Best Day All Year (pics)
oh it wasnt a disappointment, just several times i saw a large fish chasing my swimbait and out of nowhere a 12" fish would come out of nowhere and jump all over it before the bigger one would > lol.

Best Day All Year (pics)
yea we had a blast, the trees seemed to be the only place that consistantly held fish, every piece of woody cover had at least one fish on it, we fished some steep points and grass beds in 2-4 ft of water but they weren't near as productive as the blowdowns

Best Day All Year (pics)
went out with two of my buddies to a lake we had never fished today and got the surprise of our lives. between the three of us we caught over 40 bass. as soon as we got there i called my dad's best friend who grew up near the lake and asked where and what to fish, he said fish every blowdown you can find with a purple t-rigged worm. my buddy joey immediatly put on the purple worm and soon convinced me to put one on myself after he landed his 7th fish vs. my skunk. i fished with the worm for a while with a few hits but i was feeling confident about the XPS swimbait tied on my other rod. to make a long story short we caught over 40 fish, although only about 15 over 3 lbs. joey did end up catching the biggest one of the day at 7lb on the nose, matching his PB. all of the fish we caught today were caught on purple zoom magnum worms and 4.5" XPS swimbait baby bass pattern. average size for the day this size got annoying after three hours kodak moment biggest of the day 7lbs

joke my dad told me
this guy comes home from work one day and goes to open the front door and the rotten wood breaks apart, wife says hunny why dont you fix that door? he replys, what to i look like a carpender? the next day he comes home and goes to wash his hands and notices water leaking from the sink, wife says hunny why dont you fix that sink? he replys, what do i look like a plumber? the next day he comes home and turns on the light switch and no lights come on, wife says hunny why dont you fix that switch? he replys, what do i look like an electrician? the next day he comes home and the doors fixed, the sink doesnt leak and all the lights work. he says hunny who fixed all this? wife says well i had a handyman from down the street come over and fix everything, when i asked him how much it was going to cost the man said, well you can either go up stairs and do the dirty with me or you can bake me a cake. husband says well you baked him a cake right? wife replys, what do i look like, Betty Crocker?

how to make bass hit
i fished a situation like this last week. the part of the lake i was in was way clearer than normal and i could see many fish swimming around and after an hour i had only caught 2. on top of the super clear water a cold from had just moved through. i moved down the lake a couple hundred yards near a fountain in the lake where the water was slightly more stained and caught 3 right away. through experience where i live in virginia i have learned to hate clear water, i think its a combination of the fish seeing you and the fish being able to see imperfections in your baits. if your fishing from the bank it helps to move as slow as possible and stand against trees or bushes to camo yourself. i do this alot when native trout fishing in shallow, extremly clear streams and it seems to help. i hope this helps

Weedless Wacky Rig?
thats funny, ive always rigged finesse worms this way but instead of running the hook through the worm at its halfway point i run the hook through about an inch and a half from the nose, and i use no nail weight, causes the worm to dart and spin erradically depending on the retrieve i wonder why i never thought of moving the hook down, making it "wacky"

Weedless Wacky Rig?
lol well our bass pro in hampton VA is a pretty sorry excuse for a bass pro (compared to the one in charlotte NC) since i still have to order things online they do not carry in our store. but i cant complain too much since its so close. i cant for the life of me figure out why they stopped carrying the BPS brand skirted double tail grubs but continue to sell the Yamamoto brand > . i prefer the BPS brand as they hold up much better than the Yamamoto's i know sorry guys just needed to vent

Weedless Wacky Rig?
this may sound like a stupid question but how do you "weedless wacky rig" a worm? i feel like this question has already been answered in previous posts or articles but i have searched all over this site and have not found anything. i have not "wacky rigged" much in the past but when i did i would just run a hook through the middle of the worm with the hook and barb exposed. would a "weedless" rig just use a hook with a small wire brushguard? thanks in advance -Ben

Nice baby paca craw hawg!
i donno how much this helps since i dont have a girth measurement but two years ago i was fishing with my cousin when he caught one that was exactly 24" and was a hair over 7lbs. his fish looked very similar to yours, with a big belly but since it was caught in early june the belly seemed to be empty (guess she had just layed eggs). she looked fat but the "fatness" seemed to come from an empty belly. i would guess your fish to be somewhere near the 8-9lb mark
