First westpalmdudes mom, now your gf... I'm starting to get annoyed at living in jersey. I dont think we even have 10 lb bass up here. Congrats to the ladies reeling in the lunkers though, I guess im just jealous (Not that I'd ever admit it to my gf though.) ;D

this seasons been rough for me so far as well, im hoping itll get better as it keeps getting warmer (im in north nj), my advice is to stick it out, and the fish will come. if they dont i'd go back to the basics of rubbers (carolina rigged lizard, maybe a creme worm or lil fishie) or a solid white spinnerbait. Only time or a moderator will really tell ya . Good luck!

This is great timing for for this thread, cause my buddy just lost his rod catfishing a few days ago. We had been pulling em out all week, when he set down one rod propped up on a chair, going to set another rod up, when the whole chair just goes over and into the lake with the whole pole taking off into the middle of the darkness. Scene was straight outta Jaws lol, and now we know theres a real monster in there, and theres actually hope for finding his rod!

I almost wish i had problems with my mom like that. I thought the embarrasment of her treating me like I was 5, or always trying to show my baby pictures to girlfriends was bad. But then I think about having to tell my fishing buddies that my mom outfished me... and suddenly I feel much better that I dont have to! Congrats to your Mom on the nice hog! 8-)

Dang, I wish I was catching hogs like that up here in Northern NJ. I haven't been able to break the 3 lb mark around here. That pickerel seemed to be outta his league chasing that Castaic though huh ;D

Lol that is prob the funniest thing i'm going to hear/read all weekend. Congrats on the fish though, im surprised that rod didnt bust in half on the weight of that sucker.

How's everyone doing today. First time poster, longtime lurker (been trying to soak up knowledge like a sponge), so i figured i'd finally introduce myself when i had something to contribute. I'm just a poor college kid that loves to fish whenever I get a chance. ;D But now to the meat of this story, I didnt mean to "lure" ya guys in here with that title (that pun is so corny it made me chuckle) but a warm spell hit us up here in Northern NJ so me and a buddy decided to get some time on the water. We go to a small 5-6 acre lake my buddy lives on and get out on the water. Within 5 minutes of being out there I hook up with a 3-4 lb largemouth on a carolina rigged 6 inch natural color creme worm off a small island. To my chagrin, the fish throws the hook when it leaps out the water. Rest of the day after throwing whatevers in our tackle box, and just not putting fish in the boat we call it a day and decide to try a little catfishing from shore. Low tech, splitshot and hotdogs worked great. I dont really know how to resize pics from the digital camera from over a meg to 150kb, so i just posted them on that photo sharing site Flickr. Maybe someone could pm me a how to on the pic resizing? Anyway heres the results http://www.flickr.com/photos/7943016@N04/. Needless to say I was pretty pumped as these fish were the first of this season for me. Next post will be a lot less longer and have pics of some bass I promise. I just wanted to introduce myself, and heres to hoping everyone's keeping those rods doubled.
