Best trip of the year so far

Featured Replies

Buddies , fishing in Cyprus this year is very tough . The water level is very down and its changing day by day. I feel that every week I m fishing a different lake. I havent figured the big girls out yet.

At last , I managed 2 catch some nice bass today and I hope I continue 2 catch them from now on  ;D

They were very strong winds today so the only way 2 go was spinnerbaits and lipless crankbaits.

I got only 4 bites today but all of them were quality.

First bass of the day 4.94 lbs and 21.5 in long

At some point while I was retrieving a spinnerbait I got hit by a 12-14lbs catfish( american channel catfish) . It was the first time i got one on a lure and I have 2 say it was the best fighting I had so far . That thing was really powerfull like a train. I dont have the experience or the chance 2 catch a bass so big in Cyprus  but I believe it wouldnt fight so hard like the catfish . Can the cali or georgria guys tell us which one is the strongest? I was alone and couldnt handle the catfish 2 make a picture but it was the best experience i had so far in fresh water.

AN AMAZING DAY  :)

congratulations man, those are some nice bass. im sure the catfish on top was the icing on the cake though  ;)

If you didn't specify Cyprus, I'd guess you were living in California  :o

Nice day and once again I am impressed at how healthy those fish are.  They don't miss many meals. ;)

Excellent!

(BTW, nothing I know of in fresahwater fights like a catfish. Cats try to stay put on the bottom, twist, turn and circle. In any kind of current they will use their body mass so that the fisherman is always fighting against the current. They never give up and can be very difficult to land with light tackle. On the downside, they never run far, it's always back to the bottom, and they never jump.)

Man,...Cyprus has some of the healthiest looking fish I've ever seen.  Keep it up over there!!  :)

He is indeed keeping it up right now! He just arrived at a different spot of the same reservoir and has had a three pounder and a two pounder on his first two casts!  8-)

I was supposed to be with him this afternoon, but a minor foot injury has kept me at home :'(  Oh well....

I have channel cats up to 15 lbs. she fought about as hard as my thirteen pound largemouth. My second biggest fish fought ALOT harder than those two though. I have also hooked a bass on a swimbait that I never saw, but with a buttoned down drag, I COULD NOT turn the handle of my reel! Fought so hard that I became sick to my stomach when I lost her.

Fish Chris has caught 30lb cats and 18lb bass, so I figure he is probably THE guy to answer that question though.
