  1. A buddy and I will be hitting up CDA at the end of August for 4 days and staying in the Cave Bay area on the westside of the lake. This will be my fist time back here since I was a kid during a family camping trip, but neither of us have fished this lake. I've spent quite a bit of time mapping the lake based off of depth charts and Google Maps and from what I can tell, the shorelines have relatively quick dropoffs with not too many flats (Other than coves or river/creek inlets/outlets). I will be arriving a day before my fishing companion and I intend to do some charting and marking spots to hit up the following 3-1/2 days. Our main target is Largemouth and from what I can tell, the southern portion of the lake, with river/creek inlets/outlets looks to be the best areas to check out. Coming into the trip, I will be looking at throwing Shakey Head, Ned Rig, Swim Jigs and Squarebills to accomodate the usual Worms, Jigs, Spinnerbaits, etc. Not necessarily looking for exact fishing spots, but any suggested locations on the lake that I should focus on and spend a little more time dissecting? Appreciate the feedback in advance! If anybody is interested, I've been putting together a Google Map with waypoints, etc. (Still in progress) https://drive.google.com/open?id=1-_5G7d7m--eGB0vI5L-j9yGXs9lMyko1&usp=sharing
  2. Some really great input, thanks everyone! In direct reply to the posts about having an app that is "quick" to log a fish, this is currently how my app works: You can save all of your gear into the app and setup "gear setups/combos" for all of your different setups to be re-used when adding a fish. - When you go in to add a fish(1 click to get to the Add a Fish form), the only thing required is a Fish Species, which in a future update you will be able to set your "Default" species. - You can also manually mark your GPS spot at a later point by using the Map and pinpointing the exact location - Also, you can set a gear setup/combo as your default setup so that when you go into add a fish, it will automatically select the gear used and add it to the fish. - If you let your GPS get a lock on your position when adding a fish, it will automatically download the weather for the current location and save it with that fish There's lots of other little features with this part of the app, but is something like this fast/easy enough that it would make you want to use it? Also, Nate, as you had mentioned about a "Cloud" based system, as soon as I get the next version of the app out, I'll be finishing up the website which will allow you to add gear, fish, locations, etc. from your browser and allow you to either import them or have them sync to the app automatically. The details haven't been fully worked out though, but it is something that will happen. @endless - the app will currently allow you to view the weather forecast for any location in the U.S., but I agree that I will need to add in the ability to check a "fishing forecast". Now I just gotta find the time to add all the features that I can think of
  3. Hello All, I've built a fishing app to track/record info about a fish when it's caught, along with a lot more, that I've released to the Android Market. I won't post the name of the app as I'm not sure if it's permitted by the board rules/regulations to promote it, unless a moderator were to chime in and say it was ok. What I wanted to do is to get input from fellow anglers on what you would love to see in a fishing app for your phone. I'm working on the 2nd version of the app right now and thinking of new features to build in to it. What would your fishing app wish list be?
  4. Thanks guys It was definately quite the thrill. I love the color of the smallies as well. I've seen some really light colored ones up here and on the flipside, one that pretty much looked black. This one sure had quite a few colors to it and definately a great looking fish. Fishing the Missouri, that sure sounds fun. Pretty much just the Columbia River up here. I would love to fish it, would just need a more stable boat before I get that chance though.
  5. This guy...I mean gal was caught at Lk. Stevens. I was using a #10 Silver/Black Rapala Jerkbait working it past the docks. Stevens, from what I've heard can produce some very nice smallies. 5 of my 6 smallies this year have come from there, and the other was from Goodwin.
  6. Thanks RW, it was a very exhilarating experience. I can't say with certainty, but I would say that the fish was 22"-23" long and it was very wide. Wider than smallmouths that I've seen here in WA get. Personally I would say it was no less than 5-1/2 lbs, but this is of course just my internal scale talking. I'm a big guy and probably weigh 250 as to give a little more perspective to my size compared to the fish. It was extremely tough to "lip" the fish as it weighed significantly more than my normal 2-3lber's All in all, it was a great experience whether it weighed 4lbs, 5lbs, or 6lbs, cause it did make my day, and I can now say that I've caught the larger smallmouth than my friend who lives to "rub it in"
  7. Well I recently caught my new personal best smallie and thought I would share it. I don't have an exact weight, though I'll sure say that it felt like some 6lb. largies that I've caught Guess it's time to replace my broken scale. Not sure that I'll be able to beat this one as I haven't seen too many smallmouth in WA bigger than this. That's not to say that I won't try
  8. Ditto on this. Before I got over the frustration of using the baitcaster this year, I was pitchin with my spinning reels as well. I'll pretty much use any rod that is within closest reach
  9. I just picked up a Shimano CU201DHSV to go with my Loomis BCFR893. I have yet to use it, though will post my thoughts on it once I do.
