My family has started a new tradition of spending a week in Northern Wisconsin where the fishing is great. It's not a fishing trip per se and I was never big into fishing though I would go out and try to catch some sunnies for a meal. While I was out hunting sunnies I came upon a downed log and thought "this looks like one of those spots that all the bass fishing guys keep talking about finding fish." So I switched over to a Texas rigged night crawler like I had read about and cast next to the log. As my bait drifted to the bottom in 4' of water I saw my line move and gave it a tug thinking that I must have hit an underwater branch or something. Sure enough I pulled out a 4lb bass for the first time ever. I've been hooked ever since! Now I'm trying to hone my skills so I can pass them on to my 5 year old son who is getting interested as well.

I'm still pretty new to fishing and I haven't talked my wife into letting me buy a boat yet. I like the ability to focus in on a small section without the temptation to move to another. I'm still trying to hone my skills.
