  1. I've got a Sevylor Fish Hunter and it is great for fishing. I'm going to be adding a transom so I can use a trolling motor with it. This boat was given to me for Christmas so I couldn't beat the price. Chris
  2. I was given a Sevylor Fish Hunter 250 rubber raft and wondering how I can customize it for bass fishing. Anyone got any info on this? Thanks
  3. Guilty! I only go south when I absolutely have to
  4. I'm with Road Warrior, my favorites are all In-Fisherman, the Critical Concepts TV program, their magazine with tons of info for multiple species of fish, and their books.
  5. That's some great advice. I get impatient and start moving around when I should be just changing presentations. Thanks for the great explanation of why patience and fine tuning presentation is a better strategy. Chris
  6. I'm mostly a Saturday morning guy too. Friday night I'll check the weather report and make sure I won't be getting my self into any thunderstorms. Saturday morning I'm up at 4am and will make coffee then pack up my Mountain Dew chasers. I'll head down to the lake and be on the water by 5am at the latest to try for some topwater action until the sun hits the top of the trees. Then I'll usually switch to Senkos and spinnerbaits. Still haven't gotten my fill of that topwater action ;-) Head home about 1pm or 2 depending on the action for a bite to eat and decide if it's a good day to bring the kids out for some bluegill fishing in the late afternoon. God I love summer weekends!
  7. How are you supposed to hold a sunny if not by the body? Their mouths are too small to hold by the lip.
  8. Screw that! Set it for 4:59 and really have fun!

Let me get my brownie points As someone new to bass fishing I can honestly say that it can be very intimidating. There is so much to learn and I started my education with a couple books, magazines, and videos. Those all helped a bit but I still felt like an outsider. Joining this site totally changed that. The beginner's articles are written to help a newbie learn about the basics without making me feel stupid or like I was in a lecture hall. This forum is just icing on the cake with everyone so willing to help out. MEGA THANKS!
  10. Reading all the fine articles and forum posts on this website. Before I came here I knew absolutely nothing about bass fishing. All my life I was always tossing out a hook and bobber and just hoping for the best. After a few weeks of reading this site I went out and tried some of the ideas discussed and was mildly successful but now I'm totally obsessed and I can hardly wait to get back on the water. It's like I just discovered a whole new world that I didn't even know existed before visiting this site.
  11. How do you cast so the bait enters the water quietly? I obviously need to practice this but I don't know where to begin. Please describe the casting techniques that I should practice.
  12. RW nailed it! My wife shops and I fish. She'll say, "Oh let's go look at the xyz's that are on sale at xyz store." My reply, "How about I take the kids fishing and you enjoy a nice quiet afternoon in the store?" Works every time. She loves it. I love it. Total win-win situation.
  13. This reminds me of a question I've had for a couple weeks now. The La Crosse River runs into the Mississippi River just a couple of yards from my office building and I've been wondering how I should fish it during my lunch break. Would I be better right where the two meet or somewhere else? Will bass sit around the mouth of the Mississippi waiting for forage to come off the La Crosse River? That's been my assumption so far but any expert advice would sure be appreciated.
  14. Boo, Great point! This site has allowed me to take my fishing from the "toss a lure and pray" phase to more refined techniques that I never would have imagined before. I will continue to take what I learn and refine them to see what works best in my local area.
  15. Craig, I here you man. This site is terrific but I too have noticed a bias toward the South. God bless 'em all but Wisconsin and Minnesota are a little different. I'm learning a lot about fishing in general but I'd love to get more details about local techniques and tips. Guess I should just pony up and hire a guide for a day of education.
