  1. Thanks ! Do you fish the Delaware often ?
  2. I frequently fish the Delaware river in the summer months. I typically head north of new hope and wade the area near Hendricks island. I also started kayaking there last year. Wading isn’t as easy as it used to be. I’ve always done well here. I get good numbers but nothing too crazy size wise. I used to get out on the Susquehanna for my fix of big bass but with two kids that’s harder to do now. Anyway I want to explore some new sections of the Delaware for smallmouth. Wading or kayaking. Any suggestions on some good areas to try? This was my best bass out of the Delaware. Back in 2017 on a whopper plopper.
  3. That’s a good day ! What section do you kayak? I wade and kayak north of new hope a lot
  4. I did buy some 3/16 weights as well! I did see people mentioning these style hooks but haven’t done a deep dive yet. I’ve always used ewg but am always open to new setups. What makes you prefer these ?
  5. Thanks AJ! I was actually using heavy duty 6/0 as well as the swim bait ones with the screw top. I didn’t think the Berkley looked as meaty but couldn’t tell if I was wrong!
  6. Any one have a recommended hook for these worms? I was fishing 6/0 ewg hooks for the 7 inch zoom magnum worm. They worked good. Just wanted to hear some opinions. I’ll be fishing some heavy pads and dragging it across the top and letting it fall through in the holes. Had great success with the magnums at the lake last week but burned through them all. Headed out Friday so I my next best bet was the Berkeley worms which I read about on here. Couldn’t get the magnums delivered before Friday unfortunately
  7. Looks like a good group of guys ! The guy offered the scorpion for 125$. Looked in decent shape but definitely used. I’ll wait a bit and when the time comes I’ll be looking into the JDM side of things. Best response I found on another forum scorpion is the same as the E7 except for handle knobs, anti reverse pawl, and paint. The stock bearings are better in the scorpion as well IMO. I have several of both and prefer the scorpion. I think he will love the 1500 they are great reels.
  8. Came back to this thread just now because a guy I messaged shortly after making this post just got back to me. He ended up already selling his curado 201 but said he has the same reel but it just has some minor differences. It’s the scorpion 1501-7. I am curious why the curado has more demand. The scorpion 1501 with left handed reels and sells for about the same price. I am curious why it seems like there is less demand for them. My curado comes in the mail tomorrow ! If it goes well and I want another one for a different rod it seems like a no brainer to look into getting a scorpion. Unless someone here has more knowledge about why one may be better.
  9. What’s your preferred setup for punching ?
  10. Yeah I just recently found bass resource so I’ve been doing a deep dive on lots of specific stuff ! This place is a wealth of knowledge ! Appreciate the input !
  11. Yeah I’ve read guys going heavier than 50 as well. I also saw where 50 was good for getting some casting distance. I will be wading and have always fished this lake with 6’6” medium heavy and spinning reel. I am hoping this new setup gets me out further especially in spots where I think I’ll finally be able to land at the edge of the pads where the creek channel is.
  12. Found this looking for the same info. Never heard of this body of water but I am in eastern PA. Saw a guy in a PA fishing group consistently catching nice fish from his kayak here. Did you ever fish it?
  13. Mind explaining what you added on to these? They look awesome
  14. Awesome thanks ! Also will be switching up and using the magnum speed worm. Got one bass on it in late fall here in PA. Thinks it’s going to be a game changer for me this spring
  15. Any recommended braid for this reel? I’ll be fishing top water in a weed bed scattered with lillies. I was thinking 50lb power pro based on some other stuff I read.
  16. Thanks fellas. Just got a 201e7 that’s looks to be in better shape than most of the higher priced ones I saw. All said and done I got it for $125 which I am content with. This will be my first bait caster. Can’t wait to throw in on my dobyns and get after some bass come spring
  17. I was searching 200. I’ll start looking for the 201. Appreciate that info!
  18. Of course I can’t find a left handed
  19. Thanks for the input everyone. I did see the prices on eBay which seemed high. I also noticed that all the live bid ones ended up selling closer to the 100 dollar range. I feel like 200 is a little steep for some of the used ones I saw. I’ll keep an eye out for some that come up for bid as opposed to but it now. Cult following yes but it seems like no one has anything bad to say about it aside from price. I’ll look into some of the other mentioned reels.
  20. Purchased a Dobyns Champion 735c last night for frogging. I am now looking for a reel to go with it. Stayed up way too late last night reading through forums and watching videos haha. I recently stumbled across Curado 200e7 and am interested. Seems like a workhorse and saw people mentioned its ease of use. I’ve actually never used a bait caster but after 33 years I am ready to learn. I actually bought two older Shimano stradic FL that were lightly used on eBay after reading about them here and I am really happy with them. With that being said I am open to input on how this reel would work with my new frogging rod.
  21. Old thread I just stumbled upon looking for a reel for my recently purchased frogging rod. I see people mentioned ease of use and good setup for beginners. It will be my first time using a bait caster. I also see lots of people buying up used ones still. Hard to get parts is the only thing I don’t like.
  22. I went with the Dobyns champion 735c after hopping back into my deep dive tonight. It helps that tackle warehouse had them 30 percent off. 7’ 3” and I agreed that having some sensitivity in the top would be nice. Since I’ll be wading I liked that the rod has some versatility in case I decide to switch my lure. The pads gradually fill in and there is a month where they aren’t too thick. I was tempted by the 736 being that people said its great for the real thick stuff. The 735 will work and when the pads get too thick maybe I’ll upgrade to 736 at some point. Still need to do a deep dive on the recommended reels!
  23. No kayaks allowed. Whats the reel you have ? I am also open to rod and reel suggestions. I purchased two static fl reels after reading about them on this page and am happy with them. Reading about them on here is what made me join the page. Also started fishing some new plastics and lures since joining. I know there are some experienced anglers here that have gone through trial and error and reels and rods. Just looking for a starting point to do a deep dive on. My PB will come out of these pads and I want to have the right tools for the job.
  24. Awesome thanks for the info! Do you like the tip action on your zodias for all top water or just for certain lures ?
  25. Hey everyone. I am looking for input on a frogging setup. The main area I will be using this will be a lake that no boats are allowed on so I’ll be wading. The lilies here get real thick. I’ve gotten some nice fish with my spinning reel but once the lilies and weeds get thicker come summer I lose confidence in my setup. I wanted to hear some input about a good setup that is somewhat versatile for dragging frogs and big plastics across the top but also punching through weeds. I see the tatula sv is on sale today but I am not sure that would be the best fit for what I am looking for.
