In my experience, the Rooster Tail is the best mutli-species bait. But the "Lowly" Beetle spin is awesome for catching just about anything also. All you need is a spinning rod and it will cast it just fine. I don't fish it much because it seems to catch more small fish but the key is that it does catch lots of fish.

I've decided to upgrade to some Maui Jim's sunglasses. They are not cheap as I am sure everyone knows. I'd be interested in opinions particularly when it comes to lens color. I fish and play golf. I'm going to get superthin glass lenses. Or at least that is my plan. I'm also going to get the wife a pair but hers will be general purpose.

Hey friends, My wife and I are going to south Florida in January. I want to take at least a half day trip to okechobee and try to catch a monster. So, please inform me of any guide services that are good or bad. I will interview the guide but here is what I need. Not a redneck. Not a comedian. My wife is not a fisherman and I want someone patient. No sarcasm. Just help us go fishing. thanks

Well, the old guys who taught me to fish as a kid, told me to keep my finger lightly on the line. It works for me. I don't think watching the line can improve on that. Just my opinion.

Unlike some of the other posters, I do think braid backlashes are harder to get out than mono. However, the benefits still far outweigh the bad. Braid is limper than mono and to make it makes backlashes harder to deal with IMHO. But just don't backlash No special knots. Palomar is the only knot I use on any line.

Here is my rule: if you can drink beer and smoke WHILE participating, it is not a sport. ha I would add that if you can be morbidly obese and be at the top of your "game", it is not a sport. Just because something is on ESPN does not make it a sport.

There was an earlier thread on this subject. I was also interested. I have paid some good money for a couple of spincasters thinking that if I paid good I would be happy. I was not. From the thread, the Zebco Omega Pro and the Daiwa Goldcast 120 seemed to get high marks. I have not tried them yet myself but I have several new anglers in my family and will be picking some up sooner or later.

It counts but it all depends on how he said it. I think most people will admit that they generally have better luck in a pond where there is probably less fishing pressure and you can reach all parts of the pond in a couple hours. IMHO, it is much harder to find fish in a lake. It absolutely counts and if the guy was being a pr*ck you had every right to let him know it. But if he was just jazzing you, that is acceptable. You identify him as "someone" rather than a freind so he was probably being a jerk

IMHO, you are not justified. When my first son came along, I had a hot rod. I sold that bad boy and bought baby stuff. If you can't afford it, get a better job or stop everything that is not family related. Fishing is not important. It is a past-time. It is a luxury.

Keep whining. That will solve it. This is so easy, it is close to dumb. if you can't afford it, stop doing it. When I had my kids I did not make much money and stopped doing fun stuff. That is what Dad's do.
