  1. I think it's just because I'm zoomed in so close. Ty guys for the help!
  2. Tried those too. Had them in a box set of tools. Though I don't know if I had as many in my set as you see there.
  3. I'm trying to add grease to my reel but I obviously don't don't have the correct tool. I tried two different sets of alen wrenches with no luck. It's a shimano Stradic C14+ C3000HG-B. Looks like so.. Any ideas on what to use?
  4. hmmm....maybe I should stick with Medium / fast. Thinking about picking up an uglystik carbon. It's gotten some really good reviews from what I have seen.
  5. Question for you guys. Do you think medium light / fast spinning rod to too light for larger bass? I'm going to use the rod that I started this topic for, for heavier lures. Medium heavy feels too heavy to me for finesse fishing. Don't know if I should go with medium or medium light.
  6. Well fishing was terrible today and didn't catch anything so I can't say how well it handles in that regard. But it feels and cast decent. I kind of feel like it may be more rod than I need for most soft plastics like paddle tails.
  7. I'm using it today actually. So I guess I'll see in a few.
  8. I recently broke my spinning rod that I use for soft plastics. I replaced it with this 6'-6" medium heavy fast rod. Now I'm wondering if medium heavy is to much rod for finesse baits like paddle tails and other soft plastics. Thoughts?
  9. I have 3 106 provoke. I have the regular, silent and slow sinker for deep water.
  10. I recently picked up a 6th Sense Provoke 106 and fished it a good bit with zero bites. So I did what I always do...I looked at youtube. I ran across a guy saying that rattles in jerkbaits will actually have the opposite effect in that it sometimes will scare the fish. He was saying that the fish will sometimes come up to the bait and just look at it and as soon as it hears rattling it will take off. Got me wondering if this could be the case in my area where the fish are pretty heavily pressured. If they are relating the rattle to the negative experience of being caught. Thoughts?
  11. I been using them a long time but this is a newer problem. Of course the hooks are a new brand though....
  12. I fished for a couple hours yesterday and planned on trying that hook set but the only bite I got just took the tail of my bait.
  13. I ordered some owners. Both with the flashing and without.
  14. Yeah I wasn't really suggesting it was from gutting them. But they were killed unnecessarily and yeah it's still in the 90s here.
  15. I went to Inks Lake here in Texas over the weekend. They had, had a tournament earlier that day and there were 3 big dead bass floating at the boat ramp. Really aggravated me. And this is very different than your situation but this post reminded me of it.
  16. Usually I have them pulled up to the kayak so I'm assuming I had them hooked and they are shaking it out. Twice this weekend they came up out of the water and spit the hook. So I THINK they are hooked but I'm not totally sure. Maybe the hook is totally penetrated....I'm not sure. Was watching a lot of videos talking about setting hooks...so many different opinions.
  17. I used 30 lb braid with about a 3'+ of 15 lb mono leader.
  18. This is my actual bait setup on a #5 - 4 3/4" rage swimmer
  19. So how do you fish weedless swimbaits then? I went larger on the hook because the body of the rage swimmer is pretty fat so I wanted to make sure the bait could be pushed down enough to open up to the hook. It's really no different than a Texas rig worm right?
  20. Maybe I'm not putting enough power into my hookset. I'll give that a go. TY guys for the tips.
  21. I use paddletails / swimbaits probably 85% of the time because...just works for me better than anything else. I recently decided to go from 3.75" to 4.75" Strike King Rage Swimmers with #4 fusion 19 weighted hooks....looks kind of like this pic below. However, I started losing a lot of fish when pulling them in. I decided to go up to #5 hooks and got the same results. I mean I'm losing about 4 out of 5 fish and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. This weekend I had some really good fish get off the hook and it's really frustrating. Now I just started using these hooks so I don't know if they have something to do with it or if I have picked up and bad habit or what. Any tips or feedback on these hooks would sure be appreciated.
  22. Oh yeah fishing can be really good at the TC dike especially in a kayak. I use paddle tails more than anything in saltwater. You ever catch a big red drum and you'll love some saltwater fishing.
  23. Yeah I lived in Houston and or Galveston until about a year ago. In fact I have a house in Manvel (trying to sell it now) and worked in Deerpark. All that awesome redfish and trout salt water fishing south of you...fish that as well?
  24. 1 to 4 feet clarity in south Houston? Man, I don't think I have seen anything in the Houston area with more than 6" clarity. I
  25. Actually I had a measuring board behind me in a crate. I had him out of the water a while and was afraid of killing him. Also I was in shock as I have never caught anything over probably 2.5 lbs. Also generally bass are measured by weight and I had no way of doing that so I wasn't really thinking about length.
