  1. I just did mine last week with 6awg using Anderson sb50 connectors like shown above. 10ft extension from TM to battery. Tested it this weekend and it worked well. I ran the Minn toka 55lb at full power for awhile and felt the wires and connectors and they were not even that warm.
  2. Hi, I have started to work on rewiring (converting 10awg to 6awg) to support the Minn Kota 55lb TM. I bought the 6 AWG wire and a ring crimper for the battery side today. For the TM side of the run I found these replacement plugs (around 35$) which fit 6 AWG wire on amazon: Marinco 12VCPS3 70A Trolling Motor Plug & Receptacle or 70A Trolling Motor Plug & Receptacle for 2 or 3 Wire 12-48V Systems Compatible with Minn Kota Marine Boat, Watertight Heavy Duty Electrical Power Connector Black by moestoont however -they are bigger than the Pelican plug which has 10awg. So I would need to drill a larger hole (and they are deeper too). before I go doing this - has anyone done this before or found another way to wire their TM to 6AWG wire? thanks
  3. thanks - I did get a Newport battery box with 60amp breaker so planned on that being sufficient. on running the wire - I had planned on taping or crimping the new 6 to the old 10 and using the old to pull the new through the boat.... would that work?
  4. Hi, New to the forum, and new bass raider owner here. I have read through many of these posts and the information has been extremely helpful! I went with a Minn Kota 55lb TM and planned to have mounted in the stern, with the battery in the bow - connected via the built in wiring from pelican (10 AWG wire). However I have read here that for a 10ft+ run the 55lb would need something closer to 6 AWG to avoid overheating the wiring. --the TM wiring is listed as 10 AWG but it is much thicker vs. the pelican 10 AWG wiring. If I replace the pelican with 6awg and leave the TM with 10 is that an issue? I did not want to open the TM motor housing and replace the factory wiring --I bought an attwood male adapter for the TM - so I could plug it directly into the pelican built in female Attwood port - this adapter also uses 10AWG. is this an issue? --how would I connect 6AWG to the inside of the pelican female atwood port - or do I need to buy a new one and replace the port itself I have read a number of posts debating solder vs crimp connections and planned ongoing with crimping where possible (will buy marine grade crimps). just to get the boat out soon I'll probably put the battery up front but would like to get it rewired soon. thanks for the help!
