Daiwa Elite P/F problems
I tried the Curado DC and just had to switch back. I know there is a new Daiwa P/F model just released but trying to make this one fully functional once again. I’d buy another spool but seems everyone is sold out. I’d I get ticked enough, guess I’ll dish out for the new model

I’ll try this. Thanks.

Daiwa Elite P/F problems
Does anyone use a Daiwa P/F reel? The black tabs on the spool inductor cup gets stuck either in the seated position or the tabs will hold the spool in working position. This is very irritating. Backlash comes out of nowhere when spool does not operate as it should.

Shimano SLX XT DC
I received it and ran it for couple days. I have to say this really is a "hidden gem" as mentioned by miceandreets. 1. Line selection in cover for finer tuning 2. Brake dial with 5 settings that is easily accessible when need to adjust on the fly 3. Compact body and spool size enough for close range and distance. 4. Ability to cast into the so called BFS weight range. So it comes down to the great aspect of line management and versatility. The exact features the 24' Daiwa Tatula SV TWS 100 was made for. Only that it's 100% mechanical without the audible noise. Both reels are missing one critical feature that would put these reels into a stellar level. Drag clicker... Having a drag clicker sure makes a huge difference especially in the competition setting. One doesn't know how much it means until your'e hooked up and fighting with feel, sight, and sound. It sure does help. Usually it's standard in high end reels but now the lower end 13Fishing, and Bates now incorporate drag clickers.

Shimano’s “Core Protect”
Agree. Both Daiwa and Shimano guilty of marketing stuff in this manner. The video clearly explains what they’ve done in the attempt to keep out the water intrusion. Maybe the small things (ie parts and design) does help a little. However it still isn’t even IPX1. Shimano should’ve created a video to explain these small adjustments. From the outside, it sure does look plain as a Curado or let alone a plain basic reel.

Shimano’s “Core Protect”
Watched the entire vid. So it’s a beef’d up Curado for inshore. The hydrophobic coating seems to really pertain to just spinning reels. Made a good point on them gears though. Got everyone scratching their head on which gears are more robust.

The new SLX DC XT - a Curado/Scorpion DC killer?
Appreciate the feedback. Agree! I’ve been seeing the new 100 SV’s been selling more often. Zero tension knob, no drop test, versatility on line and bait, hard to beat for $219

I was thinking so👌

Shimano’s “Core Protect”
Can someone please expound on this "Core Protect" that Shimano advertises? Looking at the TranX models. Advertised to have this, but how does this even work on or in a baitcast reel? Yes, we know, like many baitcast reels, the TranX has drain holes. Saltwater will get in if it’s dunked and allowed to drain. Are they talking about a special clear coat, or a space age ceramic technology just on the body? Are there special gaskets factory installed not allowing water near the pinion and main gear? Had it been revealed when disassembling folks? If anyone had disassemble one, please reply with photos of the inside of any Tranx. If it’s just nominal grease within the innards like most baitcast’s, it’s basically standard with a nice clear coat finish am I right? Not to mention, when sand gets into any aluminum worm gear and inside main housing, what really happens when you keep retrieving? My guess it’s the same as any baitcast reel, It’s done.

Shimano SLX XT DC
Daiwa baitcast's are the majority in my lineup. I'm interested in the JDM Shimano SLX XT DC which has the i-DC5. It's the same DC brake system that only come with the domestic higher-end Metanium DC. Anyone have any experiences with the SLX XT DC? If you own any Daiwa's, could you chime in and give me a comparison.

What's your thoughts on the SLX DC XT versus the Zillions?

Shimano instructions manuals
Yes, but it's a chore, and would be nice to print a a full PDF with illustrations. Daiwa manufacturer makes things simple. Every schematic and instruction manual is readily accessible. Transparency. I don't understand why Shimano just don't do the same. There may be a reason but it's truly disappointing🤷♂️

Shimano instructions manuals
Anyone can lead me to the English instruction manual to the Shimano Metanium DC or other Shimano reel manuals? I tried searching the web to no avail. Only found the Japan version.

Daiwa pinion/maingear noise
Yeah if it’s just 3 months, take care of the problem quickly by contacting Daiwa and tell them it’s issues. They are good from what I’ve heard. I know if you contacted Lews, they’ll send you to a mom and pops store for repair or even parts. Hope this isn’t the case. Agree… I’ve learned that one

Daiwa pinion/maingear noise
This is bizarre. I own 8 Elites bought from TW and Digitaka. It's been three years and none of them makes noise or had any problems, thus far. It really could be anything. What kind of noise is it making? If it's the pinion and main gear, you'll hear and feel a humming sound from it. I remember I had this issue with three reels. An old SV that was the 8.1:1 speed, another high gear cheap reel and another Daiwa reel which I've done a gear swap on. However, you should not have any sound from it. Another thing is the bearings. You really need to clean out the bearings and lubricate. Just one bad bearing can freak you out. Best thing to do is be very observant on the disassembly. Inspect everything carefully. Clean and reassemble. You can spot imperfections or anything that is faulty with magnification. As anything, You could've got a bad unit upon arrival

Shimano Curado's lineage PDF/Spreadsheet
I work at a fishing store and I have the many questions about reels and history of them. Does anyone have a master list/PDF/Spreadsheet of the lineage of the Shimano Curado's line up since inception? The box's have numbers and letter's on them. I just relatively know the size of these baitcast reels but cannot explain the mysterious acronyms that's displayed on them boxes. I would like to clearly explain and distinguish older to newer models of any Shimano reel that we have on display.

Best Spool Pin Remover Tool?
Good to know. Can’t stand the month wait like AliExpress. Seems it gets stuck in California, then a 3 weeks later it gets here to Houston🤦♂️

Best Spool Pin Remover Tool?
Ok. When you’re ordering from any of them, what’s the transit time like?

Best Spool Pin Remover Tool?
So, the micro bearing setup makes much more sense. I suppose it has better tolerances. Is this the latest in the world of reel bearings? I’d want to try them on my Elites P/F and Zillion for crank bait. How can I obtain them?

Best Spool Pin Remover Tool?
That red you circled is the casing, the outer race of the bearing. Metal.

Best Spool Pin Remover Tool?
As of now, seems that Hedgehog in Japan are the only ones that has this SLPW Spool Remover

Best Spool Pin Remover Tool?
Before your response, I’ve ordered the TX6. If it covers both, exposed and recessed spools, then I should be good. I’ll order the newer model and see how that compares. Maybe try out the aluminum knock-off one’s from Alieexpress. Think it’s like around $5. I have a lot of Daiwa’s but have some BassPro stuff which really is a Lew’s platform. Next would be the bearings. Thinking I’d replace couple of the Daiwa’s only and see how it runs. Hope it doesn’t sound like a Curado DC.

Best Spool Pin Remover Tool?
Any experience with this style of pin remover? I've seen this on the site and I've noticed that it's round as the SLP version but has different adapters.

Best Spool Pin Remover Tool?
For all those who swapped out their bearings or just wanted to clean the up and re-install them, what is the best "bearing removal tool" money can buy? There are several in the market but wanted to know your thoughts. I have a lot of reels and I damaged a spool and the pin just by using channel locks today. Never again use channel locks😤
