Watched my PB swim away....and some pics from yest

Featured Replies

Ahhh man, I was so bummed out I had to sit down and just put my head in my hands. We went out yesterday morning, on the water at 5:10. Started catching right at 5:20, some nice mid to high 2's. I put down the worm rod and start jigging.

About an hour into throwing a 1/2 oz Strike King jig I get hit like a dump truck, this fish was pulling the boat  :o I'm getting it close to the boat...it dives, close to the boat again....it dives, Get it to within about three feet of the boat at the surface and........the hook comes out. My partner Rick was speechless, we both got a good look at it, I'm not one to speculate about size. But this would have been my new PB (at least 5lbs) without a doubt....and I blew it. The hookset was solid, line never went slack, only thing I can think of was maybe it was skin hooked. What a let down...

Anyway, enough gloom and doom, here's a few of the smaller ones. I caught 6 and Rick caught 9 before it started to thunder and the deluge came.

Thanx all  :) I will definitely be back on his or her doorstep next weekend!  ;)

Yea like every1 said, sorry to hear about the pb loss... im very familiar with the feeling. I always seem to lose em on the jumps, and its becoming more and more frustrating as time goes on. That first fish doesnt look like that bad of a consolation prize though ;D

Good looking fish! I'm sure you'll get your new PB soon!

So that WAS you out there, lol.  I was wondering who else was out in the slop, I thought you guys were going to Sand Dam so I didn't bother getting close enough to see who the other boat was.

Where did you hit the big one?  (I'm guessing the flat)

Rick, still hate the place? ;)

I was gonna call you, but I figured we'd eventually ram into each other with all the fog! Hit the big one at 49'er island....

Let's just say that Brent will be getting an order from a new customer...I lent Rick some green pepper trick sticks lol ;D ;D ;D

Got some news, I'll hit you on the IM!  :D

Good but sad story Matt.  It happens and you know they call it "fishing" but we'd wish it was always "catching". ;)

Bummer!  I've lost two definite PBs this year.  One threw my jig on a jump and the other buried in some weeds and I broke off trying to pull him out.  Felt like I got punched in the stomach both times!

Still, 15 fish, and some nice ones at that, makes for a pretty decent morning in my book.  Good job!

Hot durn, you Yankees got ya' some nice bass there.  Sorry about the big one, but those are nothing to complain about.
