  1. What kind of retrieve were you working to sucker in that hog, cause ive been seeing quite a few quality bass being pulled out on jigs on this site, but no one ever tells me how theyre doing it . I wanna coax the big one of this pond i fish that i know has the elusive 4-5 lber.
  2. Now this is seriously heartwarming... of all the bad stuff you hear in the world today, its great to actually hear some good news once in a while. The fact that it comes courtesy of Randall one of the members of the forum is even better! I'm even more excited to hear that the kid actually caught a bass too
  3. Hey everyone, heres the deal and i would appreciate any help. Me and my buddy do a lot of fishing with our one friend who owns a boat but the problem is he is always down at school and unable to come fishing with us most of the time. We live in in northern NJ where lakes are a dime a dozen, but many are backwoods with no permament boat launch so getting a hard hulled boat back there would be impossible anyway. So my buddy and I are looking to invest in an inflatable boat, for budgetary reasons 1)we both have small passenger cars (a corolla and a nissan altima) and we dont have the money to invest in a truck with a hitch, plus trailer, plus jon boat. I've narrowed it down to two choices, and wonder if you guys have any input or experience with either of them. (We will be doing rowing most of the the time anyway, so motor mounts and power, battery life etc. is not really an issue) 1) Intext Sea Hawk 2 $169 plus shipping http://cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0030645018266a&type=product&cmCat=search&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&QueryText=inflatable+boat&N=4887&Ntk=Products&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&Ntt=inflatable+boat&noImage=0&_requestid=24825 Pro's at least that i see, its a bit lighter and easier to lug, comes with oars and a hand pump, i like the idea of the fabric covering to resist punctures at least somewhat 2)Sevylor Fish Hunter 360 $175 free shipping http://www.amazon.com/Sevylor-Fish-Hunter-Inflatable-Boat/dp/B000K8PKJ8/ref=pd_sbs_sg_5/102-5498525-7650559 This one is only $5 more with free shipping, is 2 feet longer, a bit heavier, but does not come with a pump or oars. Also the name is much cooler ;D, and most likely with this one, we would purchase a small electric pump due to a combination deal making it a few dollars over 200$ with the pump. So with that in mind, and anything else that you guys could possibly think of, I would love to hear your opinions and if anyone has used either of these boats, their experiences with them would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks for your help guys, we hope to buy one of the 2 within the next few days so we can get out on the water and start pulling out those 4-5 lbers we know these north nj lakes contain!
  4. Lol that was hilarious, Nice fish! ;D
  5. Lol we might be at the bar, but i somehow doubt we'd be sipping lemonade
  6. I am thoroughly impressed. I cruise the site probably daily because due to summer classes, work, and the girlfriend, I can barely find time to get out on the water myself. I know as soon I see that date formatting posted by Lighninrod going through the list of threads, I'm going to be treated to some great pics of great bass. Keep up the great work!
  7. You know if I wasnt already a religious man, I'd say that that fish would have me start believing ;D... Congrats on the beautiful monster lol!
  8. That is a hell of a fish, tell your son congratulations on a job well done 8-). Makes me want to use the storm bluegills i have wayyyy more often.
  9. I def don't blame ya on this one. I like to fancy myself on par with Indiana Jones ;D; I love a quality adventure and fighting the bad guys, but i ABSOLUTELY hate snakes. I would've dispatched with this guy to get my lure back in a heartbeat.
  10. Welcome aboard, and I'm sure your going to find it only gets better and better the more time you spend here. The only downfall i have sometimes, is i'm spneding too much time on here, rather than actually out on the water lol.
  11. Yea like every1 said, sorry to hear about the pb loss... im very familiar with the feeling. I always seem to lose em on the jumps, and its becoming more and more frustrating as time goes on. That first fish doesnt look like that bad of a consolation prize though ;D
  12. ok 2 "points" : on this story. One, my buddy catches double treble hooks to the face from an idiot "former" friend and ends up going to the hospital to have them removed and he had to wait for the plastic surgeon to do it. The 2nd, which i find highly more entertaining, was just this Cinco De Mayo. After a long night of Corona's, Tequila, and daquiri's, late night catfishing turned into early morning bass fishing. So my 2 buddies end up going out, and one catches a treble in the kneecap. He cuts off a patch off his jeans to expose the hook, lays back and has my buddy dump the rest of the daquiri's down his throat, as he ends up cutting out a chunk of his knee, and the hook with a dinky pocketknife. That was dedication in my mind "or stupidity" take your pick ;D
  13. dang, those really are some nice hawgs. tell your buddy congrats on the pb, but yours was def NOT a slouch either
  14. how you consider a 6lber a "little guy" i have no idea ;D nice fish though
  15. Well Catt, I definitely didn't too bad with prob like 7-8 bass over like an hour and a half of fishing, dropping 2 nice ones as well. They were still hitting the senko even in heavy rain that most "normal people" would've called it a day on considering your holding a 6'6" lighting rod . I'll tell you though, the only thing that kept me out there in the downpour was I kept catching em, and by that point I was soaked through and through anyway.
  16. As a poor college kid, I definitely agree you don't need to spend a lot of loot to get some bass in the boat (or on shore in my case). I remember when i was like 10 a mere decade ago :, I used to goto my local ponds with nothing more than like 7-8 feet of line, and a hook. A willow branch and worms dug out of the ground rounded out the rod and bait part of the equation. This wasn't cause I was poor or didn't have a real rod or reel, it was about the satisfaction of pulling out bass (and lots of em!) with a net cost of like 10 cents, while other guys out there were equipped for BASS tourney's and were getting skunked. Ah those were the good old days indeed, that and Roadwarrior NAILED it on the head
  17. So I'm getting ready to go fishing after putzing around all day with the crazy t-storms subsiding. I post a thread in general Bassin asking about fishing after storms and get a quick reply from Avid (Thanks for that ) that boosts my confidence and then im out the door. First cast first fish, right off a dam by my buddies lake on a watermelon green senko I had tied up. This was going to be the average size of the day, i had like 6-7 of these. So i call my buddy who turned down the offer to go with me to bust his chops, telling him how its not raining (which is why he wouldnt come) and soon as i hung up the phone it starts steady drizzling and i begin to get soaked!I'm fishing this little corner of the lake by my friends house and pull out a bunch of 1 lbers, and know theres a nice one in there. Finally I coax it out, but this is during a now TORRENTIAL downpour. I think the man upstairs rewarded my dedication with some nice fish. Pic blows i know, because theyre all on my camera phone in pouring rain and crappy lighting. So now im about to leave as im soaked to the bone, and there are ponds pooling in the sleeves of my rain jacket when I decide to throw on a deep diving blue rapala over by the dam again to get a trout. Rod loads up and i set the hook for my nicest fish of the night, and my nicest of 2007. This one I made my my bro take over and over again until he got it right : Overall it was a great night except for the case of pneumonia I feel coming on! ;D
  18. Well I just got in from fishing, but maybe i shouldve named it fishing DURING and right after a storm ;D. I absolutely killed em on a green watermelon senko with black flake. I tried a a buzzbait and some topwater rapalas per Avid's advice but didnt really have any success (I blame this on me fishing em wrong, rather than Avid's advice being faulty ) But I definitely had a blast and will do this wayyyyy more often. Check out my thread in the outings section for the pics here http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1179367314
  19. I'm out here in Northern NJ where we got hammered with Thunder storms for today, raining cats and dogs. They only lasted for like 10 minutes at a time though and now i got some spare time, so im wondering what you guys would recommend to throw? I'm going to be fishing small ponds, I'd say 10 feet deep at the most, more like 3-5 throughout. The waters going to be chocolately cause it usually is, and im sure even more so now with getting stirred up by the downpours and the ponds have little structure, mainly weeds as cover. I'm thinking big colorado bladed spinnerbait; maybe some weightless plastics and senkos? Any advice would be appreciated
  20. Congrats, I'm just waiting to pull one out that size this year. I just fished senkos for the first time a few days ago, and had a great day also, but now im DEF going to try them wacky rigged .
  21. I think you did yourself a favor by letting him go... Now you have the possibility of catching him again when he gets bigger and becomes the new and improved biggest bass you've ever caught
  22. Took me way to long but I finally got out on the water. Me and a buddy hit up the lake his parents live on in Vernon NJ. I'd say were the epitomy of mooks out on the water, but the hilarity and hijinks are worth it ;D. Between the 2 of us we probably landed about 15-20 bass, mostly dinks. I started off using a pumpkin brown T-rigged tube and caught 2 or 3, but then switched over to a black Yamamoto Senko type lure (first time using it) and then we really started killing em. Unfortunately I lost prob the biggest fish of the day in heavy weed cover that I would say was gonna go high 3's maybe low 4's. Over all we had a blast and can't wait to get out there again, sorry about the pic quality but my friend is braindead when it comes to photography (he actually took one holding my phone upside down for some reason... I told ya we were mooks), and camera phones dont have the highest resolution >. I still have to get the hang of this posting pics, so bear with me. : Avg size for the day First nice one Last nice one, both on the black senko
  23. demonjd22 replied to Catt's topic in Fishing Reports
Man, I can only dream of one day pulling in a DD. Congrats on the great fish, and on the 2nd cast too! I really gotta move out of Jersey hahah. ;D
  24. Not a bad way to get the season primed... With classes almost over I can't wait to get on the water and racing you guys for quantity/quality!
  25. Lol i wish my issue was catching 40 bass a day... Lemme tell ya how im shedding a tear over here for ya :'(. Keep up the good work though, I'm sure its only a matter of time before you top that 7 lber!
