1. 1/3 oz is pretty close to 3/8 oz and I treat my frittside 5s as "3/8 oz" baits. Great baits. Last fish of the season, a nice walleye, slammed it when I was burning and pausing it in frigid water along a wind swept shore. I was using a MH rod rated 3/8 to 1 oz and a Ryoga 1016 with 14# sniper. Admittedly that was at the very low end of what the rod could cast ans u was making do with what I had but that little flatside casts great imo.
2. I throw a frittside 5 on a MH rod rated down to 3/8 oz. It's not a light bait. It's a "3/8 oz" class bait to me and TW states irs 3/7 oz.
3. I'd take the Tatula 80 for cranks. I prefer the braking profile of Magforce Z for that kind of work. The Alphas is great for jigs and plastics though.
4. I like the way the Elite casts but its a bit pricey at $170 when I can get Zillions for under $250. It they had the hyper gears I'd be all over the Elite. The spool in that one is special. It has normal tatula braking profile but is super light like the SV spools so it is an effortless caster and easy to control for skipping and pitching but still out cast non SV Boost spools.
5. The only reel I trust in that price range is a 9.5 oz 300 size reel. The $48 Jhoncoo Ares. Its a aluminum frame and handle side plate reel with a double supported pinion. I haven't found the 100 size reel counter part to the Ares yet. The closest is the Histar Black Mamba with similar construction to the Ares in a 100 size but they are $66 to $73. Too much IMO but I do own one at $66. Anyways if you do get the Ares then you want a a H to XH rod to pair with it. My recommendation would be the Lews Laser SG1 74H. It's a 3/4 to 3 oz in what it can realistically throw. This will not be an all around MH but it will handle the heavier end of the spectrum of a MH such as 3/8 oz chatterbaits as well as some exposure to baits in the 1oz+ range if you want.
6. That's how you learn and it'll save you in serving costs down the line if you service your reel yourself as opposed to sending them off or treating them as disposable.
7. Return the 150. My 200 only made that exact issue when the spool bearing on the handle side after years of hard use. Casting distance wad also completely gone too.
8. Tatula 80 if the capacity isn't an issue for you. For a long handle just get one of the many cheap carbon fiber handles.
9. I think this is it. I've ordered one to put on a JDM Zillion with the tiny knobs. I'll let you know how it compared to the Daiwa HD handle.
10. Both Tatula 100 and Curado 200k have the same spool diameters and arbor diameters with the 200K spool being wider = more line. The Curado DC appears to have a larger arbor which would negate the additional capacity over the 200k and would appear to be about spot on to the deeper but more narrow Tatula 100 spool. I'm not one to belive stated line caps but those two look about even so I believe it.
11. It's a "cheap carbon handle" from what I saw and the description but I don't see it on Amazon.
12. Didn't embed and I can't edit. Lets try this.
13. Its supposed to be a cheap carbon fiber handle with the Daiwa HD type foam knobs.
