Okay, thanks for the insight. I went ahead and bought it for $100 with the black friday discount thinking it was too good to pass up. What rating would you say that it actually fishes at and what weights would it excel in? Also, if you're familiar with the curado 151 mgl in 6.2.1 or the 23 metanium 100 in 7.1.1, which do you feel it would pair best with? I'm finding conflicting answers as to which one will cast lighter lures better. Thanks casts_by_fly

Edit* this would be paired with either my curado mgl 151 6.2.1 or 23 metanium 101 for bass, and the occasional crappie or bluegill. As stated above I do really enjoy fishing ned rigs and I believe this rod may work for that. I'm curious what all else it may be good for or limited to.

I have a Shimano curado reel and I would like to pair it with a curado rod. I found one casting curado 7'2 medium light extra fast rod on a very good sale. It is the only one this cheap likely because this is a niche rod category. I do utilize ned rigs often. Would anyone recommend this rod? What use cases would this rod Excell and what disadvantages would there be? I'm wondering if the extra fast aspect will make up for the medium light aspect of the rod making it slightly more versatile. Thanks in advance. Tight lines

There are so many combinations and abbreviations that I find it hard to identify which one would be best suited for light lure to general use. Comparisons or different rel recommendations are welcome

I've noticed there has yet to be a discussion about the new Shimano Vanford 2024. If any of the shimano heads out there have an opinion on the upgrades that have been made to this new version, please share. Additionally, what use cases would you reccomend this reel for and in what size/gear ratio. I'm trying to decide on the perfect one to choose from on digitakas website as, I believe, there are some jdm specific versions available there. Which are jdm specific, and what benefits if any are there to one. I'll be using it for freshwater bass and crappie, likely in the 2500 to 3000 size with lighter lures like ned rigs in mind but also ideally versatile enough for general use. Something to fill the gap that my curado mgl 151 can't. Tight lines folks.

Digitaka shows an an option for vanford with "(NEW)" next to it. This has come after their recent opening from the closure while restocking in october
