  1. Would you suggest the champion xp 744 or 735 for a only jig rod
  2. I would get the expride but the warranty is not very good on it I would but the warranty isn't all that good on it+ it doesn't go on sale much
  3. Also dont the 150/200 tatulas have alumium frames AND side plates and the X just has the frame?
  4. Are they sturdy enough for frogging? I picked one up for it but water still cold and I haven't tried it out much yet.
  5. I am looking at picking up a new rod casting rod. Right now I have the following rods: St Croix Victory 7ft 4in heavy fast Dobyns Kaden 714 (7ft 1in "heavy"-more like a stiff med heavy fast) Daiwa 2025 Tatula bass 6ft 8in medium fast. What type of rod would you suggest I pick up next? I am thinking I would benefit from another do it all medium heavy. Which of the following rods would you suggest I get: Dobyns Champion XP 734 Dobyns Champion Extreme HP 744 Daiwa Tatula Elite 7ft 3in fast. Which would be best for jigs and chatterbaits? Thank you for the help!
  6. I am looking to get a reel for my 7ft 4in heavy fast st croix victory rod. (Will use the rod for frogging, pitching and flipping jigs around timber ect) Do you have any suggestions? I have mainly been looking at the tatula 200 and the shimano bantam 150. I would get the bantam, but my worry is line capacity. Will the bantam have enough line capicity if I ever want to throw 65lb braid? Thank you so much for the help! Also I found the bantam for like 230 on digitaka. If some part breaks would it being a jdm reel make it hard to replace?
  7. I am interested in trying the jenko booty shaker 6in swimbait. How much do they weigh with no hook/weights attached? Would the 5in size throw better than the 6in on my rod. (7ft 4in heavy rated 3/8oz-1 1/2 oz) Also I plan to throw it on a 8/0 3/8 oz owner beast flashy swimmer. Thank you! (The jenko booty shakers are on a massive sale)
  8. Thank you for the responce. Is there any reason you would pair the curado with the heavy rod?
  9. Thank you for the help. I have never used a shimano reel so the tip with the floro is greatly appreciated.
  10. Thank you for the detailed responce. That was what I was thinking for the pairings.
  11. I'm looking for some recommendations on my bait casting rod/reel arsenal. I've outlined the background information and then my question below. I own the following three baitcaster rods... 1) St. Croix Victory 7'4" Heavy/Fast (Full Contact) -primary use is frogs, swimbaits, big jigs, and heavy Texas rigs -plan to use use 40lb braid 2) Dobyns Kaden 7'1" Heavy/Fast (I do think this feels more like a Medium Heavy...) -primary use is Texas rigs, jigs, and larger moving baits -plan to use 17lb fluorocarbon 3) Daiwa Tatula 2025 Bass 6'8" Medium/Fast (Skippin Dock) -primary use is top waters, smaller treble hook lures, smaller moving baits, and paddle tails -plan to use 12 lb monofilament I own the following three casting reels... 1) Daiwa Tatula SV TW 103 - 7.1:1 2) Shimano Curado MGL 150 - 7.4:1 3) Daiwa Tatula X TW 100 - 8.1:1 - My question is, how would you mix and match the three rods with the three reels and why? I'm open to any pairing options, I'm just curious what people think and the logic behind the pairings. Thanks so much in advance for your time and consideration.
  12. Thank you for all your help. I went out and caught too smallies on my first trip, but I still have MUCH to learn. Thank you
  13. I am in the midwest and enjoy largemouth bass fishing but am looking to try smallmouth fishing. I have never fished for smallmouth bass so any tips would be very helpful. Some things I would like to know are lake vs River, what combos work best, lures, structure to look for, stuff to avoid, line you use, etc. Any tips help.
  14. Did you mean the 7'3 heavy mod fast or the 7ft 2in med heavy mod fast?
  15. Would fishing braid to leader fix that problem?
  16. I am looking to pick up a new bladed jig and spinner bait rod. I was looking at the St Croix Victory Cranker (7ft 2 in med heavy mod fast) and the St Croix Victory Rip'N'Chatter (7ft 2 in heavy mod). I have heard that the rods run a little light, for example a heavy would be a med heavy, but I don't know if thats true. I am mainly fishing 3/8 oz chatterbaits. I am in midwest so no monsters. Leaning towards the Cranker, but looking for any thoughts from people, particularly those that have fished these specific rods.
