPal claim went through, sending them back to seller but I have to eat shipping back because the seller felt it was my mistake……. Lesson learned, be extra cautious buying from the classified section on this site.
  20. I just rec’d an email from Gomexus and they do not sell the inner core and have not heard back from the seller. So I’m going to open a PayPal claim……..
  21. That’s what I’m trying to determine, is it broken or is there a piece I can purchase to make them work. Unfortunately, the person I bought them from on this site is being non-responsive for refund. I suppose if I can determine they are indeed defective, I can then open a claim on PayPal….
  22. I tried reaching out to Gomexus on Monday and no reply. Maybe I’ll hear from them next week??? Anyway, here are some pics with the factory knob removed from one of my Stradic FL handles. It looks like the end cap has male threads that probably screws into the inner core that I’m missing. So, plain shims won’t work as I need the female threaded end for the end cap to install.
  23. No, it looks as if I just rec’d the outer part of the knob. There is a large difference between the OD of the handle shaft and the ID of the rubber knob. What I rec’d can be collapsed by squeezing as there is no inner core.
  24. Ok, I bought some second hand knobs from the classified section off this site thinking they would be a direct fit on my Stradic FL reels. I rec’d the knobs and it turns out they do not have the inner core needed for mounting. I tried reaching out to the buyer on three occasions with no reply😡 Anyway, is anybody familiar with the Gomexus 20mm knobs and the proper core needed for installation? ANY help would be greatly appreciated!!
  25. I bought a couple of the Tat's earlier this year and they are a good solid reel, probably worth the $120/ea I paid for them. Also got (2) really nice Simms/Daiwa LS hooded fishing shirts free during the promotion. Not sure if the promo is still going on.....
